Introducing the very special Ca’ Del Monastero - a fine antique residence comprising 9 superbly restored apartments of varying size (including Ca’ Del Monastero 9 - see its dedicated section below) situated in what was once the monastery connected to the ancient Church of San Degolà (one of the oldest in Venice), moments from the Grand Canal in the district of Santa Croce.
Enjoying an atmosphere of calm serenity in what must surely be one of Venice’s most evocative and unspoilt neighbourhoods - indeed a step back in time - the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments offer spacious and beautifully presented accommodation for small and medium size parties or up to 38 guests if taken together.*
No expense has been spared in its recent remodelling…
Carefully co-ordinated contemporary furnishings and soft neutral colours meld seamlessly against a traditional backdrop of polished red marble and/or traditional Venetian terrazzo flooring, while stylish high-spec fittings and attractive finishes, such as textured resin walls and luxurious feature wall coverings, give a fresh and fashionable twist to the building’s ancient framework.
Enhanced by a range of up-to-date facilities as demanded by today’s savvy traveller (including air-conditioning***, Wi-Fi internet connection and communal utility facilities), the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments are perfectly placed for communing with the true and heart and soul of the city and for visiting all that Venice has to offer while providing all the comforts of modern city living.
*Are you a part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer eight other apartments within this residence: Ca’ Del Monastero 1, Ca’ Del Monastero 2, Ca’ Del Monastero 3, Ca' Del Monastero 4, Ca’ Del Monastero 5, Ca’ Del Monastero 6, Ca’ Del Monastero 7, Ca’ Del Monastero 8.
Ca’ Del Monastero 9
Spoil yourself rotten in this seductive new penthouse kitted out in such style that you’ll never want to leave!
A striking addition to the fabulous Monastero family – with real personality and chock-full of charm – Ca’ Del Monastero 9 sleeps 4 guests in surroundings where the ancient and contemporary link together as one.
Recently refurbed in such a way as to blend seamlessly into the overall aesthetic of the residence, and displaying a novel and imaginative approach to layout and functionality, the apartment is reached by taking a lift to the second floor, followed by two short staircases rising to meet you from the splendid communal entrance on the ground floor below.
Prepare to be bowled over as you step across the threshold into this handsome Santa Croce ‘home-from-home-with-a-heart’, where ruggedly hewn timbers soar overhead, russet red marble gleams with mirror-like effect, and comfortreigns supreme.
A clever re-configuration of the plentiful space, accommodation comprises a stylish and cosy main sitting room/TV area* in lavender blue and with elephant grey seating beneath sloping eaves and, just to the side, a well-equipped kitchen/breakfast area* with all mod cons.
A modern chandelier-lit dining area with a dining suite for 4 plus a small relaxation area lies just beyond, and to either side, Ca’ Del Monastero 9’s bright and radiant dual-aspect double bedrooms designed along clean lines and each separated from the dining area by a sliding partition** - one with a double bed, and the other with two singles which can be converted into a double bed upon your request.
And completing the accommodation at the opposite end of the apartment - a handy cloakroom, and two spotless and equally well-designed bathrooms, one with a bathtub* and separate shower and the other with a shower.
* Please consult the photo gallery carefully for an idea of the sloping ceilings/restricted headspace present in certain areas of the apartment
** Please bear in mind if seeking absolute privacy that these partitions do not reach full ceiling height!

Style, creature comforts and history combined, in an area brimming with local flavour.
Within easy walking distance of Venice’s Santa Lucia Railway Station and Piazzale Roma if travelling light, and even closer to the vaporetto (waterbus) stops at Riva di Biasio and San Stae on the Grand Canal for hassle-free travel around the city.
And so much to see and do right on your doorstep…
Moments to Campo San Giacomo Dell’ Orio - one of Venice’s most charming ‘away from the crowds’ tree-filled squares and home to a well-stocked Coop supermarket and nearby local shops - and a short walk to a Conad supermarket on the Rio Marin canal.
Close to a great variety of cafes, bars and eateries including All’ Anfora, La Zucca, Il Refolo, Al Prosecco and Antica Besseta to name but a few, and within minutes of the Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art, Palazzo Mocenigo at San Stae (Museum of the History of Fabrics, Costumes and Perfumes) and the Fondazione Prada at Ca’ Corner Della Regina.

We had a great visit. Easy to find and access. Landry was possible in the building and AC was good which was nice considering the extreme heat. Would definitely recommend.

Thank you Rob, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Hope very much that we see you again soon. With our very best wishes.
Close to major paths and waterways to get taxi or gondola or even bus. Enjoyed our stay with friends and the romance and charm of the property. Thank you.
This rental property was exactly what we were looking for and local walking to everything needed. The property manager Matteo was excellent he was patient with us and gave us so much information and more and all was on target. He even booked our transportation to and from. I would definitely recommend this place.

Very spacious apartment. One bathroom had a bit of a musty smell, but it is Venice. Overall it was very nice.

The property was really nice. It was very good and comfortable. The only bad thing was that we had to take all of our heavy luggage up 2 flights of stairs because there were no elevators past level 2. Overall, everything was really good.

Check-in was very easy, with someone meeting us and going through everything. overall the property was well located and is a large space for a family. The aircon is not powerful enough to get the place cool in the middle of summer and as the bathrooms don't have any aircon they get extremely hot

Spacious, quiet, well-appointed
The apartment is in a quiet square away from the crowds. Nowhere in Venice seems to be more than 30 minutes’ walk from anywhere else so the location can’t be called inconvenient. The person who met us was helpful and efficient and the apartment itself perfectly clean and tidy. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. There were four of us and we had a very pleasant few days. Highly recommended.
This was a MASSIVE apartment, in Santa Croce, with lots of amenities nearby - great restaurants, close to transit, local shops and supermarket. The apartment was nicely decorated, easy to get to, and quiet, with everything we needed for our stay. My only complaint was that check-in was very poorly communicated. We arrived in Venice with no instructions on meeting time or location and were met with correspondence through their app, my email, my cell phone, and What'sApp from four different people - it was really confusing and frustrating. That said, the apartment itself was great and we would definitely stay again.

Beautiful Apartment Close to Everything!
Ca’ Del Monastero 9 is just as beautiful in person as it is in the photos! It is comfortable, cozy and well equipped with everything we needed during our stay. The apartment is quite spacious with windows that provide views of neighboring rooftops as well as the street below. The location is very convenient a short walk to restaurants (including Majer for breakfast), a gelateria, a grocery store and several bars and wineshops. There is a private water taxi stop not too far away and the public water taxi stop is just a few minutes away walking. The neighborhood was quiet, clean and safe. It's also within walking distance to the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco, with lots of distractions (shops and restaurants along the way). Luca, who met us upon arrival, was so awesome! He explained everything we needed to know, provided recommendations and checked in on us during our way. An overall wonderful experience!
The apartment is well located for arrival by train and the property manager and agent Amir were very accommodating of our delayed arrival due to a late train. After showing us the amenities, Amir also provided a map and annotated some key locations. If you rent here, please note that the bedroom walls do not go to the ceiling. This helps with climate control but everyone will hear everyone. Also, there are 2 bathrooms but neither is an en suite. The bathrooms are across the apartment from the bedrooms, near the door. There is an elevator that will take you to the 2nd floor, but there is one more flight of stairs to the top floor apartment. The laundry is on the ground floor and one washer and dryer serve the whole building--you are asked to not wash at night. The apartment has at least 7 small A/C units so climate control was great. The kitchen is well equipped. The ceiling is sloped so taller people need to watch their heads if working at the counter. The location is just a bit off the main routes, so it's convenient but also quiet. This is a good choice for a stay within the city.

Spazioso appartamento sotto tetto a Santa Croce

Ciao Venezia
Great location for our family. We loved Venice!
Excellent service I will use and recommend views on Venice.

About the host
Hosted by Views On Venice
Views on Venice was founded in the late 1990’s when the concept of short term apartment rentals was in its infancy and rarely considered an option by most visitors to the city. As a ‘thirty-something’ Venetian excited by the new business and communication opportunities offered by the internet, I decided to link up with a close childhood friend in creating a partnership which, at the time, was a novelty in Venice. The idea we had in mind was to approach the traditional management of my family’s apartments from an entirely different angle, while at the same time resisting the attentions of those wanting to transform my family's palazzo into a prestigious hotel. Our aim was to offer these apartments, as well as those of friends, for rental to an international clientele who’d take pleasure in the comfort, freedom and authenticity of ‘living at home as a Venetian’ rather than merely observing the city from the confines of an anonymous hotel room or suite. The common denominator then, as now, was to offer ‘something extra’ amidst an already extraordinary city - an added dimension which turns a ‘stay’ into an ‘experience’ and a 'dream' into 'reality'.
