About this property
Waterfront cabin/Military discount/ Kayaks/ Fire pit/ beach/No pet fee/ deck
The Mainley log cabin is our magical escape from the summer heat and traffic at home. We do share it for a few months out of the year because it is too good not to share! We have filled it with local art, and vintage treasures that capture the spirit of the bold coast. You will have to look a long time to find another coastal property as well maintained and comfortable at this price! We just had a beautiful new deck built in April 2025 that looks out over the bay. We have no pet fee, a 10% weekly discount, a 2 night minimum stay for off peak season, and the cleaning fee is very low at $120. We offer a 10% discount for active and retired military, law enforcement, and first responders , just message us before making your reservation and we will add the discount for you. We know that times are hard right now so we work to provide the best value for your hard earned money. The Mainley is a true log cabin, rustic, but very comfortable with an elevated view of Cobscook bay and Moose Island. It is perfect for nature loving couples or families of 4, with a king bed in the loft , 2 single beds in the downstairs bedroom, and one full bath with a walk in shower . The cabin is right on the water and gets the cool breeze from the bay so there is no air conditioning just the oil furnace for the chilly mornings and nights. If you are looking to escape the big city life for a little while and connect with nature you will love it here. No pet fee, no weight limit on dogs. We do insist that you have your dogs on a lead everywhere on the property except for the beach because we have porcupine and coyotes in the area. Also please do not leave your dogs alone on the porch or in the cabin to bark and disturb our neighbors. We have a reasonable and flexible cancellation policy because we understand that sometimes things come up and we make exceptions for health & family issues and weather. We have large dogs, so we understand the frustration of not being able to find accommodations that allow dogs over 80 pounds. All well behaved dogs welcome, up to 3 dogs per booking. We accept well behaved cats upon request as well. Our cabin is furnished with big dogs in mind. It is unreasonable to ask that your dog stay off of the furniture, so we have sturdy, covered, easily cleaned furnishings. We fell in love with the massive Lubec tides, the water birds, and all of the wildflowers here and we are sure you will, too! Reserve the perfect dates for next summer now because the calendar fills up quickly with returning guests. A recent guest described the Mainley best by saying " if you want a Disney type vacation this is not for you, but if you want to commune with nature in a relaxing clutter free space this is perfect." The cabin is at the end of a long gravel driveway and is about a quarter of a mile off of North Lubec Road. It is located close to the end of the North Lubec peninsula. The location feels very remote and is surrounded by thick forest, but it is only 6 miles to the town of Lubec. Lubec is a nature lovers paradise, but the restaurants are limited, close early, and there is no night life. Summer activities shut down at the end of September, but the natural beauty of the area is still amazing. The beach is downhill from the cabin and the short walk may be difficult to navigate for older guests even though we have a wide paved path. The Mainley shares a secluded beach with 2 smaller cabins. The cabins are far enough apart with trees between them to maintain some privacy. Our cabins are pet friendly so you may see or hear another guests pets on the beach. If you are allergic or simply do not like pets our cabin will not be a good fit for you. The Mainley cabin has an open concept main floor with 20-foot ceilings, wood burning fireplace, large deck, screened porch, a smart TV , 250Mbps high speed internet and free WIFI. Our cabin is a clean, rustic, but comfortable, place to relax and read a book (we have lots of them) or just enjoy the view and the sound of the tide coming in. Watch the rise and fall of the massive, 20 plus foot tides, from the elevated deck that runs the length of the house. Bring your paddle board or use our kayaks and explore the bay. To use our kayaks you must sign the waiver form in the welcome book. Walk on the rocky, beach in front of the cabin, and watch eagles, gulls, and seals. We highly recommend the whale watching tours with Down East Charters, that runs from June too mid-September, from Lubec. The guide is funny, well informed, and touring the coast lines of neighboring islands is breathtaking. This home is equipped with everything that you need for relaxing getaway. The kitchen has plenty of counter space to prepare fresh seafood, while the easy-to-use appliances and lots of cooking equipment make vacation cooking easy. Plenty of outdoor chairs to enjoy the view and a screened porch for relaxing without the bugs. To use our exercise equipment you must sign the waiver form in the welcome book. With all of the wonderful hiking trails in the area and the kayaks you will not need exercise equipment! This is not a suitable beach for swimming because current is too strong and the water is always too cold. No smoking and please return all TV equipment to its original settings if you make any changes.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Beautiful location! We felt instantly comfortable at the house. Loved the fire pit outside and the chairs down by the water (perfect for morning coffee). Love the set up, makes enjoying the outside really easy. Beautiful views and sunrises. Our pup also had a great time. They all a lot of amenities in the bathroom and tons of kitchen items with the draws labeled with whats in them. Can't wait to go back next year!

Thanks so much for being our guests and for leaving the cabin so clean!
The Mainely cabin was the perfect place to enjoy down east Maine. We spent a week exploring the area- Campobello Island, Cobscook trails, St Andrew by the Sea, NB, Quoddy Light and of course the main drag in sleepy Lubec. Magical. Views everywhere you turn including from the deck of the cabin. The house was super clean, well stocked with all kitchen gadgets, washer/dryer etc. Even a fire pit which we used one night! The hosts are quick to communicate and most importantly we got to travel with our Bernese Mountain dog who loved roaming the private beach off leash in front of the cabin. If you’re looking for a true get away, Mainely Cabin fits the bill!

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay! Everything is better when you can bring your furry best friend! You are wonderful guests and we hope that you will come back to the cabin next summer!
We loved this cabin! The view, the deck, the firepit, the wall to wall knotty pine, it’s exactly what a Maine cabin should be. We dined once at Cohill’s in town, other than that we were happy to eat in and enjoy the house. Absolutely recommend

The house was a beautiful rustic, log cabin perfect for a couple alone or with children. We brought our two Bernese mountain dogs. The cabin was very dog friendly and we appreciated that. It was also really well appointed they had everything we needed to make our stay very comfortable. I would highly recommend this property.

This was our third time in the Mainley Cabin. We fly all the way from California just for this perfection. Nothing beats this location. It’s so quiet and peaceful yet with all modern conveniences. Thanks to owners Damon and Jamie for always being so kind and working with us. And Carla! Always available and flexible. Can’t wait to come back.

I loved staying here. The house has lots of charm and a terrific view. We went to Lubec to hike and relax. If you are looking for a vacation to get away from your fast paced, busy routine, this is a great option. And the coastal views in the Lubec area cannot be beaten.

We had an amazingly peaceful time at the cabin. The sunrise over the water was beautiful and you can't get enough of the starry sky at night. We walked the rocky beach with our dog who also had a wonderful time. Such a relaxing place to just sit and take in the beauty and wildlife. We'll definitely be back!

Thank you for the great review and for being such wonderful guests!
I’ve stayed in many Vrbos/AirB’s all around the world. This rental made it to my top 3 list, simply because it has everything you could ever want. It’s truly a hidden gem and thats great for anyone who already knows about the charm that Lubec has. The home itself was extremely clean. The kayaks were easy to use, and you can’t beat the view of the sunrise every morning out the windows. Especially if you sleep upstairs in the loft like we did. I’m telling you straight up, there isn’t a better rental in the town of Lubec, this is by far the best in the area. I’ve been coming to Lubec every year for the last 6 years just to give you some background.

Cabin was excellent. If you want to be away from it all, this is a great place to relax.
Had to change reservations details last minute due to a hurricane and host was excellent to work with us. If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely stay again.

Same spectacular vacation as we had here last year (see 9/8/2023 review). Our only disappointment was someone else beat us to booking the same time for next year. The serenity, comfort, views, and overall experience are perfect.

Thank you, for your kind review! We hope that you will stay with us on your next visit to Lubec!
This is an amazing place in a beautiful location. Our 2 standard poodles were with us, and this is easily the most dog-friendly place we've stayed. We enjoyed the large deck, and the comfortable screened porch. And the stars through the large windows and skylights! We live in Maine, and always enjoy being in Washington County, but this trip was special.

About the host
Hosted by Damon & Jamie Martin
We were looking for a summer house on a lake, but when we saw this location it was love at first sight! The first night that we stayed at the cabin we found the guest book and realized that our cabins were the summer getaway for many people already. We decided to continue to share this secluded, beautiful, place with others. Our goal is to provide a place for others to create happy memories.
Why they chose this property
Location! When we first arrived it looked like a moss covered forest and then we saw the wild, rocky beach. It is so quiet and private and the stars are so clear with no light pollution from any large city.
What makes this property unique
The bay is alive and is always changing. The colors, and the light are always different and exciting. Wildlife viewing is one of our favorite pass times. Eagles, seals, blue herons, huge pileated woodpeckers, and the occasional porcupine, can be seen.
Premier Host
They consistently provide great experiences for their guests
