About the host
Hosted by Elizabeth Brown
We come from a hospitality background and have spent many years working professionally with food, events, and guest experience through Red Radish. Hospitality is what we do every day, so we understand how much the small details matter when people are away from home. Comfort, clarity, cleanliness, and good communication aren’t optional extras, they’re the basics.
We’re a close-knit family, and this house was our full-time home for over ten years while raising our five children. One of our children still lives and works locally in the region, including time working on a superyacht, so the area remains very much part of our everyday lives rather than somewhere we’ve simply rented out from a distance.
Because of this, we host in the way we’d want to be hosted ourselves. We aim to make the house easy to settle into, properly equipped, and well cared for, without unnecessary rules or formality. We’re happy to share local knowledge when helpful, but we also respect guests’ privacy and independence.
Our goal is simple: to offer a relaxed, well-run home where families and groups can enjoy their time together, feel genuinely looked after, and experience the area in a way that feels natural rather than overly curated.

Why they chose this property
We chose this part of the Riviera because it delivers the lifestyle people imagine when they think of the South of France, without the chaos that often comes with being right on the coast. You are close enough to the beaches to enjoy them easily, but far enough away to avoid the summer congestion, parking battles, and crowds that can drain the joy out of peak season.
One of the biggest advantages is accessibility. Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is an easy drive away, making arrivals and departures straightforward even with children or luggage. You can land, collect the car, and be unpacked at the house quickly, rather than facing a long, stressful journey at either end of the holiday.
Pré du Lac itself is a genuine, lived-in village rather than a tourist resort. It has an impressive range of everyday shops, bakeries, cafés, and services, meaning you don’t need to drive constantly for basics. There is also a small local market on Mondays, which adds to the sense of village life and routine. A particular favourite is the very French Castle Pub, a relaxed and welcoming spot that’s popular with locals, alongside a small park that’s ideal for children and evening strolls.
Just a short drive away are Valbonne, with its beautiful village square, markets, and restaurants, and Grasse, known for its historic old town and cultural life. Both are close enough for spontaneous visits.
The surrounding countryside and nearby mountains provide walking, cooler air, and river swimming, creating a rare balance of coast, village, and mountain living. That balance is exactly why we chose to live here, and why it remains such a special base for visitors.

What makes this property unique
This is not a purpose-built holiday rental, and it doesn’t pretend to be one. It is a much-loved family home that we lived in full-time for over ten years, raising all five of our children here. Every room, terrace, and outdoor space has been shaped by real family life, not by a checklist for short-term lets.
Because of this, the house has a warmth and practicality that’s hard to fake. The layout works for groups, not just on paper but in reality. Bedrooms are properly sized, living spaces are generous and comfortable, and the kitchen is genuinely equipped for cooking proper meals together, not just reheating something beige. Storage, seating, shade, and flow between indoor and outdoor areas have all evolved through years of daily use.
Outside, the gardens and terraces are designed for long summer days rather than quick photo moments. There are places to eat together, quiet corners to read, shaded areas when the heat peaks, and open spaces where children can play without being constantly told to be careful. The pool has been part of family life for years and is set up to be enjoyed, not merely admired.
The location reflects how we chose to live. Pré du Lac offered us peace, space, and community, while still being close enough to the coast, beaches, rivers, and villages to enjoy everything the region offers. We walked locally, swam in rivers on hot days, hosted friends and family, and lived a rhythm of life that many visitors are searching for when they come to the South of France.
As owners, we care about the house because it has history with us. We maintain it properly, improve it thoughtfully, and want guests to feel comfortable and at home rather than like temporary occupants. Our aim is simple: to offer a house that feels lived in, loved, and relaxed, where families and groups can settle in, slow down, and enjoy their time together in a way that feels natural and unforced.
