Cosy and compact cottage right by the sea. Well appointed, with everything necessary for a great holiday. Easy access to the coast path with great walks north and south. The Five Pilchards opposite is a great place for dinner and a pint.

Thank you for looking after our little cottage. Any feedback if there are things we can do better gratefully received
The whole cottage was very clean and tidy and jut as in the photos on the listing, it was very comfortable and an ideal place to relax. The parking is also good as it means you don’t have to find somewhere in a small village. The garden is also well kept. Jon’s instructions for our stay were spot on and Porthallow is a quiet and calm small village to stay in. It is great that the pub is now back open again and it seems to have the support of the village. All the food was home cooked. Everyone was also very friendly, so we will definitely go back there, thanks Jon.

Very happy you enjoyed your stay and met a number of the villagers, we really appreciate you looking after our little cottage, until the next time, Thank you
A stunning 2 bed house 2 minutes from the beach. The property included a little garden and a parking space across the road. The decorative condition was immaculate and it had all the conscience items you need. Thoughtfully, the owner even coffee capsules, basic items for cooking ( salt pepper, olive oil etc) as a much welcome bottle of Merlot to celebrate our arrival. And Lenny ( our doggie) was left a handful of really lovely biscuits - or so he tells us.The beds were super comfortable and everything was clean. It's amazing how clean the place was considering it's dog friendly. Lots of work, I'm sure but we appreciated it.Porthallow is a lovely little village at the end of a typical twisty, hilly, narrow Cornwall road. A pub, a bistro cafe and great people. Idyllic! Talk to the fishermen repairing their lobster cages at the end of the beach, have the crab salad at The Fat Apple, definitely try the sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream at rte Five Pilchards.

Beautiful cottage. So close to the ocean we could smell the sea. Spring sunshine and crashing waves. Gin at the local with a jam session of local artists. Perfect. Thank you.

We are very happy you have enjoyed our special little cottage.
As a couple with a dog walking the SWCP, Bass Cottage was perfect. The furniture is comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for showers. Ideal to have a private parking spot and a little enclosed garden too.The cottage is a one minute walk to the pebble beach and the village is on the coastal path.We also found it easy to get taxis to where we wanted to walk to / from (highly recommended the lovely people at Telstar Taxis). But the whole holiday was made even more special by the one minute walk to the Five Pilchards pub. This is an absolute gem - the owners are lovely and have brought this once-closed pub back to life and it’s now rightly the beating heart of the village community with quiz nights, music nights and fantastic food. The locals are so friendly and welcoming here.So we’ll be very sad to leave Bass Cottage tomorrow and highly recommend it to you..

It’s great to see you enjoy it as much as we do. Thank you for your great review and we hope to welcome you back soon. Jon and Karen
The Bass is an excellent base to explore the beautiful surroundings of Cornwall. The cottage is comfy and fully equiped. And the village is lovely!Thank you for the wonderful stay! We enjoyed every minute of it
Ideal holiday cottage with the essentials to a holiday break. Well equipped kitchen. Family size lounge. 2 good sized double bedrooms and large bathroom. Garden area across the street is well maintained and offers shade or sun, garden secure for your dogs.Front garden is small, but it’s where we sat and chilled in the sun, and in the evenings chatted to the locals, loved it !The cottage is set off the main through road so only residential traffic, about 5 cars a day. The beach (cobble stones) is 1 minute walk. The pub is a 1 minute walk too. The food at the pub is good.Just to be aware of, but not in the slightest a criticism, as I know what some people are like. All the doors are lever latches, they can be noisy if your an early bird, they don’t lock securely just latch (bathroom privacy). The bedrooms have 2 coat rail poles to have clothes, but are small, plenty of draw space, living out a suitcase doesn’t bother us. The stairs are wooden, my 2 dogs were fine but slipped a couple of times, we’ve no children but would supervise (baby gate in place). The hot water is hot !!! Take care. The beds are comfy and clean, the towels are there for you to use. The shower is great. The house has blinds throughout, it keeps the house unbelievably cool whilst it’s hot outside. There is Wi-Fi and gives good service around the cottage. TV in the bedroom and lounge. We received a bottle of wine on arrival, went down very well.A party of 4 adults and 2 large dogs, awesome week !!

Cosy and tastefully appointed cottage with parking
Lovely, well appointed cottage in a good location for exploring the surrounding area. Porthkerris Divers is in the next cove so was a perfect location for my daughter, whilst I explored The Lizard and would highly recommended a visit.
We had a great time at Bass Cottage, the location being so close to the sea was perfect. The cottage itself is lovely, exceptionally well maintained and equipped with everything that we needed for our stay. We would highly recommend Bass cottage as a place to stay and unwind.

Bass Cottage is absolutely delightful, very nicely decorated and with plenty of space. It has everything you could need and is so comfortable. The beach is seconds away, great for walking the dogs. We did a lot of sightseeing and walking but it was always lovely to get back to the cottage. Really wonderful place, would highly recommend.
Lovely cottage recently renovated, with a very secluded pretty garden, nestled at the bottom of a small valley only a few yards from an atttractive sea bay and pub. We loved every minute of our stay from the cottag and the walks tothe meals and the very friendly locals.highl recommend.

When you look for the perfect cottage to stay in Cornwall, look no further! The cottage has everything to spend perfect days, it is decorated with lots of love, and Porthallow is a very quiet village allowing to forget everyday stress and to relax. We hope to come back!
Bass Cottage is the best holiday cottage we have stayed at in the UK. Everything is top quality and it lacks nothing at all. Very friendly village with a great pub and cafes. If we holiday in the UK again we will definitely be returning. Just perfect.

We are very glad you enjoyed our hidden paradise, Thank you for review. until next time.
Really enjoyable break in this lovely cottage. Very tastefully decorated with every thing you would need.
A real home from home. I would recommend this property to my friends and family however the location was rather remote and as it is early May there was no beach bistro or pub open.
We enjoyed our stay. The property was ideal for the two of us and two dogs. The location is very peaceful. Only downside was the the pub had lost its chef so there was nowhere to eat out within reasonable walking distance. They were working on that so hopefully not an issue for future bookings.

Great to hear you enjoyed your stay and looking after our little cottage.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review,

Just a lovely property in a great location. It's obviously on the small side being a Fishermans cottage but it's bigger than it looks in the photos as was big enough for the 4 of us. The dining table seats 4 easily.
The decor is lovely, really calming and the upstairs bedroom are lovely and light with the high ceilings.
The beach is great for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking etc.
The Fat Apple Cafe is definitely worth visiting as well.
The thing we liked the most was how quiet is was compared to even the surrounding beaches. Will be staying here again and would definitely recommend it. Thanks Jon!
