West Chiltington cottages

We spent a lovely few days at Lychgate Cottage. We did find it a bit difficult to locate the property once in the village and didn’t have a telephone number to contact the owners or Vrbo. The cottage was very cosy and equipped with everything we could want and more. We were supplied with lots of essentials on arrival (ie tea, coffee, bread , milk etc) and more. Anthony and Marilyn welcomed us on arrival and Marilyn showed us around the cottage. Henfield is a small village only about 5 minutes walk from the cottage and has 2 supermarkets a pharmacy and several other small shops and 4 pubs. We were extremely happy with the cottage and would highly recommend it. Marilyn and Colin

Lovely cottage, very comfy beds, host was friendly

We had a lovely stay at the cottage, however we did have a couple of problems. Our stay covered a Monday and Tuesday and pretty much all the pubs and restaurants are closed on mondays and Tuesdays - alternative choices would be very helpful. The lack of shower was disappointing. Yes, we should have checked beforehand, but not having a shower is unusual these days. It put us off using the hot tub, knowing other people would not have showered before using it. The location was wonderful, a stunning part of the country and the cottage was beautifully decorated with a lot of care. Though you are on the owners property, this was never a problem.

This cottage had 2 double bedrooms and 2 shower rooms. It was very comfortable ,clean and well equipped. The weather was warm and sunny so we made a lot of use of outdoor seating area to relax and dine. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. The surrounding area is so peaceful, with lots of trees. The South Downs is nearby, as are several gardens and stately homes to visit. We had a wonderful relaxing week. Thank you.

We had a lovely time at Manor Cottage over a long weekend. Although it is just a 1 bedroom cottage the proportions are good and perfect for a couple...with a dog. The cottage was well presented and had modern fittings. We ate all our meals in the cottage and found the kitchen to be well equipped. The garden was a good size and safe for our dog. The location of the cottage was great. There is a very good village shop, and a butchers shop as well as two pubs in the centre of the village. We walked directly from the cottage, Our walk around Cissbury ring was mostly off-road on established paths. We also crossed the main road and walked up Church Hill on footpaths, which has some great views. We also visited Ferring Beach and had a great Fish & Chip lunch at the Bluebird before we headed home.

Thank you so much Sanne for being such an awesome host. Your attention to detail was fabulous. Your 'welcome' cake went down so well amongst other goodies. As for the Cottage, my stay was just so comfortable and the surroundings were so peaceful and tranquil. My highlight was spending time by the Lake, seeing those beautiful waterlillies. I highly recommend this gem of a place. Such a shame to leave but will definitely be back.
