Ewing House is nestled on a hillside, 60 feet above sea level, with the ocean bordering two sides and offering stunning views of the “mile-long” Long Bay Beach. Every bedroom and common room provides sweeping vistas of the endless Atlantic Ocean and nearby islands, with the iconic Jost Van Dyke being the most prominent. Many of our guests have praised Ewing House for offering the best view in Tortola.

Just a 2-minute walk from the house, the beach begins at the foot of our driveway, only about 50 yards away. Ewing House is one of the rare properties on Tortola directly located on a usable beach. Most other rental homes are perched up the hill, far from the beach, making our location a unique and desirable feature. You may even recognize this picturesque beach from calendars and other Caribbean publications.

Situated on Tortola’s West End, Ewing House provides easy access to a variety of beaches perfect for sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and surfing. The West End also boasts excellent restaurants, scenic walking and running loops along the ocean, as well as sailing and scuba diving day trips. If you prefer a more relaxed pace, you can simply unwind on the porch, reading in the shade or sunbathing while watching the waves roll in.

The house features three spacious bedrooms, each offering the same breathtaking view and size, with private baths and dressing areas. All bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning and ceiling fans for comfort.

Daily housekeeping services are provided by our wonderful manager, Christine. Whether you’re exploring the island or taking a short ferry trip to nearby islands, there’s always something to do. But if relaxation is what you’re after, you’ll find no better place to unwind.

The Ewing House was perfect for our family of 6 adults. We were attending daughter's wedding at Long Bay Resort and it was truly just a short walk down the hill. We actually enjoyed not having to eat all meal at Long Bay Resort and have our own space. Check in was simple, house is just as pictured and the mini splits in the bedrooms worked superbly. We enjoyed the open air of the living area although in the late afternoon, it did get warm. Spacious bedrooms with great closet space, bathrooms functional and hot water never was an issue even with 6 of us getting ready at the same time. Christine was very helpful when our flights leaving the island were canceled. Owner and Christine were responsive and accommodating and we always felt safe even late at night walking back from the resort. Can't wait to go back!!!!!

Beautiful beach house!

The house was perfect for our two families including two teenagers and 4 adults. Beach access and the beautiful view could not be beaten and the host and house manager were extremely helpful and responsive.

Oh what a VIEW!!!!

The view from the balcony is hands down breathtaking! The location and beach access is superb. The house had 3 ensuite bedrooms and an efficient floor plan.

View to die for

We loved our stay and the view after walking in front door never gets old. Were able to walk to our favorite beach (Smugglers Cove) and local restaurants. Sebastian’s and both restaurants at Long Bay resort were all very much enjoyed. Would highly recommend.

Ewing House hit the mark

We had a group at Long Bag Beach resort. Ewing House location was perfect to meet friends at the resort. we simply walked down the driveway and to the beach; 5 min walk max. House is very clean and the view is perfect.

I honestly don’t know how many times we have stayed at Ewing House. The views are wonderful and sunsets are often spectacular. The beach is very accessible and walkable. We highly recommend a stay.

We loved our stay largely because the view of the ocean and beach are absolutely stunning. Sounds of waves crashing below rocked us to sleep. Couldn’t wait to get up to sip coffee and watch the light dance on the water. Staff were friendly and helpful. Beds very comfortable and can be set up either as kings or twins which added flexibility. Well provisioned kitchen. Our host James was great in answering questions and provided a terrific house manual. He also let us store our luggage while the home was being cleaned and after we departed. Plus the West End of Tortola was far more appealing than the Road Town area. So lots of big pluses. There were also a few things that were sufficient but not up to that level. The furniture was fine but not much more. And the water pressure was really low, with hot water not much more than like warm. Also the beach below, while gorgeous, wasn’t really good for swimming as there are many stones. Finally, the driveway parking was very tricky. That aside, we loved our stay because the intimate connection with the Caribbean, location, and view.

We had a fantastic time. The house is in a great location. The views are amazing. The host was very prompt when I had questions and was very helpful with information about the house, restaurants, directions & car rentals. The house was clean, kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfortable, beach access, great restaurants at the end of driveway. Christine the house manager made sure the house was clean and refreshed with linens.

Tortola Retreat

Wonderful home in wonderful location. Beautiful view of long bay and Jost. Silky sand beach steps away. As well as two great restaurants. Shady 30 minute trek to Smugglers Cove, with nice snorkeling, calm waters and beach bars. Home has 3 king bedrooms with en suites, nice patio and decks, and good kitchen for meals at home. Great place!

A Gem in Paradise

The property is beautiful, overlooking beauty, with such a kind, helpful and beautiful housekeeper - Christine. The trending word in my review is obvious- beautiful. Overall very nice and comfortable house for 4 adult and 2 kids. Good and convenient location to all nice beaches and attractions . House keeper arrived Daily to clean she was very attentive. Only problem, was challenging to find the house when arriving at darkness.

Couldn't have been better!

We had the pleasure of spending a week at the Ewing House. It was spectacular! The house itself is amazing. There was plenty of space for the six of us and it was immaculate and well stocked . We spent every morning sipping coffee, while looking off the deck at the turtles swimming in the turquoise, crystal water. Days were spent lounging on the beach that is only steps away from the house. Mimi was responsive to anything we asked about or needed. I would recommend Ewing House to anyone looking for a truly relaxing, 5 star vacation. We can't wait to go back!!!!

Unable to enjoy view most of stay in April

We were not told about how hot main living area as air conditioning is only in bedrooms. The sun is so strong you can only tolerate deck with view early am and late pm. Also share driveway with another house and found ourselves blocked a few times. Septic backed up and could not do laundry or shower for 2 days. Seems being a rental they should check tank as it was full.

Great Time in the BVI!

We are 3 couples in our 60's visiting Ewinging House for the second time. The house is in a perfect location, right above the beach. We ate out almost every night; our favorites were Tropical Fusion, Bananakeet, Sebastians and Sugar Mill. We used Stouts Taxi service and Murlises Taxi. The beach had changed a bit since our last visit in 2016. The ocean was very rough and there was coral in the water so be careful where you walk. We spent a day at Smugglers Cove where the water was much calmer. Had drinks and wonderful hot dogs at Nigel's Boom Boom Beach Bar! In all, we had a wonderful stay. We didn't want to go home.

Ewing house at Long Bay

Heaven! Okay, more details. My wife and I returned to Long Bay for the first time in 40 years. We stayed at the old Long Bay Resort (now rebuilt) and the new resort looks sensational. We elected to stay at Ewing house for the kitchen and additional room and we were not disappointed. Great view of the beach and surrounding islands. The sunset was front and center on the deck of the house every afternoon. Truly a short walk to the beach. Christine, the housekeeper/welcoming committee/and more was priceless. We had ordered groceries ahead of our arrival and Christine put them away for us. We alternated eating at Tropical Fusion and 1748 and had great meals. Lunch or dinner at Sebastian's at the Beach was on our plan but we didn't make it there. I recommend Jerry's Car Rental which is a small local company but tremendous service. If you are renting a car and are not familiar with Tortola, print a map with good directions as there are no signs with street names or other indicators. Also do not plan to rely on GPS on your phone unless you get a phone that works on the island. Ewing house has three bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms so having the house for just my wife and myself seemed like we were not making proper use of the space so maybe soon we will return with family. Communication with the homeowner was great and helpful. We highly recommend Ewing house although we would prefer to keep it a secret so it would be certain to be available for us.

About the host

We originally built the home as a family with my husband, myself, my sister and my mother. The house was managed by my mom who was a pediatrician in Ohio and although she died in 1994, the house is still sometimes referred to as Dr. Ewing's house. My family currently resides in the Connecticut . My children and grandchildren have each come to the island since they were a few months old. It is a great place for children as they can play in the house during the day and as the living room is open to the sea side, you had the feeling of being at the beach without the sun.

Why they chose this property

We first visited the island as a family in 1973 and left the island 9 days later having purchased our site. The island really opened to tourists in 1966 when a small bridge was built connecting the small island called Beef Island to Tortola and an airport was built on Beef Island. We were one of the very first non-native families to build on the island and feel that we bought a particularly beautiful sight. The beach literally starts at the bottom of the driveway. . We are in walking distance to a number of good restaurants and hotels with their amenities. As we are on a point, we have a lot of privacy and never run the risk of losing our view.

What makes this property unique

We do have the view that we have seen on many calendars. It was on the Costco brochure last year for cruise travel. My mother was once in the dentist chair and saw it on his calendar hanging before her. As I said, it is a very short walk to the beach. It is easy to pop down and have a swim. We do have beach chairs if you want to stay but we frequently just go down and swim and then come up and enjoy the comforts of the open house as the walk back and forth is so easy. We are very close to a number of good restaurants.
