We enjoyed our stay. This is a small cottage perfect for a couple or family with 1-2 kids. Located very close to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Hosts were friendly and responsive. All around a great experience.
Amazing location and perfect porch for hanging out!
Walking to and from Bar Harbor is easy from this house and Acadia is so close that you can go back and forth from there there every day too.
Quiet neighborhood and a great porch to hang out on makes for a perfect way to start and end your days.
Would absolutely stay here again.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
No frills, but who needs them??
This is a conveniently located cottage within walking distance of Bar Harbor. It does not appear to have been updated for some time, but all the systems work well, and the master bedroom is comfortable.
This is a cozy and clean house very close to the town center (walkable for a couple of us.) It had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable, the living room was a great place for gathering to watch TV in the evenings, and the front porch was a relaxing space outside. We had problems with the television but the hosts helped us sort it out quickly.
This house is within walking distance to Bar Harbor and a short drive to Acadia National Park. Many days we walked to town for dinners and tours. It is also a short drive to the grocery store and less than a 30 minute drive to many of the major sites in the park such as Cadillac Mountain and Sand Beach. Our family enjoyed hiking and exploring the park and surrounding areas of Mount Desert Island. The house was a perfect home base for our vacation. Thanks for letting us stay at your charming house Sharon!

Quaint. Cute. Walking distance to Bar Harbor. Quiet neighborhood. Everything was a pictured. Beds were comfortable & communication with owner was easy & quick. We had to leave a day early because of hurricane Lee's approach. Cottage had everything we needed for our stay. Thanks Sharon!
The house is conveniently located just outside town closer to Acadia Park Cadillac mountain entrance. We could easily walk into town from the house as there is a sidewalk the whole way. We were able to walk to a bike shop in town and rent ebikes to ride on the carriage roads right from the shop. The house is as advertised. It was cramped for the 2 adult children (20 &18) in the twin bed room. We used the child's room off the queen bedroom as a dressing room. WIFI was good for 4 users as we had no issues. The porch was used everyday. Even in heavy rains, you stay dry on the porch as it is quite deep. We had trouble with the shower head but we were able to figure it out after a while. A small button on the shower head was pushed in and needed to be switched back for it to work again. It is a quiet street with few people and cars driving by. The owner was very responsive to our questions. I highly recommend the 1/2 day trip to the other side of the island the owner recommends in the book. We did it as a morning and lunch trip. It was the best lobster roll of our trip. I appreciated reading the owner history and plans for the house for the future.
My husband and I stayed here for a week in early October with another couple. The location of the house is close to downtown Bar Harbor and close to Acadia National Park, but the street it's located on on was quiet in spite of there being a lot of tourists in town. Many necessities were provided by the owner, such as hand soap, paper towels and basic pantry items. But we did have to purchase detergent for the dishwasher, tissues, toilet paper and some cleaning supplies when we got there. The owner left us a jar of blueberry jam, which was nice. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would consider staying here again if we returned to Bar Harbor.
This was such a great place the location was perfect IMO. Close enough to the action but quiet for relaxing. We are cyclist and it was painless to access the loop road, carriage roads and island roads. The bed was comfy and the house just charming. Sharon is an amazing host and made everything perfect for us. We will be checking on the availability here before going anywhere else for our next visit!
We just returned from our vacation near Acadia National Park/ Bar Harbor in Maine. The house is close to both of these destinations. We enjoyed watching the hummingbirds on the relaxing porch; we able to eat our dinners together at the kitchen table; and appreciated the ac during the humid days. The Welcome Book was very helpful (we had a medical emergency & the hospital info was easy to find). We had a wonderful vacation- Thanks, Sharon!
Very nice place to stay at. Well stocked kitchen and bath. Easy access to Acadia and town. Sharon is very nice and responsive. Will be happy to stay here again if we come back to Acadia!
Just returned from a week at Sharon’s home in Bar Harbor. It’s a cute little home in a great location! We walked into town almost every day. Her home is a short drive or bike ride into Acadia. We enjoyed the Weber grill and fully stocked kitchen. There is a grocery store in town and the prices were same as home. My favorite parts about staying here were watching the humming birds from the front porch in the morning and star gazing at night. The night sky was amazing!! Sharon-thank you for sharing your childhood home with us!
We spent two weeks here in October and had a wonderful stay. The house is in a quiet residential neighborhood up the hill from downtown Bar Harbor. A five minute drive in one direction puts you downtown for restaurants and groceries, five minutes in the other direction puts you on the Park Loop Road in Acadia. The covered front porch is also terrific, we used it a lot even on slightly chilly fall days. Sharon is a kind and communicative host. Would happily stay again.
We had a great vacation in Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park. Sharon was a great resource for suggestions and information. Told us to go to Trenton (Lunts Lobster Pound) for a great lobster dinner. Offered suggestions on parking, which is an issue at certain times of the year. All around, very helpful! The house was conveniently located to all that we wanted to do: visited Acadia every day and rode our bikes, kayaked on Long Pond, walked through downtown BH a few times. House was very comfortable. It was nice to have a full kitchen with full sized refrigerator so that we were able to cook most meals. House was equipped with a HUGE lobster pot. We went to Parson’s Seafood which was around the corner from the house and bought live lobsters. I had always wanted to try cooking them myself and know I know how (and also know that I don’t need to do it again – a lot of work and Lunts Lobster Pound was way easier). One night we were too tired to go out and sat on the front porch and played Scrabble (I found a cabinet with a few games – Scrabble had all the pieces!) All in all, a perfect vacation, with the house at a perfect location for all activities. I rate it all a 10!!
This is a cute house in a nice location, close to both Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor. We were able to ride bicycles into the park, entering at Duck Brook Bridge. It is possible to walk to town, or it is a short drive. The house itself is very clean, and the porch is very nice for relaxing. We were there during a very hot week, and the A/C units were a welcome addition. The owner is very responsive and kind and helpful.
We absolutely loved the front porch for relaxing after a busy day of hiking. The neighborhood is quiet and the location avails for a nice walk to town. It’s perfect distance between park and town.
Our family of four enjoyed our stay in this little house. The front porch was wonderful, the grill convenient, and the eat in kitchen suited week for meals and card games in the evenings.
Easy check-in and check-out. Good location for all Bar Harbor activities.

About the host
Hosted by Sharon Oliver
We are a local Maine family, Sharon grew up in this home. We have lived in Hancock County our whole lives. Mo works as a United States Marine Corps contractor and frequently deploys. Our son Maury proudly served in the 82nd Airborne. We have always worked hard and played hard. We enjoy all outdoor activities, especially swimming, boating, jet skiing, and four wheeling in the summer months. During the winters we snowmobile (to the top of Cadillac Mt is fun), ski, ice skate, and sled. While most head south for the winter, we head North to the town of Rangeley, Maine, where winter is alive and busy. Since we are from Bar Harbor, we are happy to help you plan your days.
Why they chose this property
This property was in our family; and has great sentimental value to us. Sharon grew up in the home. Currently, any intown homes that are sold in Bar Harbor are purchased by motel owners and used as staff housing. Once owned by the motels, the homes are not maintained. We didn't want that to happen to our family home. We felt rather than selling it for staff housing, that it would be great if people were able to use it to have the opportunity to stay in Bar Harbor the way locals live...... in quiet, friendly neighborhoods. The home is very clean and cozy, and we have plans for improvements every year.
What makes this property unique
If you want the Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park experience on your travel resume, you will be hard pressed to find a home closer to it all. Kebo Valley Golf Course is almost in the back yard. You are one mile or less from three different Park entrances, and can walk to downtown Bar Harbor. The house sits on the outskirts of town in a quiet neighborhood. You will not be in the madness of town. The house is located less than a mile walk to the center of town and the bus transportation hub. The home features a covered porch with comfortable outdoor furniture, a highlight of this property.
