THE SPACE

Adelaide Hill sits on the edge of Pine Mountain Club, overlooking the breathtaking view of the endless Chumash Wilderness. Located only 70 miles from Los Angeles and just 20 Minutes Off the I-5 Freeway, Pine Mountain Club and its surrounding mountains are territories of great spiritual significance to the Chumash Indians who lived here hundreds of years ago. It is a real honor to live in the cradle of sacred Mt. Pinos and to be in the shadows of the Chumash universe. One can certainly feel that other-worldly vibe the second you step into Adelaide Hill. With its comfortable and beautiful furnishings and massive 20-foot picture windows in the great room, the views and opportunities to relax are endless. Sit by the fire or step out onto one of the two wrap around decks and get a better look of The Apache Saddle, Sawmill Mountain, Mount Abel and the unspoiled splendor of the Los Padres National Forest beyond.

Adelaide Hill backs directly to the 1.7 million acre Los Padres National Forest. Just walk out the back door, right past the seasonal stream and enter the trail head with its endless peaceful hikes. There is also world class mountain and road biking during the Spring and Summer and Fall months, and snowshoeing, sledding or cross country skiing during the magical Winter. With four distinct seasons, you can even come visit in Fall and watch autumn colors light up the mountainsides. Spring rains also give way to the resurgence of beautiful native wild flowers and roses.

Newly established in 2016, Adelaide Hill is a 2000 square foot, three level upscale home with everything you need for a mountain vacation: Two flat screen TVs (One smart enabled), Directv, Broadband internet, BBQ grill, board games, DVDs and a collection of movies to choose from, a Jawbone Jambox speaker to pair with the phone, fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, coffee makers and design, art, meditation and travel books for your enjoyment. Linens and towels are provided for everyone to use.

With 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, plus a floor bed in the great room, the home sleeps 8-10 people. The designated living spaces are big enough for all family sizes to spend quality time together, yet the 3 individual floors permit everyone to create a sense of privacy. Move to the upstairs loft for some quiet time while enjoying stunning views from the picture windows. Or while you're up there, grab your coffee and walk onto the top deck to listen to birds chirping high among the tall alpine trees. Move to the main deck and breathe in the fresh, evergreen scented mountain air as you experience the spectacular sunset over The Apache Saddle. Then, as the mountain air cools or during the snowy winter months you may want to move to the lower deck and sit in the Cal Spa Jacuzzi bathtub and enjoy a dramatic sunset, the view of snow capped mountains or an endless star studded night sky.

A panoramic view ranges from Mt. Abel to the left, the Apache Saddle directly in front and an endless private woodland beyond. Relax by the fireplace under soaring ceilings and cozy cashmere blankets, or for the musicians out there hop to the up-right piano we have for you to play. For the beginning astronomer, we also have a telescope for you to gaze closer to the stars and planets during an unobstructed night sky. The night sky in Pine Mountain Club is known to be one of the darkest in Southern California and the Central Valley — perfect for stargazing. You’ll see the brightest moons and the galaxy like never before.

The dining table seats 6 people but can be extended if necessary. Plus three additional bar stools over the kitchen bar. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stainless steel dishwasher, refrigerator equipped with cold filtered water for drinking, microwave, a full gas range, fully stocked pantry with everything you need to make your own gourmet meals. Additional amenities include a coffee maker, coffee grinder, dishes, utensils, All-clad pots and pans, Le Creuset pots, Slow cooker and Blender. We love to cook so you will have access to all the herbs and spices in our pantry and a whole array of cookbooks. We recommend guests buy groceries prior to check in. Once you arrive you will not want to leave.

SPIRIT’S SANCTUARY
On the main level of the home is a cute guest bedroom with it’s own hallway and full bathroom with tub. We provide towels, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, toilet paper and hair dryer. Spirit’s sanctuary has an antique brass bed, which can comfortably fit two people, a flat screen TV with DirectV, high speed internet, DVD player and a collection of movies to choose from.

DAPHNE’S DEN
Daphne’s Den is located on the lower level of the home which boasts a California King bed, and a sunken Moroccan style living room with a giant flat screen Smart TV, DirectV, Netflix and DVD player. There is a pellet stove to keep you warm during the snowy months and another bathroom with shower. The sliding doors open directly up to the lower deck and the aforementioned jacuzzi spa and outdoor hammock. When the sun goes down, let the sound of the wind through the pines serenade you to sleep.

LILY PAD
Lily Pad is on the top level of the home. It is a large loft overlooking the great room and shares the same amazing views of the forest. Here you'll find a queen size canopy bed and a sitting area. On one side of the loft is a small office area and bathroom with second tub. There is a flat screen TV and a Jawbone Jambox bluetooth stereo so you can pair your smart phones and listen to your favorite music all throughout the house. Books, playing cards, poker chips, board games, chess boards and puzzles are available for your enjoyment.

Additional features of the home include a full size washer and dryer, centralized heat, air conditioner and two ceiling fans, a massage table, electric heater.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

You'll feel like you're in the most remote of locations while still being conveniently located. We are close to the Village Center, about a 1/2 mile or 10-15 minute walk. There you will find restaurants, cute antique stores, a coffee shop and bakery with home made pastries, a General Store, retail stores, a pub, fitness center, hair salon, The US Post Office and a gas station.

If you’re looking for even deeper snow you can also drive to the world famous Mt. Pinos, about 30 minutes away. With the summit at 8,847 feet, it is not only the highest mountain in Ventura County it is one of the best astronomy viewing points in this hemisphere. As a result it attracts lay and professional astronomers from the world over.

Pine Mountain Club has so many things to do and has so much to offer all year round such as the Lilac Festival, Mountain Shakespeare Festival, Run to the Pines Car Show, Wine in the Pines, Fall Festival and the Holiday craft fairs. All seasons offer town events, shopping, and always an opportunity to commune with nature.

There are a lot of beautiful hiking trail guides that can be accessed all season. During the hot days, you can go for a short walk and take a swim in the pool at the clubhouse. We will provide you with the guest card which will give you access to the Clubhouse, a 9-hole PGA executive golf course golf (except during the winter months), tennis courts, playgrounds with equipment for kids, a baseball diamond, park with sand volleyball court, basket ball court, gift shop, a pond, and much more. There is also live music every Saturday evening.

If you need a massage, we can arrange a session for you with WRIGHT MASSAGE, located a few blocks away.

Be as active as you like or just sit back and enjoy life in the beauty of the mountains. I’ve lived in the area for five years and can help you with recommendations, directions or anything else that may help make your stay be as pleasurable as possible. Additionally, you may contact our property manager who lives by village center. We are always available by text/phone.

About the host

Host profile image
Hi! My name is Corina. I live in Los Feliz in Los Angeles, CA. I love writing, interior design, paddle boarding, yoga, dancing, pilates, barre workout and traveling or hiking with my three adorable border collies, Daphne, Lily and Spirit.

Why they chose this property

I moved to the mountains 5 years ago so I can regroup and get away from a stressful life in the city. Many of my friends in LA told me that nothing can be resolved by running away. Although that might be true, I felt like it wasn't really much about running away, but rather it was more about coming home to myself. Adelaide Hill was born out of that homing instinct. This part of the world is truly filled with energy. All of nature, the sound of the wind through the pines, the three-note call of a bird, the crack of lightning followed by a long, low rumble as the jagged light rips across the sky, the full moon rising, the last red-orange rays before twilight... all of nature is really an invitation for us to remember ourselves. Eventually, I returned to the realities of living in LA. But having Adelaide Hill as a second home has made my life richer, more manageable, more peaceful and more joyful. I am happy to share this sanctuary with you. I hope that Adelaide Hill gives us all an opportunity to play, to remember, to heal, to commune with nature, to rest, and to slow down, so our souls can catch up with us.

What makes this property unique

Adelaide Hill was built with love and awareness. We hope that your stay will be influenced by the energies that surround and created this meaningful place.
