About this property

Stunning Mountain Lake, Private Forest, Beautiful 4 BR & 4 BA

Montlake is a unique mountain lake formed millions of years ago. It is one of the very few natural lakes in Tennessee. Our Montlake Retreat is a very spacious home with about 20 acres of wooded grounds. There are trails around the lake, and there is a waterfall directly across the lake from the terrace. We are family-oriented, but also welcome special interest groups, such as rock climbers, sports teams, fishermen (up to three boats), weddings, reunions. etc.

Montlake has four bedrooms, four baths, living room, library, great room/dining room, kitchen, and laundry room. There are two fireplaces (library and great room) and a large deck above the terrace. It is a long, rambling house, so there is plenty of privacy for everyone. The master bath has a jetted tub and separate shower, as well as a large walk-in closet and bidet. The other three baths have toilets, sinks, and tub-showers. The laundry room has large capacity (front-loading) washer and dryer. The terrace overlooks the lake and is a pleasant place to bask in the sun or gather around a campfire. Added bonus for the kids: If you hike all the way around the lake, you are entitled to ring the antique bell!

Our family enjoys vacationing together And this home provided a great home base for us. Plenty of room for us to be together yet have our own space when needed. Brought a kayak with us and some of our family went down and enjoyed the lake as well. We also were able to travel to several waterfalls and enjoy the hike.

Had a beautiful trip here at Montlake...what a gorgeous view for coffee every morning! The home is spacious and well appointed (including spices if you cook), with a bathroom adjacent to each room. We enjoyed the artwork, fireplace and library. We also loved the trails around beautiful, blue Montlake and the basketball goal. We were pleased to find wood ready there stacked for the firepit and fireplaces! Please note: without vigilant, constant supervision, this is not a place for small kids as described already in the listing. If you require filterered water, you will have to bring it with you! Hostess was super kind, responsive and thoughtful. Would definitely come back!

We rented this place to celebrate the graduation of our son from UTC. It was very accommodating for a large group. The view out back is gorgeous. The weather that weekend was stormy, but we still had a wonderful time together. We would definitely visit again.

Mountain Retreat

My family and I had a great time on vacation from Minnesota. We were blown away by the secluded lake and waterfall. We spent lots of time outside on the giant patio. My 2,4, and 6 year old spent time collecting snails and doing laps around the lake. This house was huge with all the amenities needed.

Beautiful property on a unique lake. Montlake had a big part in my memories & I’m so glad I got to experience staying on the lake. We came with our children & grandchildren & enjoyed meals & games around the dining table. There was plenty of room for the 6 of us to spread out
