The house was spacious and clean, with a huge dining room table and great cooking space in the kitchen. We especially enjoyed sledding in the backyard. The drive to Mt. Snow (15 min.) felt like it took no time at all.
Wish list: A hot tub! And a little more seating in the living room for our large group.

We have spent a winter weekend at Spruce Hill Farm on two occasions. It is a wonderful place for family and friends. We find the large kitchen and the dining room to be great areas for socializing and the sharing of food and drink. Spruce Hill's location is close to the center of Willmington and there are plenty of recreational activities within a short drive. One could not ask for a better classic Vermont setting than Spruce Hill Farm.

Tough Mudder Weekend 5/7/11-5/9/11
Twelve of us headed up to Vermont from Massachusetts to take on the Tough Mudder event at Mount Snow, not only was the event great but so was the house. Great location, awesome property, very spacious for all of us to spread out and relax after a grueling day on the mountain. The giant dining room table was perfect for us to enjoy meals as a team. The front porch was also a popular spot to hang out and catch some late afternoon sun. We all agreed we would love to stay there again for next years Tough Mudder.

We had a wonderful weekend at this charming farmhouse! We were 6 adults and 4 children who came up for the weekend to enjoy the great ski conditions. It was really nice coming back to a really cozy comfortable house. While it was too cold and snowy to enjoy the property, it is really beautiful. Early Sunday morning, while drinking our coffee, my husband and I were sitting in the living room and looking at the snow glistening in the early morning sunlight. It was beautiful!
The Joseph's have a wonderful getaway home and some really unusual pieces of furniture. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Beautiful country home near Mt. Snow - great hosts
After a terrible experience earlier (Not as represented online) in the week at another rental In the Stowe area through the other online rental agency, we lucked out and found Barbara’s home was available. This is our annual pilgrimage North to ski with our close family friends After our first experience, we thought we might have to drive home.
After booking with Barbara, we drove 3 hours south to stay and we’re not disappointed. From the beautifully appointed farm house, new kitchen with a large counter and seating, cozy wood stove and responsive and helpful hosts, our two families of four (eight total) were very comfortable. Also to note our well behaved 3 month old Labrador was welcome and there was even a kennel and dog bed available to him. We loved the expansive property for walks in the woods and close proximity to skiing. Helpful tip: the nearby small local foods grocer Is amazing - we bought great baked goods, fresh veggies, wine, local meats and cheeses. Thanks to Barbara for making our stay so lovely and for saving our annual New Years ski trip!

So happy it all worked on and at a minutes notice! So glad you enjoyed the house and land as much as we do. Happy 2021 and stay safe!
Barbara
We were two families of 4, there was plenty of room and it had everything we needed! The drive to mount snow/skiing was really easy and the location to shops and restaurants was great. We all loved this house and will be visiting again for sure!
The Wilmington farm house was exactly what we needed for our family of 8. The house was 15 minutes from Mount Snow and very conveniently located. We spent almost all of our time around the large island in the kitchen. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again!

The perfect getaway
The Joseph's Vermont home is the perfect place to come relax in the winter and hit up the slopes at Mt. Snow. The house is the perfect size for a big family getaway and is extremely welcoming and cozy. It's convenient to the town, restaurants and grocery stores and is very easy to get to. The Joseph's couldn't have been more accommodating and made us feel as if their house was our own. Highly recommend!

Family of four chillin out during the "off" season
The house style, amenities, location, and everything were perfect for our family of four. The weather was typical New England: sun, rain, clouds, sun, rain, clouds, hot, cold. So we didn't actually spend any real time at the lake, but we shopped in charming Wilmington & Bennington, bought pottery, took pictures (it's like a postcard every way you turn), played scrabble, cooked, drank wine, read a lot (thanks for the magazines and books), and just enjoyed a lot of together time. We loved the crazy floor plan and patina of the house, the way it was added onto over so many years (not to mention that astonishing antique sink in the master bath that you have to "flip" to empty). I also loved the pristine white and red lines of your neighbor's house across the street. It's like looking at a painting. Reminds me of the farms in northern Germany that I grew up knowing.
Anyway, it was swell of you to offer it as a Silent Auction item, since you didn't even get any payment for it, and had to just trust that we'd be okay kind of folks. Thanks.

Great time at the Joseph's!
We just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the auction item for NMF. The house and town were lovely and very easy for us and our families to enjoy. Your house was very beautiful. The kids had a lot of fun walking around the hill, exploring town (we had an excursion to the bead store), the elementary school playground and Lake Raponda. The guys even got to go fishing.

Our stay at Spuce Hill Fa...
Our stay at Spuce Hill Farm was just perfect! A short
ride to the ski slopes as well as the grocery store,
this spacious house was perfect for our group of
adults and kids. Big well-equipped kitchen, nice
rooms, large living space... The turkeys crossing the
backyard were quite an attraction for the kids, and
the peacefulness of the place appreciated by adults.
We really felt home, just a larger one than our own
:-)
We'll be back next year!
About the host

Why they chose this property
This house has been a labor of love. We purchased it in 1997 before kids. Renovated down to the studs in most rooms. We have enjoyed spending time here year round - skiing, hiking, holidays, etc. Our girls are now grown up. We still use the house but we also travel so we love sharing our special place with others who are looking to make great memories as well!
What makes this property unique
What makes this property so unique is the charm of an 1850 farmhouse with a modern kitchen and amenities. The living room with the woodstove and french doors is our favorite room of the house.
