Delightful, Dog-Friendly Cottage in Millbrook, Cornwall near the coast
Chandos Cottage is a delightful and charming Cornish cottage, dating back to 1855. We love the area, for its people as much as the beautiful location, which is set in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Millbrook is an unpretentious and laid-back village with a strong community spirit. From the moment you step inside the cottage, we want Chandos to feel like a home from home. A place where you can instantly relax and start to enjoy your holiday. The cottage has a spacious, yet homely feel to it. Wi-Fi is available and some rooms have an electric socket with USB ports. The dining room is a great social space in which to gather around the large farmhouse table. The kitchen is well equipped with an induction cooker, double oven and microwave. The pantry is stocked with many cooking basics to help your stay be an easy one. Across the central hall is the cosy living room, in which to unwind and relax. There is a smart television and comfy sofas to sink into, should you want to while away the evening. Upstairs, off of the landing, is the family bathroom, with a shower over the bath. The bathroom is light and airy. A few more stairs and you find two spacious bedrooms, with built in wardrobes and chest of drawers. The beds are both King-size. These bedrooms flank the middle bedroom, which has 2 single beds, storage shelves and a shared bedside cabinet. The back garden is mainly laid to grass, is fully fenced and has 2 terraces. The village has pretty much everything you could need for a holiday stay, a local pharmacy, 2 pubs (often hosting local live music), 2 local supermarkets, a fabulous independent fruit and veg shop, a stationary/hardware shop which can stock the most unlikely things, a fish and chip and shop and a couple of cafes (one of which, The Honey Room Café, tucked behind Widdecombe’s fruit and veg shop, is vegetarian / vegan), the other Lucy’s Kitchen does coffee and cakes. Nestled in a pretty little inlet, Millbrook is only minutes away from stunning coast line, beautiful, clean beaches and a myriad of walking and cycling opportunities. Nearby are the popular tourist towns of Kingsand and Cawsand, boasting many pubs, a lovely bakery/cafe and various water sports activities for young and old alike. Plymouth is within easy reach, using the Cremyll ferry as a pedestrian or approximately a 40 minute car journey using the Torpoint ferry. You can park up for the day and catch the pedestrian ferry. The nearby Mount Edgecumbe Estate is a great place to walk amongst nature and enjoy fantastic views over the water towards Plymouth, Devon and the Cornish coast. For those not travelling by car, the village is accessible by coach or train to Plymouth and then bus or taxi to Millbrook. Alternatively, you can catch a train to nearby St Germans (approximately a 20 minute drive). Parking: There is a local car park about 100 metres away from the cottage, to use on weekdays and Saturdays. You will be okay to unload the car outside the house, and then just move to the car park at The Parade PL10 1AX or there is also parking along the lake on New Road (less than a five minute walk). You can park outside the house 6pm-9am weekdays and Saturdays as well as all day on Sundays.
