Burt Lake is wonderful. The views from the house and deck are great. The large seating area at end of dock was especially fun. It is the most equipped house we've ever stayed in. So many extras were provided.

We had a great time at this very nice house. We had high expectations, which the house exceeded. The house and furnishings were excellent. Even fresh flowers in every room. The lawn, beach, dock and lake were also excellent. And we enjoyed walking in the nature preserve just across the street.
Fantastic place, pictures don't do it justice. Bedrooms have all been updated beautifully. Fully stocked kitchen. Fresh flowers and cookies upon arrival. Great location! Kayaks and corn hole. Would stay here again in a minute.
Wonderful cottage in a great location. Easy access to explore area sites. Cottage was beautiful with lots of room for our group of 9. Never felt crowded, with everyone having enough space to spread out. Hosts were quick to respond to any questions we had. A great memory-making vacation for all!
Great location, beautiful home and view with lots of space for our family reunion. We loved our time together. Kitchen is well stocked w cooking supplies and the host welcomed us w fresh cookies and flowers all around. Love having 2 refrigerators too, so one can be drinks and one can be food.

House was as advertised. Kitchen, bathrooms, & bedrooms all met our expectations. Beach, dock, & lake were all beautiful and great for swimming & boating. Had 4 kids between the ages of 4-8 and they loved swimming in the shallow clear lake. Owner's were easily accessible and very helpful, I would definitely recommend renting this property
Wonderful roomy, clean, and bright home. Well equiped. Beach is nice. On a quiet road not far from a boat ramp. This is a pretty quiet part of the lake. The yard has a nice mix of shade and sun. We enjoyed are stay with no surprises.

Beautiful home. Well equipped for cooking. Has everything you will need. Beds very comfortable. Decorated beautifully. Family obviously loves their home. Comfortable, peaceful, and plenty of room to roam. Loved it. Thanks for letting us use your home.
My husband and I plus 3 other couples vacation every year somewhere in Michigan at a different place every year. We chose this cottage as it had the required 4 bedrooms (plus an extra) and right on a lake. It was a beautiful cottage and we had a wonderful time. The kitchen was completely stocked with everything we needed. We had many corn hole tournaments, went kayaking and fishing, and many card games in the evening. Our favorite place was on the extended deck with chairs and tables. We may come back to this cottage sometime!

Eight Agree, Once Is Enough
Burt Lake is a beautiful lake but next time we will be looking for another house. The owners clearly take pride in their decorating but the house smelled very musty and some of the windows did not open and close properly. We could not use the dresser drawers as they smelled of mildew and the shower curtain needed laundering to remove thigh high orange mold. They boasted a gourmet kitchen which was missing basic necessities like a basting brush for grilling. The living room furniture was pretty, but very uncomfortable...which might have been on purpose as we were greeted with house rules posted everywhere including don't eat anywhere but at the table and don't sleep on the sofas. In spite of being respectful renters, we felt followed by the proverbial wagging finger all week long. Oh yeah, forgot to mention the noise from construction on the next lot over and the run away toilet. On the positive, we enjoyed the hammock, kayaks and canoe, the beach area for fires, and the yard was large enough to set up our badminton set. The large size kitchen and table seating eight was perfect. The pie was also nice, but did not make up for the shortcomings we encountered.

Was quite surprised to read this review, in light of the fact that you wrote a wonderful review in our guest book at the cottage. You also were kind enough to give us a nice bottle of wine as a thank you. We have had many wonderful families stay at our home and have always had very positive comments.
The musty smell may have come from the fact that your family followed a week of heavy rain last summer. That being said, we are one of the few cottages in our area that have central air and all of the windows do open and close. Running the AC or opening a few windows would have been solutions to the damp smell you intimated.
The drawers are wooden and we did not notice a smell but have since put cedar in them at your suggestion. The shower curtain was due to someone using hair color in the shower and has been replaced. The basting brush is in the cupboard with the grilling tools. We provide much more in the kitchen than most rentals as well as spices, oils, and baking supplies. We are surprised about the furniture complaint as many people have made positive comments about the furniture.
Every house we have ever rented has had house rules and information. I put a few signs around for kids, etc that might forget to use coasters, etc. Remember we want to keep our home nice for everyone and not everyone in your party will read the house rules/info. The runaway toilet could have easily been fixed by calling us. We are sorry about the noise from our neighbor's construction, we have no control over their project which is now complete. Again we are very committed to having our guests have a pleasant experience and we go the extra mile to make your vacation a wonderful one. We have many returning guests as well. Thank you for your suggestions.
This is our second year vacationing on Burt Lake, but first year in this house on the west side of lake. The house was perfect for us - grandma and grandpa on one side of house and parents and grandkids in the 4 bedrooms on the other side. Beautiful home with all the amenities we could possibly want. Two fire pits, one on the beach and one next to house, that we really enjoyed. We rented a pontoon for two days and had a blast tubing, hitting the sandbar, and taking great cruises around the lake. Will definitely book again!!!!!
What a wonderful trip we had! The house was as advertised, very clean and with amazing views! The location on the lake could not be beaten, as we were always sheltered from the wind, which made the spot right out front the smoothest place on the lake for tubing and swimming.
Would rent again for sure!
Top notch experience all the way through… you can’t beat northern Michigan, especially when you find a gem like this place. Cottage was clean and very well prepared - the details taken care of by the hosts were very impressive!
Very nice and clean. Well maintained. The fresh flowers and cookies on kitchen counter were especially nice. Ample rooms and baths. Plenty of clean towels etc. Owners were easy to contact and quick to respond.
Great cottage and property. My family made lasting memories throughout our week stay. The cookies and flowers were a nice touch upon arrival. Check-in was simple. Scott and Cynthia were very responsive. My feedback (still 5 star review across the board) would be to add a fire pit on the side of the house. The beach fire pit couldn’t be used due to high water level. Great job to the owners.
This home was nearly perfect for our group of 6 adults and 4 children. It has a very open and large common area (living room, dining area, sunroom and kitchen). The bedrooms are on the smaller side, but absolutely fine. The lake and dock were great and the kids were in the water all of the time; we had a perfect weather week! I think my only "wish" would be for a larger outdoor deck.
