About this property
Your Home away from Home
Welcome to the Lux Nest, your home away from home!
Walk into the open concept living room and look through to the chef's kitchen. The kitchen boasts a induction stove-top, convection oven, disposal, and flexible seating.
Head into the master bedroom, furnished with a king-size bed, two nightstands and lamps, and a flat screen television for streaming your favorite shows. The second bedroom has a bunk beds: twin size over full size to accommodate kids and teens.
Take a look into the vintage bathroom with original fixtures and tile.
Go out the side door in the kitchen and check out the breezeway. It is set up for conversations and game playing for times when you don't want to be outside or inside... it's the perfect compromise!
Now head downstairs to the fully furnished basement! The reclaimed barn wood walls surround two areas. On one side, there is a queen size bed with side tables, and a chair and ottoman, perfect for reading a juicy novel. There is also a table and chairs in case a game is in order. The other side of the basement has a futon that folds down into a full size bed and a comfy sofa facing a flat screen television equipped with limited cable and full streaming capability.
Through the basement door is the laundry room with a washing machine, dryer, and laundry sink so you don't have to head home with dirty clothes.
Now head back upstairs and into the back yard. First thing you might notice is the hot tub. There is a four burner grill to cook up your perfect dinner when you don't want to head out to the nearby restaurants. There is plenty of room for the kids to play: climb the gorgeous tree, head down into the ravine and explore the creek, sit in the double swing chair and look for wildlife. Build a fire in the fire pit and roast marshmallows, tell stories, and sing songs. Did I mention the hammocks? Perfect for napping and reading.

About the host
Hosted by Patricia Lux

I am a born-and-bred city girl, having grown up less than a mile south of Wrigley Field in East Lakeview, a bustling Chicago neighborhood. I went to both public and parochial schools in Chicago and my summers were spent at the Chicago Park District's day camps and swimming in Lake Michigan. I love The Lake.
Although I left Chicago for college and travel, I couldn't get Chi-town out of my system and returned there when I was 27. I am now a Chicago Public School teacher and live in Chicago (of course!) five miles west of Wrigley with my husband, two kids, and a dog.

Why they chose this property
Every summer, I would spend hours in Lake Michigan and I've never wanted to be far from it. It was a life long dream to have a "summer home" where I could invite my friends and family and the kids could roam the roads and collect toads and rocks, the adults could unplug, we could spend days at the beach or hanging in the yard, we could grill our dinners, unwind at a local bar or around the fire, and really connect with the people that matter most and make memories that will last a lifetime. I looked for this special place for years.
And then I found it! The Lux Nest is everything I envisioned! The yard has the perfect climbing tree, a creek to explore, the right amount of shade for a restful nap in the hammock, a hot tub to melt the stress away, a finished basement for extra living space, and an easy drive from Chicago.
I fell in love. I've loved every minute I've spent there and I'm so happy to be able to share it.

What makes this property unique
Our home is filled with love and laughter! You will feel how much we care as soon as you walk in. We've carefully firnished and decorated The Lux Nest with an eclectic blend of MCM and Farmhouse Modern styles. Our favorite way to end any day is by lounging in the hot tub while enjoying the Michigan night sky.
