About the host
Hosted by Guillaume Ferber
We are a couple from Montréal who fell for the Eastern Townships one summer day while biking from Sherbrooke to Montréal. When we stopped in Ayer’s Cliff, we felt something special: the warmth of the people, the calm of the lake, and that rare mix of nature and life that makes you want to stay. Years later, we came back and never really left.
Hosting for us is about sharing that same feeling. We have traveled a lot, sometimes to faraway cities and sometimes to quiet corners of the world, and every stay taught us something about what makes a place feel like home. A soft blanket, a good book, sunlight through the trees. It is the small things that matter.
We love biking through the countryside, finding hidden coffee shops, getting lost in local bookstores, hiking in the hills, and skiing when the snow returns. These are the moments we hope you will find here too.
We speak French, English, and Chinese, and our philosophy is simple: hospitality should feel natural, sincere, and effortless, like being welcomed by a friend who knows exactly what makes you feel at ease.
Why they chose this property
We discovered Ayer’s Cliff during a bike trip from Sherbrooke to Montréal and immediately fell in love with its charm. The village sits by Lake Massawippi, surrounded by rolling hills, forests, and winding country roads that invite long rides and peaceful walks. What drew us most was the balance between tranquility and life: the morning hum of the café on Main Street, the laughter drifting from the park by the lake, and the friendly faces that make you feel part of the community from the first visit.
Living here means being close to everything we love. We can bike through scenic routes, stop by local coffee shops and bookshops, and enjoy seasonal farmers’ markets filled with regional flavors. In summer, the lake is perfect for swimming or paddleboarding; in autumn, the hills glow with color; and when winter comes, skiing and cozy evenings by the fire become part of the rhythm of life.
Ayer’s Cliff may be small, but it has a big heart. There is always something to enjoy, whether it’s a quiet sunrise over the water or the village coming alive during summer festivals. We chose this neighborhood because it reflects exactly what we value: authenticity, warmth, and the simple joy of feeling at home in a beautiful place.
What makes this property unique
Our property stands out for its character, warmth, and authenticity. Nestled in the heart of the Eastern Townships, it combines the charm of a century-old home with the comfort of modern amenities. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed to create a space that feels both welcoming and inspiring, whether guests come to rest, reconnect with nature, or explore the nearby lakes and villages. The interior blends rustic textures with contemporary touches, creating a harmonious balance between tradition and simplicity. From the carefully restored wood floors to the curated selection of books and local artwork, the house tells a story of quiet elegance and timeless beauty.
Guests often describe it as a place that feels like home from the moment they arrive. It offers privacy and tranquility while remaining within walking distance of cafes, shops, and scenic walking trails. The space is bright and airy, yet cozy and intimate during the colder months, especially when the wood stove is lit and the air fills with the warmth of the fire.
What truly sets this property apart is the atmosphere it evokes: peaceful mornings with coffee by the window, long evenings gathered around the table, and an unmistakable sense of calm that invites guests to slow down and savor the moment. Whether staying for a romantic weekend, a family retreat, or a creative escape, visitors find a place where simplicity and comfort meet in perfect balance. It is not just a place to stay; it is a place to breathe, reflect, and feel grounded in the beauty of the surroundings.
