Welcome to Sand Dollar Beach House!

One of best parts of Sand Dollar Beach house is the beach! When you walk out the front door of the cottage the beach is about 15 yards away. It is a private beach, accessible mainly to the cottages in the immediate surrounding area. We have the most beautiful beach on the South Shore with the warmest waters north of South Carolina. When the tide is low there are sandbars (1.5km!) which makes a for a giant playground for children (and adults!) and a great place for long walks. Stroll through the tidal pools, dig for clams, or beachcomb for sea glass, sand dollars and other ocean treasures. At high tide the width is approx 30 feet and at low tide 400 ft. Unlike the Cavendish Atlantic waters, we have no undertows and the shallow waters extend out for hundreds of feet, at which point they are still only waist-deep, making the beach perfect (and safe) for young children. This is a great beach for families! (Beach chairs, towels and toys are provided.) Rinse the sand off in the outdoor shower before heading into the beach house to relax.
The Sand Dollar Beach House has room for 8 guests. Please note that two single beds are located in a LOFT area. It is accessible by regular stairs but is open to the main living area. There is not a door separating the loft from the other areas. The loft bedroom is equipped with a TV and DVD player. This would be a great room for kids or just a space to sneak away from the vacation chaos.
The cottage has a screened in porch accessible through a patio door. This lovely area is perfect for balmy summer evenings. Listen to the waves crash while chatting with family and friends. After you watch the sunset, (and this is one of the best I have seen!) head out to the campfire pit to roast a hotdog and have a s'more.
There is a large lawn around the cottage for kids to run around and play games.
The main area is open concept. Relax on comfortable furniture that looks out to the beach and an amazing view ocean view. Cook up some seafood or other local fare in the fully stocked kitchen. Lobster anyone? There is a seafood co-op less than 5 minutes up the road that sells a variety of fresh seafood straight off the boat.
If you need a break from exploring, the beach house offers satellite TV, wifi and a DVD player. There is a small selection of movies, books, puzzles and games.
You will be in the heart of L'Acadie! This area of Prince Edward Island is still unspoiled (not overrun with other tourists!) and will provide a truly authentic Island experience for those looking for something a bit out of the ordinary! This is an Acadian area, where the people are incredibly friendly and speak both English and French. The Western part of Prince Edward Island is incredibly laid-back and easy going. You might be the only person on a sandy beach that stretches for miles!l
Close to the cottage:
*Fish market at a working fishing wharf is just down the road.
*Just up the road a few Km is a nice bakery/restaurant called Le Gallette blanche with has a wide variety of Acadian dishes and sweets such as meat pies and rapure.
Nearby:
*Wellington (10 minutes) is a small village with any and all amenities you could want.
* Summerside (25 minutes) is a bustling small city with tons to do, see and eat.
If you choose to head further up the western part of the Island you will find miles and miles of shoreline to explore, lighthouses, and quaint villages that are worth taking an extra look.
Cavendish is always an option, as well as bustling, sophisticated Charlottetown. They are a bit further away but would make a great day outing. I can provide a more in depth "curated" list of the Island's best tourist hot spots AND hidden gems known only to the locals.
Provided/included for your convenience:
Fully equipped kitchen
Bedding, towels/beach towels
Cooler
Lounge chairs
Folding beach chairs
TV, cable, Internet
Games, books, DVDs
Small selection of children's toys
BBQ

Hi! My name is Kim. I am photographer living in beautiful Prince Edward Island Canada. My husband Ryan is a paramedic and we have a beautiful 7 year old daughter named Addie. I love to travel, collect sea glass, read and go to the beach!
My favourite travel destinations so far have been Tulum, Mexico and London, England. And Greece, can't forget about Greece! I have used VRBO and other similar sites to find unique accommodations all over the world. However, there is no place that I would rather be than Prince Edward Island in the summertime!
When we moved "home" to PEI several years ago it wasn't hard to decide to list our cottage so that we could share "our little island" with other travellers!

Why they chose this property
I grew up on Prince Edward Island and spend my summers at the beach. I lived away in a different province for 13 years and started to miss the ocean. We decided to move back several years ago and have loved living on this little island again!
I love travelling and liked the idea of having a cottage to rent to vacationers. After searching for the perfect place and then spending several months revamping it...Sand Dollar Beach house was ready to go! We are so proud of our place and hope you love it as much as we do!

What makes this property unique
We loved the look of the cottage. It has a lovely laid back beach feel that just begs you to rest and relax.
When we travel my family likes to experience our destinations a little off the beaten path. The beach house is located in a unique and very special part of PEI that is not as busy or touristy. It is still close to anything you would like to see, but offers a more authentic Prince Edward Island experience.
I loved the community that the beach house is near. It is a bilingual acadian (French/English) area with incredibly friendly and welcoming people.
And the best part of the property...The beach! We fell instantly in love with the lovely secluded beach. The beach is quintessentially PEI. Red sands, warm waters and walking for miles when the tide is out. When you step outside the door the beach is right there! We were excited to find out that you can find sand dollars. This is very rare in PEI! I collect sea glass (and can tell you some top secret spots to find some if you want to try too.) but have not ever encountered a sand dollar while out beach combing.
The cottage is so close to the water you can hear the waves in the quiet evening. Who hasn't dreamed about being lulled to sleep by lapping waves!
