About this property
Romantic Cottage in the Blue Mountains with Valley Views
Wonga Hut is located on southern side of Hazelbrook in the lower Blue Mountains. Perched on a ridge looking out over rolling hills that stretch onto the horizon, it is perfectly harmonised in its outlook, with both the sublime, natural outlook of the Blue Mountains National Park as well as the beautifully designed cottage garden, which is planted with enchanting fruit trees mixed in with natives and continentals. Beautiful hardwood sliding doors take in the gun-barrel views of Terrace Falls that you can gaze at whilst drinking a hot cup of tea or coffee in bed, before you go for one of the fabulous bush walks within a minute's drive from your doorstep. If you're more gregarious, and like to get out and about, you can go up to Lawson and visit Black Cockatoo, a destination that Matt Moran has heralded as one of the most underrated bakeries in Australia. The cottage shares our property with a separate main guest house unique in that they are separated by over 20m of terraced gardens providing privacy for all guests.

Lovely little cottage at the bottom of the garden. It is important to note that there are two rental properties at this location- the main rental house is at the front, but there is sufficient separation. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The views from the cottage were incredible and the verandah was a special place to sit, have coffee and admire said views. Stunning walks very close by too.

Problem finding key and code after incorrect details were given. When that was sorted out we enjoyed our stay.Guests should be advised that there are two properties on the same block.
Wonga Hut is an idyllic, peaceful and perfectly self contained cottage, surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens and a magnificent valley outlook from the wrap around verandah. The cottage is perfect for 1-2 guests and has everything you need for quiet or romantic or indulgent getaway stay. Jack (host) and Karen (property mngr) were outstanding to deal with, remarkable communication and couldn't do enough to ensure my stay was comfortable and everything I was looking for-serenity, peace, wifi! and a place for deep reflection, heart-full thanks to both, hope to stay again later in the year-Sally
We stayed 9 nights - it was cosy and just what we needed while our house was being painted. Only has a kitchenette but with a bit of imagination we managed to cook for 2. Magnificent views and gardens.

Absolutely beautiful cabin with great views of local bushland, and very quiet and private. Only a 10min walk to the railway station, which was very convenient for a non-driver like myself, and close enough to shops to be able to pick up supplies. The perfect spot to recharge my batteries, and I'll definitely look at staying here again.
Jack's property is fantastic, beautiful garden and lovely outlook over the valley. The main house is a classic, very cosy with everything a family would need. The guest house is also great, directly overlooking the valley - perfect spot for an evening drink! The house is close to Hazelbrook shops (awesome bakery), perfect for a weekend or longer stay :)
My husband and I really enjoyed staying at the Wonga Hut property in Hazelbrook. It was close enough that we could get into the Three Sisters and also feel like we were not quite stuck with the tourists (even though we were literally some outselves!!). Communication with the hosts were fabulous and they made sure we were comfortable with our stay. The view at the back of this property is simply breathtaking.

So pleased you could make the most of what the mountains has to offer. Hope we we can host you again soon.
Jack and Karen were fantastic and the cottage was wonderful. The gardens were a special highlight and we certainly intend to go back. The verandah and views were stunning.
The only confusion was that it's listed as 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and sleeps 2 and there was 1 bedroom with 2 fold out couches and 1 bathroom.? It didn't matter as there was only 2 people.

About the host
Hosted by Karen Davidson
We moved to the mountains originally to care for my elderly dad, so we could have more space, and because we had a love gardening and the outdoors. My wife is an artist and enjoys having space for her own studio, and I am a writer, and enjoy the absence of distractions in the city.
Why they chose this property
Hazelbrook is closer to Sydney than the upper-mountains, and has fewer tourists. The bush walks and trails in Terrace Falls at the back of our property are spectacular, Bedford Pool is stunning, descending into deep valleys that hidden to the naked eye, with old growth forests that have Turpentine Trees and Angophoras that are hundreds of years old. Up the road there is the best bakery on the mountains, Black Cockatoo, and the book store—Rosy Ravelston—which has an excellent collection of second-hand books. On the whole it is quieter and more community oriented, and if one needs to go to the upper mountains, it's only a short drive.
What makes this property unique
The cottage garden, which is contemplative and inward looking, mixed with the expansive views of Terrace Falls. It is also quiet, with no neighbours to the west, and a property to the east that is rarely occupied.
