Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Don't put food in the dishwasher. Empty diswasher.
Clean bbq - food attracts insects especially in warm weather. Please don't take towels to the beach - bring your own towels for the beach. Please don't use towels to remove make-up.
Do not feed cats - they belong to neighbours and some repeat guests have alergies.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Please put all rubbish in the free recycle bins along the street as you drive down to the property from the supermarket. Please clean the BBQ
Please replace small breakages and inform us of any big breakages - they will have to be paid for. Please don't feed cats, respect the next guests
Please note the property has a traditional stone oven. This is a lovely feature but it is not in use. A modern electric oven and hob are provided

We are the family caretakers of Casa Borboleta. We have lived on the Island for almost 20 years. We are passionate about Madeira. Our daughter was born here 9 years ago and our passion has doubled. We love walking, swimming and enjoying the fabulous local dishes and drinks. And we love to share our knowledge of Madeira. We enjoy meeting people and are alwasy on hand to help if you need us. Why they chose this property

Casa Borboleta was recently bought by our friends who fell in love with the Island as did we - 18 years ago. The property is a traditional build with lots of character, a lovely garden space with terrace and beautiful sea views. You are among the locals and a short drive from the hub of Calheta and of course you have us to help if you need :)

What makes this property unique

It is difficult to experience the older traditions of Madeira in the larger and bigger towns. The area is rural and very typical of Madeira and the property has unique feathers including two peak roofs in two of the double bedrooms. An old stone oven is still in tack although not in use, and no doubt a modern oven is far more apealing. You can only image how the families of the past cooked their meals. There is an element of history about this property that adds to the allure.
