About this property

Lakefront, large yard, close to Chattanooga, 9 beds, private dock, pets ok

Dock your boat, fish, or swim in the private lagoon directly on Lake Chickamauga and the Tennessee River. Drive less than 10 miles to Downtown Chattanooga. The large covered dock holds up to 3 boats, with 2 under cover. The dock also has a large screened porch that is perfect for an additional sleeping area (primitive) or a great place to hang out in the shade beside the water. Fish under cover on hot days or in the rain. Fishing is also great on the Boardwalk area beside the dock. Lake Chickamauga is one of the top 10 bass fishing lakes in the USA. Across the small lagoon is a nature preserve called Chester Frost Park, but it is very private. Chester Frost Park has a beautiful sandy beach, a large boat ramp, and great playground facilities free to the public. Chester Frost Park is also the check in station for the local bass tournaments. Chester Frost is easily accessed by road or water. Lake Chickamauga has been included in the top 10 bass lakes in the US. The fishing off the dock is outstanding. If the water is down (between October 15 and May 15, generally, there are multiple fishing docks at Chester Frost Park). Lake Chickamauga is formed from the Chickamauga Dam and provides hydro electric power and aids in flood control. Therefore the water is lowered by TVA during the off season months, generally beginning in October and ending in May. During these months, the dock's water level is generally too low for your boat. However Chester Frost Park (2 miles away) provides free access to a boat ramp, multiple docks, and several fishing docks. Also enjoy the fire pit located beside the pavilion.

The over 2000 Square foot, one level , brick ranch has 4 Large Bedrooms (1 king beds ,4 queen, 2 sets of bunk beds) and sleep 12 comfortably in beds plus a sofa. 2 Full baths. A 32x20 covered outdoor pavilion includes a refrigerator, sink , charcoal grill, dining table, seating area and fire pit will become your favorite spot to enjoy the day or night. The pavilion has ceiling fans and is well lit and furnished. Surrounding the pavilion is a large sunny concrete patio. The pavilion is 20 feet from the main house.

The 5 acre flat, mowed property borders a nature preserve on 2 sides. Enjoy watching the birds, deer , chipmunks and you kids and pets from the back patio. The home sits off the road and is landscaped beautifully with several Japanese maple trees. There is plenty of parking beside the house and in a separate gravel parking lot in the back yard. 12 cars are easy to park here. Unbelievably the house has extremely, high speed wireless internet. The Convenient kitchen has a large refrigerator freezer with ice and water through the door. The galley kitchen includes an electric stove and oven, microwave, dishwasher , toaster, and coffee maker.

Location may be the best part of this property. Even though you enjoy a 5 acre flat, mowed living area on the Tennessee River and Lake Chickamauga, you can walk on sidewalks to great restaurants. The Getaway is located in Hixson, TN a popular suburb of Chattanooga. Downtown Chattanooga is a straight shot, 10 miles away. Within 10 minutes of the property is every amenity you could possibly want including: 30 or more restaurants, a large mall with state of art cinema, golf courses, bowling alley, a beach, marinas, multiple churches , parks, tennis, dry cleaner, laundromat, goldsmith, shoe repair, alterations. We have it all. This home is perfect for anyone working in Chattanooga, but wanting to enjoy the water in their back yard on weekends or at the end of a long summer day. Please consider bringing your bicycles.

This is a great location for Riverbend or other local festivals, Bass Tournaments, the Tennessee Aquarium and downtown, Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls, Rock City, Montlake rock climbing, outdoor events on the river, or any of the other great attractions and events going on in Chattanooga or Lake Chickamauga.

Nice property, very roomy. It could use a better cleaner, trash on floor, ash try on patio full, stuff splashed all over fridge above trash can, nasty kitchen trash can, floors needed mopped.

The location of the house was very convenient for our planned activities and we had plenty of space to spread out in the house. It is right on a main road so there is some road noise from traffic. A white noise machine took care of that. The lake was a bit further from the house than we had expected but a short walk through the massive yard. The cove where the dock is, is very shallow and full of weeds so fishing was not really an option. They have a nice screened-in patio behind the house with a charcoal grill to cook on. The beds were comfortable. Our main issue was the house needs a deep cleaning. It's a nice place with plenty of room for a large group but could use more than a sweep and wipe down. Hosts responded quickly when contacted.

We appreciate the comments. The guest stay incurred during a draught period. The water in the lake was low causing the fishing limitation. We spray all Summer for lake vegitation. There is a fishing dock at Chester Frost Park that is free for times of low water. This guest checked in on the same day a guest checked out. The house was cleaned but the stove was not cleaned deeply and there were some cobwebs in a closet.

This was our second stay in this property in a few months. We like that it’s super convenient to the boat ramp at Chester Frost, however, the house could use a really good deep cleaning. I was hoping that last time it was just a one-off miss, but I feel like the housekeeping is lacking. It’s not terrible by any means, or else we wouldn’t have stayed twice, but it just really needs some good elbow grease. Plenty of space for our guest count! Great parking!

Really fun place to stay with kids. Dock is private and peaceful and we caught several fish at various points in our stay. Kids enjoyed the bunkbeds and it was nice to have a separate bathroom for the kids with a bathtub. The host was extremely courteous and very accommodating to us. Thanks!

The home was comfortable. I wish the photos on Vrbo would have been more current, my expectations would have been different. The photo provided of the water wasn't correct as the lake must have been lowered for this time of the year. We were ready to be by the water.

The home was perfect for our needs & for the size of our travel party. We were in town for a fishing tournament and had plenty of parking for the 2 boats we had with us. We were within a 5 minute drive from the tournament ramp which was a huge plus. The only negative to mention is the cleanliness. The home could really use a thorough deep cleaning. All in all, we would stay here again for a tournament in the area.

This is a rental, but still the home needs some deep cleaning. Some of the linens need to be replaced. More blankets are needed. Fortunately, we had traveled with a few extra. It was modestly priced. The area around the lake is private and pretty. The lake water level is extremely low right now so you can’t actually access the lake from the dock.

We appreciate feedback. Replacing the linens occurs periodically and we will take this feedback as a point to replace any worn linens. Each bedroom has an extra blanket in each closet. January and February are our slowest months and we perform our deep cleaning during that period. The prior guest spent Christmas at the home and left a large mess to clean up. We only had 5 hours to turn the house around. We have an outstanding housekeeper, but sometimes situations factor in to the amount of cleaning possible when we have a guest checking out and another checking in on the same day (Christmas and New Year Season. We have been busy this year, and the retreat being lakefront does not have the excitement of Spring through Fall. However for the number of beds and location, and the discounted price, it is an outstanding value even when the lake level is down. I think it would be fair to say that the guest paid about the same for a 4 bedroom home with 9 beds that they would have paid for one nice hotel room. We have Vacation Rental this house for 12 years.

The host was very kind and provided awesome info and wonderful communication. It's an older property, it did have what we needed. A deep clean, replacing light bulbs etc. and some upgrades would help it be better, but it was a good place for us. The dock was about .25 miles walk from the house which was not clear in the photos and description. The dock was great to have and the parking was great for what we needed. There were two dryers for laundry. Overall, a good stay. It does have two bathrooms and the water pressure is good.

I am a local small business owner. I enjoy the lake and spending time with my family including my grandsons. I live very close to the Retreat spending any open weekends there with my family.

Why they chose this property

I was fortunate enough to acquire this property from the estate of the original developer of this part of the lake. This was his personal residence and explains how such a large piece of land on the lake , close to the city, became available. We love to enjoy every aspect of the lake.
