Located in Alpine in the beautiful Southern Highlands, Little Forest is a secluded property ideal for hosting large groups. The property consists of 7 unique cottages set on 40 acres of lawn, gardens, waterways and bush. When you book the entire property you have exclusive access to all 7 cabins, giving you 20 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, enough to accommodate up to 44 people. A number of the cottages are pet friendly and the extensive outdoor area make this an ideal location for outdoor activities. You can even meet the resident Shetland ponies and alpacas.
Where will I be?
Nestled in Alpine within the scenic Southern Highlands, Little Forest spans 42 acres of natural bushland. Just a short drive from charming villages of the Southern Highland villages including Bowral, Berrima, and nearby Colo Vale, and the popular wedding venue Grow Wild, this peaceful retreat features seven distinctive cottages. Some cottages are tucked away in more private locations, while others are situated closer together. The Sydney–Melbourne railway line runs along one edge of the property, so passing trains can occasionally be heard—often an exciting feature for children! Guests can also explore a network of trails throughout the grounds, though children should be supervised at all times due to the presence of wildlife, unfenced dams, and nearby trains.

How is the property laid out?
All of the cottages are linked by a drive way that winds its way through the bush and gardens. Lavender Cottage, Studio Cottage, Orchard Cottage, Pottery Cottage and Angas Carriage are all in close proximity to each other and form the central focus point of the property. Eco Cottage are Oatley Cottage are slightly removed from the other cottages and provide a little more privacy for occupants.
Wi-Fi, Internet, Netflix or Pay TV will I have it?
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available and a password will be provided in your pre-arrival email. Please note that neither The Holidays Collection nor the owner can guarantee 100% that Wi-Fi will work, and no compensation will be payable if problematic. If Wi-Fi is important, please therefore always have a backup plan.
What about outdoors?
There are 40 acres of gardens and bush for guests to enjoy. There are bush trails which make accessing the bush very pleasant. There are two Shetland ponies, Bootie and Trumbie, and two alpacas, Augustine and Freda on the property for you to meet. Most of the cottages have generous verandahs or courtyards with barbeques and outdoors seating.
Please note that the tap water in the community BBQ area is not drinkable. This water comes from the dam and is not treated, please do not drink it under any circumstances. The water in the Cottages and Angas Carriage is safe to drink.
Keeping warm or keeping cool?
All cottages are heated, either by fireplace or electric radiator or, in some cases, both. Some cottages have air conditioning, and those that don't have fans.
What about sheets, towels and other supplies?
High quality sheets and towels are provided at Little Forest.
Toilet paper, kitchen soaps, guest soaps and some other supplies are also provided, but please be prepared to top up during your stay as needed. Regarding food, condiments and the like, please plan to bring everything you need. For safety and hygiene reasons, our houses generally do not supply food items.
Parking for cars, boats etc?
There is off street open air parking available for multiple cars nearby to each cottage.
Is my dog or cat also welcome to stay?
Please note that Orchard Cottage and the Angas Carriage are NOT pet friendly. The other 5 cottages are pet friendly subject to the following rules:
Pets must be declared at time of booking Please BYO pet bedding, bowls, etc. Absolutely no dogs on the furniture or in the bedrooms Please bag and dispose of doggy waste appropriately
Wildlife Please note that due to the nature and location of this property, wildlife may be about including possums, kangaroos, spiders and snakes. We do whatever we can to keep the property safe and do work with a network of wildlife removal experts, however we cannot guarantee that you will not see any wildlife at the property. If you do, we will use our best endeavours to have the animal removed or to make the property safe, however no compensation whatsoever will be paid for any disturbance caused by wildlife. You must book the property knowing that this risk exists, even though very uncommon.
What are the minimum stay rules?
- Summer Season: Between 2 and 7 nights, depending on the property - Easter: 4 nights - Long Weekends: 3 nights - All other times: 2 nights
Are there any special Summer Season rules?
Please note that during Summer Season, our properties may have designated changeover days so as to make the cleaning rosters manageable. We also do not schedule arrivals on the Christmas, Boxing, and New Years Day public holidays.
