About this property
Waterfront Post & Beam Home on 5 Peaceful Acres
Enjoy this beautiful 1990 constructed post and beam home nestled in the woods on a private five acre retreat. This home has cathedral ceilings, hardwood floors throughout, an open floor plan with lots of windows. The first floor bedroom has a queen-size bed and views through the woods to the water. There is a half-bath on the first floor. Walk upstairs to a private, spacious loft with two twin beds and a full bathroom. Watch the change of the water on this tidal cove (11 ft tidal change). Swim at high tide off granite ledges and enjoy low tide walks along the shoreline. Your stay includes all bed linens and bath towels.
It is important to arrive at your vacation rental without any huge surprises, so let me tell you a bit more about the place.
The house is 1200 square feet, located 1/2 mile down a dirt road. You cannot see another house from our house. There is a washer/dryer but not a dishwasher. There is a DVD/VHS player but no regular television stations. There is wifi internet connection at the house. There is a forced hot air Rinnai heater, as well as a woodstove. The water is only 120 feet away from the deck. At high tide there is 11 feet of water, and at low tide there are mudflats. The town of Ellsworth is 6 miles away and has 2 large grocery stores, shopping, movies, and restaurants.
Our rentals run Saturday to Saturday.
We have a limit of 4 people sleeping at the house, and we do not allow pets.
Acadia National Park is a treasure to explore. The Schoodic Peninsula area of Acadia is more remote, less traveled, yet equally as spectacular as the Mount Desert Island area. This rental house is a 30 minute drive from each of these Acadia National Park locations.

The wonderful hosts, the property’s beautiful and tranquil surroundings and excellent access to Acadia and Ellsworth has kept us coming back…a home away from home!Lillian S. Warwick, NY
We had a great week! Perfect location for hanging out, visiting Acadia and Bar Harbor, as well as the Schoodic Peninsula and other coastal communities! Stayed here a couple of times with our daughters when they were young and this time with just the two of us. It was wonderful every time!
Beautiful property with an excellent location. We had a wonderful vacation. The peacefulness and views were exceptional. Great jumping off spot for Acadia, Schoodic area, and Bar Harbor. We hope to return someday.
My family and I loved our stay at this waterfront home in Lamoine. It was so peaceful and secluded; we enjoyed just sitting on the deck and looking through the trees to the water. The location is great for exploring Acadia National Park--close to both MDI and the Schoodic Peninsula--as well as several other fantastic nature preserves. The amenities provided by the hosts were perfect; we had everything we needed for our stay and hope we can return in the future!
Absolutely beautiful. Convenient location. It was secluded and still close enough to town and Acadia. The hosts left us snacks and a map for hiking, everything was so hospitable. I would definitely recommend. It is nicely stocked in case you forget something little which I really appreciated. Loved being on the water!
Our stay at Cathy and Rick’s lovely home lived aligned with previous most favorable reviews. The house and it’s serene yet very convenient location offered all that we needed for a perfect autumn vacation.
This home was the perfect location to come back to after enjoying Acadia. Owner is excellent to communicate with, if needed. We would absolutely stay again!
After hiking and biking in Acadia this was a perfect place to end each day. We spent 2 weeks here and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful peaceful place to stay in Maine.
The cabin and location were a peaceful and restorative oasis to reset and be together as a family. Provisions were not lacking. Watching the water from the couch, bedroom, deck, or shoreline made it impossible not to relax!!! After a day of exploring more bustling areas, it was always a treat to come back to a cozy cabin that felt like a hug. Thank you!!
Cabin is located in such a relaxing location. A woodsy setting with water access. My daughters enjoyed playing in the low tide mud flat (adventurous kids dream) and then swimming at high tide. The dramatic change with the tide was wonderful to watch. The cabin itself is feels so spacious even though its only 1200 sq ft. Location makes it so easy to get to Acadia/ Bar Harbor. Cathy and Rick were extremely responsive with recreational type questions leading up to the visit.
This is a beautiful and secluded cabin in the woods, just a short drive from Acadia National Park. It was clean and well/stocked with everything needed for our week-long stay. From the back porch we saw deer, turkey, and many birds. I highly recommend.

The charm of this place is off the hook. Their water access is awesome. If Acadia wasn't so close, we might have spent most of our time at the house. And you don't have to enter Acadia to see wildlife, as it comes through the backyard all on it's own. This place was truly heaven and we can't wait to go back.
We loved staying at Cathy’s place. The location was perfect for exploring and for enjoying some tranquility. We were amazed with the high quality of the accommodation and the effort taken by Cathy to make our stay comfortable. We have stayed in lots of accommodation around the world and this was one of our favourites. We would 100% stay here again. Thank you Cathy for sharing your gorgeous place with us.
Everything about this property is perfect! Tucked away in the trees away from all the hustle and bustle of the town is a perfect cabin. The cabin was clean when we arrived! Had no problem communicating with the owner. We had a wonderful experience!
Just wonderful! House had everything we needed and the location was great for going to the Schoodic Peninsula and Mt Desert . The hosts kindly left flowers , a map and snacks which was a pleasant surprise. Hope we can get back some day!
We had a wonderful time at Cathy's lovely cottage. We relaxed on the deck watching the jade green water flowing into the inlet and listening to the bird song. The welcome gift was thoughtful and tasteful, as were all the touches in the cottage such as Meyer's hand soap, Burt's Bees shampoo and an excellent range of games and books. We loved every moment of our stay and will return again and again!
