This cabin and the whole property is an awesome place for a family stay. My grandchildren were all fascinated and had a blast exploring. The cabin itself is extremely cozy with plenty of room and comfort. Will definitely be back.
We (family of 6) stayed in this property over Christmas and we had a great time. The girls said it was the best Christmas they ever had. Ellen was amazing! She answered my dumb questions all day, every day! Would stay again!
Relaxing , peaceful environment. The houses was roomy, and clean. Ellen was friendly, and welcoming. I hope one day to have the opportunity to visit again!
The property was great! Owner was very nice! The store in cabin should be replaced. The dishwasher is just ok.

Log cabin in the country
The log cabin was comfortable but it needed a thorough cleaning and didn’t have any TVs. The property was beautiful and peaceful and flowers were blooming everywhere. We had a good stay and plenty of room, just wish it was cleaned better before we arrived. We found the BEST little diner a few miles away and ate there several times.
Nice getaway halfway between where my son and I live
Enjoyed a nice weekend with my adult son and my dog Lily at this log cabin that was located halfway between where both of us live. It was a bit rainy, but we were able to enjoy some nice walks outside. We enjoyed cooking together, playing games, and watching movies. We especially enjoyed being able to hang out on the porch, where there was a nice breeze.
This property really helped us heal our souls a bit. The property was incredibly dog friendly and our little Frenchies loved loved the property. Since it is out in the country there are things like mosquitoes and spiders. If you plan to cook you may want to bring some disposable pans if you want to use the oven and a pitcher if you want to make something like lemonade.
It was so peaceful . In the morning all you hear are birds chirping and at night all you hear are the crickets. I love this place. I’ve been there 2 times now and would highly recommend it. Very clean and Ellen the host is amazing. Great getaway if you need a quiet place to go.

We had a restful stay. Our grandsons thought it was interesting to stay in a log cabin for the 1st time. It was just right for short trail walks. Children were 6,4 and 2 years old. They were excited to see crawfish when they walked along the creek.Beautiful flowers were in bloom. It was a delight to see them. Their Papa enjoyed his morning visits from Murphy the owner's dog. This was so much better than staying at a hotel/motel. Would absolutely stay here again.

Very nice!
Very nice cabin, not as remote as I thought it would be. Four cabins all together. Nice trails in back seen some great birds. Even though cabins were close you could get out on the trails and Uwharrie is 20 minutes away. I would return to this cabin again. I really like to be along in the woods without seeing anyone and thats the only reason I gave them four stars. But everyone was very respectful and quiet.
Perfectly located property. We attended a wedding at Carolina Country Weddings which was a 15 minute drive away. The cabin had everything we needed. Beautiful setting and wish we had more time to explore. Love that it accommodates dogs. Ellen was very responsive and friendly. Loved spending time with her dog, Murphy, on the porch as well. Would absolutely stay again.
What a perfect location to slow down and find peace. We spent hours on the porch watching the hummingbirds, hawk and spectacular rain storm.
The host was so responsive and helpful. She graciously shared her blueberry bushes and adorable dog.
Albemarle was a quick drive for Mass and dinner.
We will be back next year to retreat,, explore the trails and fill our cups! We are grateful!!

Ellen was the perfect hostess as was Stanley the little terrier who greeted us each morning. We absolutely loved the quietness of the property and all the lovely hummingbirds frequently the feeder on the porch. The property had everything we needed and we wouldn’t hesitate to book the property again. Thank you Ellen for making us feel so welcome!

Very nice owner.
Didn't care for the suprise yurts sharing the property and people walking around the cabin. Wanted a place to ourselves.
Otherwise it was a nice cabin. Easy to get to.
Overall the cabin was a nice getaway, not fancy but met our needs. Plenty of space both within the house and outside to spread out, having a fire pit nearby was nice. Lack of wifi was a bit of a shock to the younger generation but they could still access their devices so they didn't have to go through total withdrawal. The beds a bit firmer than we're used to but that's just our preference.

About the host
Hosted by Ellen Whiteside
I have been an innkeeper for the past 16 years and have had the honor of welcoming so many amazing guests here. My gift is being able to connect with people and to make them feel at home and taken care of. I was born in Columbia, South Carolina, attended Clemson University, traveled in Europe for a year, and then settled in Portland, Oregon where I lived for 22 years. I practiced as a massage therapist for 20 years. Sunshine brought me back to the south and I am so blessed to be living at this sacred place. I love meeting new people and sharing my lovely space with them.
Why they chose this property
A Review from a recent guest: “Sacred grove retreat is truly a magical place that left our souls feeling recharged and our wounds healed. Although I personally didn't meet Ellen, her healing touch is evident in the property in many forms. We took a walk through the labyrinth just after midnight on New Years 2020 that took our breath away and left us awestruck from the beauty of life, mother earth beneath our feet, and the heavens above us. At the entrance, the magic begins as we took a reflective walk to the center making sure to not look up yet. We asked the healing stone at the center to do it's work, then looked up at the most spectacular starscape imaginable. I wasn't a believer in witchcraft until that very moment, but the mysteriously eerie, dark, but beautiful energy within the labyrinth was pulsing through us as though we were one with mother earth, the cosmos and heavens, and ourselves. We went back inside and wrote love lists, people we love, and the things we loved about ourselves, as well as those that bring us up when we're down. Our souls reinvigorated, we fell into the most blissful sleep, making our journey for healing complete. Thank you Sacred Grove and Ellen for providing the space and your magical powers for us.”
