Maine is beautiful in the summer and the fall! Book an inexpensive retreat or get-away at our home.
Our spacious vacation home is located in the Wildewood Estates in Rome, Maine. Wildewood Estates is a community of vacation homes and cabins on Long Pond, one of the Belgrade Lakes in Central Maine.
While our home is not a lakefront property, Wildewood Estates has a private beach (picture above) and a boating area for all of its member homes. It takes 10 minutes to walk from our home to either the beach or boating area but there is also parking for those who prefer to drive (less than 2 minutes). The beach area also has a swing set, picnic benches, and a port-a-potty for convenience. The swimming area is marked off and there are two swim docks for everyone’s enjoyment. Our beach area is very private as it borders conservation land and is perfect for both children and adults. Please note: dogs are not allowed in the beach area.
There is also a community recreation area immediately adjacent to our home that features a small basketball court (paved), a volleyball/badminton set up (sandy), and horse shoe pits. Basketball, volleyball and horseshoes are provided.
Additionally the private association roads are great for walking, running and biking. Wildewood Estates also borders the Kennebec Highlands reservation area which features several excellent hiking paths with beautiful outlooks over the Belgrade Lakes region (maps at - under "nearby" tab).
Our home is a large ranch home on 3 acres of land. It has an open layout, vaulted ceilings, and features 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths (one is a master), eat-in kitchen, dining room, living room, family room , screened porch, and deck. It is the perfect family vacation home! There is driveway parking for 2+ cars. A canoe and a few life jackets are provided but feel free to bring floats, kayaks, etc. Powerboats can be accommodated but require additional discussion with owner.
Home details: The master bedroom has a queen bed, love seat, dresser, small walk-in closet, and a master bath with Jacuzzi tub and shower. The second bedroom has a double bed, dresser, and large closet. The third bedroom has two single beds, crib, dresser, and closet. The living room has a love seat, overstuffed chair, and a queen futon for extra sleeping capacity. The dining room seats 8. The kitchen is fully equipped with gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, and dining and cooking ware. The family room has a couch, love seat, two comfy armchairs, and a wood burning fireplace. The screened porch is off the family room and has a table with seating for 6. The backyard is large and surrounded by trees; there is a fire pit and a propane grill available.
Wifi is provided but we offer no TV service apart from the internet; prefer games, puzzles, and quiet so bring your favorite games with you and your own electronics if desired. ☺

Excellent owners to work with, very clean home in a terrific neighborhood. Very well located (close to many different areas) and a pleasure to be in when "home".

Spent a great week exploring Maine. This house was perfect for two couples. Plenty of room for privacy. Loved the screen in porch for meals and cards in the evening. The house was exactly as described on VRBO.

Great long weekend in the beautiful Belgrade Lakes region!
All the room we needed and everything one needs for a comfortable stay. Have visited the area before and this place definitely is right where we wanted to be as our grandson lives in Mt. Vernon. Beautiful hiking in the Kennebec Highlands. Beautiful spot with the boat area and beach area. Will have to travel up in the warmer temps next time. Quiet and peaceful.
Please note however, car GPS did not recognize the street name in the town of Rome.
The owner was right on call for any issues and the neighbors were friendly and helpful.
The family agreed, we would come to this home away from home again.
Five of us were traveling a long distance for graduation at Colby College. This home gave us plenty of room. The bedroom are nice and so much communal space, no one was on top of another. Although we were quite busy most days, we did get to enjoy some evening walks around the neighborhood and to the lake. Very beautiful area and very quiet. Thanks so much, we enjoyed our stay.

Peaceful and relaxing location
Overall the location of this property is in a secluded and peaceful area right in the heart of Belgrade Lakes. The mobile home is very spacious and includes every amenity that one would require with many rooms to relax in as well as a very comfortable screened in back deck where you can enjoy an evening bonfire. The kitchen is well stocked with every cooking utensil and cooking pans that you would need to cook up food for a large family. An excellent choice to stay here.

Quiet House in Maine
Stayed in early May, 6 adults and 2 med sized dogs. Plenty of room, clean, and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch, has a private back yard, backing up to the woods. We only had 2 vehicles but has room for up to 4 vehicles, depending on size. Would stay again.

family reunion done in complete comfort
What a way to save money and enjoy the entire family. Our family reunion turned out perfect. Thanks to Dan and Cathy we were able to go to the reunion and come back to a home instead of a camper or hotel room. To our surprise the home was total comfort. Relaxing on the screened in porch late in the first night , then as the rain set in we were able to visit with plenty of room in the family area the second evening. As we plan future family outings in the area, we will be sure to check on the availability of this home first.

Wonderful Stay!
We had a wonderful stay at this property. It was a perfect place to stay with children. The accommodations were spacious, clean and inviting. There was a roomy backyard and easy access to a child-friendly beach and playground. Not only was it a great base for sitting back and relaxing (the kids enjoyed the s'mores at the fire pit!) but also a great home-base for day trips.
The owner provided excellent information on the property and stayed in touch in case we had concerns or questions.
We were sad to leave and hope to come back some day!

Spacious, Clean and Peaceful Spot
My husband and I spent a week in this well equipped home set in a peaceful wooded area near the water. We enjoyed quiet leisurely mornings and several long beautiful walks. Highlights for us were close encounters with nature, from deer to loons, and conversations, on the private rear porch, with our friends. The home setting is clean and well maintained. The nearby lake is absolutely beautiful and great for swimming, kayaking and boating. We truly felt rested and refreshed after our stay here!

We love Belgrade Lakes!
Our family of 5 had a fantastic time at this spacious vacation home in the quiet Belgrade Lakes Area. It's only about a 5-7 minute walk from the beautiful lake where there is swimming, lounging, kayaking and canoeing on lazy summer days. We spent most of our time at the home or the beach, but town is just across the lake if you want to get ice cream or take a nice walk. We also went to the Maine coast one day to hang at the ocean and get some fresh seafood. There are numerous beaches less than two hours from this wonderful vacation home.

About the host
Hosted by Dan Szatkowski
My wife and I began vacationing in Belgrade Lakes in 1987. All eight of our children, and now our grandchildren too, love the Belgrade Lakes! We purchased our own vacation home in 2012 and a second in 2016 to accommodate our clan. This second house we rent through VRBO.
Why they chose this property
We love the size and location of our home. The interior is open and bright, the setting is country and lakeside, and the community (Wildewood Estates) is terrific. Our home provides a restful and inexpensive country/lake vacation. Long Pond is a beautiful deep water lake; it is quiet and not overbuilt. Come once and you will always want to return!
What makes this property unique
We love the Belgrade Lakes! The lakes and entire region are beautiful. The village of Belgrade Lakes, just a 5 mile drive around the lake, is a delightful place to visit. There you find ice cream, gift shops and restaurants.
