About this property

Walk in the forest and cycle to the sea

The Huatoki Hideaway is a large yet cozy subterranean sanctuary peacefully positioned on the very edge of New Plymouth and is surrounded by native forest and the nearby Huatoki stream with its 4km streamside track down to the waterfront.

This warm, spacious apartment has its own private entrance and is equipped to a high standard with full kitchen.

There is ample safe parking for vehicles, areas to eat outside and native forest and bird life.

The space
There is a spacious and seperate Kitchen and dining area and a good size lounge and sleeping area part of which is below ground providing a quiet and well insulated stay. All areas of the apartment have been renovated.

Guest access
Guests have complete and exclusive access to the Huatoki Hideaway apartment. The lower rear lawn is accessed by a gate next to the apartment that leads to the lower deck by the stream.

Other things to note
Beautiul forest walks start by the bridge just around the corner, and tennis courts are just 10 minutes walk away. The famous New Plymouth seafront walkway is just 20 mins bike ride along the Huatoki streamside walkway or 10 minutes by car. Or head inland and just 15 minutes by car will take you to the Mangorei road Trailhead at the foot of Mt Taranaki with its 2hr hike to the Pouaki hut. Or for a more gentle experience head to the Tupare Gardens with its supurb 1920's house, gardens and river just 7 mins by car. There are heaps more nearby suggestions in the Huatoki Hideaway.

Originally from Berkshire, England; living 18 years in Takapuna and 7 years in New Plymouth. New Plymouth has got a great mix of parks and gardens, surf, tramping and Alpine hiking, as well as theaters and venues. We love making our accommodation interesting and welcoming and are always adding little touches to enhance our guests' stays.

Why they chose this property

This location is right on the edge of the outer suburbs of New Plymouth and merges into mature forest. It has outstanding walking and cycling trails into the small forested area and along the stream down to New Plymouth and the sea. I love the forest and the cycling/walking trails. Its great being so close to town and on the way to the mountain.
