Two of the best restaurants on Stock Island are only steps away. This is a fishing marina. You will be able to buy fresh fish from the market or catch your own, with a proper Florida fishing License.

My goal is to help you enjoy your stay in Key West. If it's water activities, I'm your man. If you only need some guide service, no problem. A Captain or crew will be in touch with you on day of arrival. You will have my or crews cell phone number and can call with questions.

Many times questions arrive about charters, day trips, fishing and diving.. VRBO ;does not allow me to give you contact information. Until after booked, so messages must suffice until then.

The Neighborhood

We are in Stock Island out of the hustle/bustle of Duval Street. We have great restaurants and a lot of boats. Most commercial fishing still comes out of this area. If you want to buy fresh fish right off the boat, this is the area.

Getting Around

Adequate taxi, Huber, Lyft and city bus service. All close by. Taxis usually arrive within minutes.

Driving directions

From North, look for Burger King around mm 5. Turn left (South) on 5th. Go to 1st stop sign, turn left on Maloney Ave Go 4 blocks to 4th Ave (Just past West Marine). Turn right, go about 1 block, to Front street. Turn left , go pat Hogfish to Keys Fresh Seafood . Pull into marina , YKNOT is directly in front of you.

6840 Front St.

Yknot {if available} for charter would be for your group only. We offer fishing trips, snorkel trips, scuba diving and sunset cruises.

Comfortable stay with Great location!

The boat was clean, everything was operational, and amenities were close by. It's docked right next to The Docks restaurant, which was phenomenal. The location was great with only a short 10 minute ride into key west. 10/10 would come stay here again!

motor home camping on the water

this older boat is docked at a great place in key west. drinking coffee in the morning on deck is wonderful. close to great restaurants. this is a boat, so has 30 amp service, so you have to be careful with what cooking/ac to run at one time. shower is comfortable. more like rv camping than a vrbo home.

Great affordable find in Key West

Ralph was wonderful in checking us in and showing us the boat. The marina is great and cozy with great food spots nearby where the locals gather to eat (so you know the food is great!). The boat is older, so if you really need luxury/modern comfort this may not be for you. If you're looking for something different, off the beaten path, with short distance/cheap Uber ride to downtown, this is it!

Great location. Filthy boat.

This boat is located in an amazing spot. The marina is wonderful, restaurants/bars fabulous, beautiful hotel, service in the restaurants and hotel absolutely top-notch, easy access to Duval Street. But the boat is filthy. The listing states that it is sanitized and cleaned with disinfectant. When we arrived, I cleaned the counters in the galley and the sponge was black. No one had cleaned that boat for weeks, maybe longer. There was mold in the sleeping quarters and the hatch leaked -- a problem since it rained several times during our stay. I was afraid I would get sick, so we ended up renting a room at the Perry Hotel, which was pricey but worth every penny. Great hotel. Stay there instead!

Quiet marina stay on quaint boat

The boat was exactly as described. It was a perfect location for our adventures into Key West. We were only 0.4 mile from the public bus stop - which we caught several days. Also never waited more than a few minutes when we took Uber. We ate at The Docks and Hogfish - both very close by. And at El Siboney, a Cuban restaurant about 0.7 miles away. Two nights we lounged on the bow of the boat after sunset and enjoyed musicians playing at The Docks. Someone in a previous review commented about the neighborhood. It is a working marina neighborhood - not condos or luxury resorts. However we walked through the neighborhood to the bus stop and Dions Quik stop several times and always felt safe. We are 60+ backpackers who prefer this type of unique stay. I would not recommend for anyone expecting luxury accommodations or with mobility issues.

Nice quiet relaxing stay

My husband and I came to key west for our 2 year anniversary. First time here. Wanted a experience that wasn't at a pricey location. The yknot is like camping in a camper but on the water. We had full access to the perry hotel which is heated at 80 year round. Matt's stock island restaurant has amazing breakfast every morning. The showers at the marina are nice and big with plenty of hot water. We came to key west to see key west not stay in a room all day. If you want that may want to stay somewhere else. The boat is clean and had plenty of linens and towels. Super quiet at night and in the morning besides the roosters waking you up. Overall I would stay here again for the experience. It's a beautiful marina that's well kept. The boat is a boat that's sleeps probably 6 adults comfortably. Stay here and spend your money that you would be spending somewhere else seeing all the sights in key west. There are alot of them.

Exactly as described, fun stay on a working fishing yacht!

I read some negative reviews before coming here, it seems that those people thought they were booking Mar a Lago. We just booked it as a hotel room since everything else was booked for New Year's Eve. This was a well cleaned offshore fishing boat, with comfortable bunks, cold AC, and a gorgeous view. First Mate Nate hauled all of our bags onto the boat for us, and Captain Ralph gave us a tour of the boat and showed us how everything worked. They provided a great supply of water and snacks. At checkout time Nate told us not to rush as he was still getting bait for the next fishing charter. One thing to know in case you don't read all of the details, the shower has limited water and the toilet is a marine head, meaning hand pumped and no paper into it (you have to put the soiled paper in the garbage can). However, there are very clean and nice bathrooms in the hotel, and nice showers on the dock. We had an awesome time, would definitely recommend it!

Not quite as described

The description had a few amenities that were not available . The grill did not work, the pool was at his house not on Marina property and unfortunately there were not restroom facilities on Marina grounds. Several pst reviews had mentioned using Marina showers and restrooms which was from a prior Marina where the boat had been docked. The head had a terrible smell when flushed so we stopped using it because it was unbearable. Ralph did answer a couple of calls and told my husband things to do . It did help but we discontinued use. The floors are very uneven so you have to be careful not to trip I have been a boater all my life so I’m used to fishing boats which this is but needs some loving care before it should be on the rental market. We did love the two restaurants The Dock and the Hoggfish and met many nice fishermen at the Marina. We did love Key West !!! Lastly , Ralph called on check out day to follow up and listened to things to make it better for the next VRBO guests which I thought was really good!! Hopefully the next experience will be great

A perfect, old, working trawler can smell like old fuel, have flat pillows, and squeak.

As an old and still working (The owner runs it for fishing charters and dive charters in season) trawler, the YKnot gets an AA+ rating. It was clean. Its old carpeting was covered with clean rubber-backed entry mats. The provisions were plentiful. The galley kitchen accomodated us easily (3 of us). Refridgerator and freezer space was good. The air conditioners kept the humidity under control. But as an acceptable place to bed for a night, I can recommend it only to a salty fisherman accustomed to being at sea for long periods. On entry, the smell of fuel hit us. We thought it just might need an airing out and opened the door and pointed the fan outward but even with that and the air conditioners on, it did not clear out. We left for an excursion almost immediately and returned 4 hours later and the smell had abated quite alot, but as the night cooled, the air conditioners would turn off and the smell immediately returned. I had stepped outside a few times, and we tried leaving the door open but it stormed that night so that didnt work. We turned the thermostat down to try to keep the air running. That helped some. By morning the smell was very faint, but it was so pervasive. I had a headache. Our clothes smelled. They aired out some as we walked that day. But although we spent only one night, when we all took out our sweatshirts the next day on our ferryboat ride back to Ft. Myers, they smelled of fuel - as did everything else in our bags, it turned out. We noted the bedding was clean, and we had expected (correctly) old sailor's mattresses. But the old pillows were unacceptable for a comfy night's sleep (flat rocks). We thought the owner should make the night's sleep as comfortable as possible. The last problem was the squealing - which was intermittent for about 5 hours at nightime, and so loud that you could hear it all the way down to the marina bathrooms. Around 2 a.m. we discovered that the boat was somehow caught up tight to the dock and croaked long, hard, loud, loud squeals as the waves tried to push it back and forth. The noise kept two of us awake (not our big guy snorer! lol). One of us ended up sleeping on a galley bench, as far from the squealing as possible. In the end, we took it all in stride though, like an adventure, it's easier to chalk it up yet another new experience - but we could not have stayed another day. Because of the acrid fuel smell we could not recommend the YKnot.

Charter boat near Key West

The marina was beautiful as well as all available amenities. Transportation (included) was available from the hotel on property to Key West (downtown and Higgs Beach.) The charter boat accommodations would be great for a bunch of guys to stay in. The ladies might think it is somewhat tired, requiring nicer touches. The boat sleeps 6, but I would not suggest for a family. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Fish camp

The host was very nice and easy to communicate with. This boat is perfect for a guys trip is the plan is fishing and sleeping. Otherwise I would not recommend for multiple couples or even a romantic getaway. The Marina is beautiful with great amenities but be prepared for a rustic fish camp kind of stay when you chose this boat.

If you know what you’re getting into and it’s what you want, then this is a wonderful experience!

We knew going in that this was a boat… basically an older camper on the water where you can’t flush toilet paper and it’s tighter quarters than a hotel. I’ve seen some reviews here where I wonder if they read the description fully… but since this is what we wanted this was absolutely perfect. The host is great and very accommodating and responsive. This boat made our trip memorable and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for this experience. The location is great too, the hotel is right there with a pool and bar and the marina has cute little shops that fit about anything you can need.

Room with a view…Y Knot

My sister, mom and I we’re coming in to Key West for one night. This was a perfect find. We wanted something unique that would allow us to do our exploring. Check in was easy. There was access to the hotel amenities pool etc. and a great coffee shop- Great Lakes Roasting Company just down at the other end of the Marina. Fun experience.

Disappointing

I am really sad to say that the best part of staying on the boat was the location. Y knot charters is really old and quite musty. The beds were comfortable but we had use of the hotel bathrooms and the marina .baths was a positive.. ? We also had access to the hotel, the Perry hotel, and the oyster House bar. And that might have ranged are viewpoint of The oyster house bar and grill.

We would stay gain on YKnot. It is a fishing charter boat not a luxury yacht which was perfect for us. The location of this boat is PERFECT. There are 2 pools (one of them right in front of the boat. Bath house, multiple restrooms, gym and 3 restaurants all within walking distance. You can use the free shuttle to downtown Key West, if you like. Good time all around. Would highly recommend. Great amenities!

My friends and I stayed at the Yknot fishing boat for a long weekend getaway. Great amenities, beautiful location, and the resort and its bathrooms were very clean. The shuttle was excellent and everybody was extremely kind within the resort. Things to consider… This truly is as stated by the owner a fishing charter boat. Things that we would bring to stay again: Our own bedding, pillows, towels, and a cooler full of ice to make drinks. Host is very willing to help out with any questions or concerns that you have during your stay. Very easy to talk to and responds quickly to texts and phone calls.

Nice marina area…

Sadly, this stay wasn’t the romantic getaway we wanted. This is an old fishing boat that isn’t kept up. You can’t cook on this boat…coffee is about it. However, you can use the pool and restaurants beside the marina. The loud Airport jets passing overhead and dock noises prevent any peaceful sleep. The all night creaking against the dock and the bunk bed atmosphere isn’t conducive to 70 year olds seeking comfort and a peaceful atmosphere. Would only recommend this accommodation to young kids who want to “camp”.

About the host

Hosted by Ralph Thoren

Host profile image
I am an active Coast Guard captain with over 20 years service chartering in the great lakes, The Bahamas, The gulf through the Caloosahatchee River to the Atlantic and lastly in Key West since 2006. We have an accident free safety record.

Why they chose this property

Yknot is a camping experience. It is like a camper in the sense of 30 amp service, bunk beds. Yknot is not a hotel, it is not a house on water. It is a working charter boat, kept clean, with clean sheets, pillow cases and towels .

What makes this property unique

The view of sunset over marina from bow of boat is sensational. If you charter to go fishing, snorkeling or diving, you are all ready on board. The bunks allow for groups to share cost and food preparation can kepp cost low.
