About this property
Vidanta Grand Luxxe 3BD/3BA "Spa" Suite or 2BD/2-1/2BA "Villa"
**Please note that I don't have Christmas/New Years or Holy Week/Easter available**
**The resort charges for golf and tennis, and gondola for amusement park w/o tickets**
**The resort charges about $25/day MX tax for a 3-bedroom Spa when you check out**
**The resort doesn't allow changes or cancellations outside of 90 days before check-in, and VRBO doesn't have this option - so although "no refunds" is indicated on VRBO, I do allow changes or cancelations if you can just let me know outside of 90 days before you're scheduled to check-in at the resort - thanks!**
This listing is for a 3-bedroom/3-bathroom “Spa” Suite, or for a 2-bedroom/2-1/2 bathroom "Villa” that has a sitting room (with a sleeper/sofa) in place of a true third bedroom. Some consider the sitting room of a "Villa" as a third bedroom, but a "Villa" is always going to be a 2-bedroom/2-1/2 bathroom - good for two (2) adult couples and a few kids, but you'll want the 3-bedroom/3-bathroom "Spa" Suite for anything more. The resort's usage fees (and my rate) are the same for either.
Generally, the number of full bedrooms of a Grand Luxxe accommodation is the same as the number of full bathrooms. If you are three (3) adult couples, then the "Spa" has three (3) full bedrooms, since it has three (3) full bathrooms. If you are two (2) adult couples, then the "Villa" has two (2) full bedrooms, since it has two (2) full bathrooms. If you are four (4) adult couples, then you'd want the 4-bedroom (please see below).
Rental is week-to-week, and check-in generally on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday (although the resort will make exceptions for other days if available). You can reserve up to twelve (12) months in advance.
A 2-bedroom/2-1/2 Suite (without additional sitting/sleeping room) is $25/night less, a 3-bedroom/4-bathroom Loft (located in Towers 3-5 is $150/night more, or a beachfront 3-bedroom/3-1/2 bathroom Presidential “Punta" is $275/night more.
A 4-bedroom Residence with private elevator, two (2) King beds, two (2) Double beds, and 4-1/2 bathrooms with two (2) Jacuzzi tubs is $325/night more.
If you can view this listing, then I should have weeks available to rent - but (being a fractional ownership), I would need to check with the resort if the resort has your requested dates available.
You can find floor plans to compare the 3-bedroom "Spa" (photo #17) and 2-bedroom "Villa" (photo #18) in the "Photos" section of this listing. Both the 3-bedroom "Spa" and 2-bedroom "Villa" have the same maximum capacity of ten (10) persons of which up to eight (8) can be adults (12 years and older), and come with a King bed in each of two of the bedrooms (although a Villa can occasionally have two doubles in its second bedroom rather than a King). Bedding also pulls out from under each of two (2) sofas in the living room, and the top of the sofas can be made into bedding at night as well.
Differences are that the "Spa" unit has a third bedroom with two (2) Double (or Queen) beds and a third full bathroom, while a "Villa" has an additional 1/2 bathroom and sitting room (with sofa, TV, phone, etc) that converts into a private sleeping area for an additional person at night. The "Villa" is a corner unit with a little more wrap-around view of the outside grounds, while the "Spa" is a middle unit that also has a massage room and table.
The maximum capacity for a 3-bedroom is ten (10) of which up to eight (8) may be adults, while a 4-bedroom is twelve (12) of which up to ten (10) may be adults. The resort counts an "adult" as 12 years and older, but does not count an "infant" (less than 3 years old ) in their maximum capacity limitation.
Two-for-one massages, gym and wet areas to relax, as well as Wi-fi and your own floor’s concierge are included during your stay. The resort is about a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport, but (unfortunately, as of 3/31/2023) the resort no longer provides its complimentary shuttle service.
Tower 1 is closest to the beachfront "Punta" building, while the newer tower 5 with "Loft" units is further inland. The "Spa" units are all located in tower 4 (on floors 4 - 9) and the "Villa" units are in towers 1 - 4 (on floors 1 - 9) as well as some now in tower 5. The south facing side of tower 1 has more direct views of the ocean and pool areas (photo #6), while the other towers have more distant side views of the ocean, facing inward (west) towards the resort (photo #12) or outward (east) at the Ameca River (photos #4 and #9) . You can find a map of the resort (photo #3) showing how these towers are arranged against the Ameca river on the east side of the property. Your accommodation is assigned at check-in (based on availability) - although I can request (not guarantee) whatever you prefer - but I don't think that you'll be disappointed wherever you stay at this resort.
You can book up to twelve (12) months in advance for the better availability - less if dates are flexible - but please always check on the resort’s availability before booking your flights!
The "Punta" should also be reserved further in advance, because it's "beachfront" with just four (4) 3-bedroom units on three (3) floors (and the top floors are just for Vidanta's founder/developer for when he's in town). The first photo of this listing shows the proximity of the "Punta" to the ocean, and was taken from a "Punta" common area balcony.

About the host
Hosted by Tim
I'm a CPA nearing retirement - working as a tax analyst for a software company. I live in Rancho Palos Verdes (Los Angeles area) CA with my pocket pit bull "Justin" that doesn't have any hair on his back, because kids poured battery acid on his back - regardless, he still loves and trust people, and I don't want to be away from him too long - so I'm here listing a few weeks that I can't use myself, and don't want to see the weeks go to waste.
Why they chose this property
For me, it's always been about the expansive grounds with all the beautiful foliage, lakes, and wildlife - as well as the numerous walking trails and swimming pools - some areas lively and bustling, and others where you can just find a place to yourself.
Initially, I owned at Nuevo Vallarta's Mayan Palace (which then extended to where the Grand Luxxe is today) - then upgraded to the Grand Mayan for access to its Waterpark - then the Grand Bliss which was a little quieter and newer - then the Grand Luxxe so I could use all the facilities and go anywhere in the resort (which at the time was just north of the Ameca River) - now the "Estates" which also includes south of the Ameca River, and finally the "Empire" part of the "Estates" that will be oceanfront (if it's ever built) - so no more upgrades when I go back this year!
I also knew that I might not be able to use all of my Grand Luxxe weeks - so it's great that I pay a "usage fee" only if I reserve a week - unlike other resorts that require an annual fee, regardless of whether a week is used or not.

What makes this property unique
The property has a great little shopping center with a deli, bakery, chocolates, frozen yogurt, and a grocery store - so you can snack in between meals, or eat in if you'd like. There are restaurants for every taste, but my favorites are the breakfast buffet, Bistro Bleu (French Bistro), and (of course) Custom-Made Burger! Vidanta also has an app where you can explore all of the food, activities, and layout of the resort.
