The hotel is ideally placed along Gran Via with several public transport options close by to help us get tio anywhere in Madrid or outside. The gran Via itself is a happening place with lots of Theatre, shopping, restaurants around and is buzzing all the time. The Hotel is well maintained and the staff are friendly. The room comes with a kitchen and utensils for our needs. The only drawback is the breakfast-which is quite limited in its choices and doesn't offer much beyond the croissants and fruits.

A very comfortable and well furnished place to stay and less than 50 metres to the Metro. I love the hotel restaurant. Great food and a lovely team working in there. Nothing is too much trouble. Spotless and conveniently located.

The situation is excellent, the room is big with a window overlooking the Gran Via. Despite this it is relatively noise-free. The décor and amenities are a little tired. Staff were helpful and friendly. Access to the hotel reception was not the easiest I have encountered.

Excellent for visit to Madrid

This was the second time that we have stayed here, and we hope to visit again. The property is in a perfect position for exploring the city and local area. Easy connection to airport by metro. Friendly and helpful staff. Great value for money. Would strongly recommend.

Great location

Close to two metro stops to get into the centre as well as out to the airport. Comfy beds, helpful staff, able to leave luggage, a few toiletries for use plus hairdryer. Didn't use the restaurant so can't comment, overall a good base for Madrid for a couple of nights, would recommend. Well priced as well.

Central location

Espahotel is central to all the hustle and bustle of madrid. The rooms are extremely comfortable albeit a little dated. The rooms are cleaned to s high standard, however, paint touch ups and grout renewal would improve the overall look. Surprisingly much of the noise of the gran via can't be heard in your room. The most disappointing thing about the hotel is the attitude of the staff in the breakfast room. They are rude and unhelpful. It seems as if they don't want to be there and if you ask them anything you receive a curt response, unusually in Spanish. The buffet breakfast is poor quality and I would recommend eating out! The reception staff are often busy and a better system is needed for dropping off and collecting of key. I would like to commend Ana on her level of customer service. She went above and beyond her duties. If the other staff took a leaf out of her book the hotel would be a much nicer place to stay!

Great location

The hotel is really well located - only ten minutes from the Royal Palace and some really central plazas. We really enjoyed having an apartment style room so that we could save a bit of cash by buying bigger bottles of water and keeping them in the fridge and having some grub ready for a quick breakfast before heading out for the day to explore. The only negative of the room was that the spare duvet was a little stained but this was minor considering everything else - we even had a view of the Cathedral and Royal Palace from our room! We'd definitely stay if we come back to Madrid (which was are hoping to do at some point as we fell in love with the city!)

Nice Hotel, Good central location

The hotel is in a very central, but expensive, part of the city. The room itself was fine although decor is very dated. We were pleasantly surprised to find a small kitchen area in the room with a fridge, microwave, sink and hob (no kettle though!). The room was very clean apart from a slightly smelly fridge. The air con was very good once we figured out that we needed to close the inner door to stop it sucking the cold air straight back out. Shower was very powerful and the bed was comfy. The staff were friendly enough and helpful when we asked them if they could help with printing boarding passes. Overall, our stay was good but would maybe look to stay in the medieval district next time.

The trip was amazing, we will definitely be back to Madrid in the near future.. The hotel was in the city centre and was 2min walking distance to the nearest metro, which was easy to use for travelling about the city. The hotel was very nice and had the best staff I have every come across, nothing was a problem to them... The only thing about the hotel that had a negative for me was the hotel asked how many beds we wanted and we paid for three which was on one of the pictures, which I think is decefing as we were given a room with two beds and a pop up bed which wasn't the best ...

Excellent location, everything we needed

The hotel is perfectly placed to provide a base for all the major attractions in Madrid. In 4 days we did not have to use a taxi or public transport to do everything we had planned (art galleries, museums, the palace and cathedral). Plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance too. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and provided everything we expected. The kitchenette facilities are quite basic - enough for a continental breakfast, or afternoon tea, but not sufficient for a cooked meal. This was just what we needed. It is worth noting that there were very few food shops (that we found) near the hotel; it was not easy to find anywhere to buy even the basics, such as coffee or milk.

Great location, clean, friendly & good value

Great location in centre of Madrid. Staff were really helpful and room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was ok with a good selection for most tastes. Always fresh and tasty. Get a room high up to avoid noise and be prepared for late night revellers. Close to Plaza Espana and great restaurants. Good value hotel for a city centre and welcoming. Free wifi was useful. Loved Madrid, the people and the would go back in a heart beat. 😊
