We enjoyed our stay. Everything was clean. We had some challenges understanding the AC, but that may have been us. Walking distance to restaurants and grocery

We are happy you enjoyed your stay and that the house was spotless.
There shouldn’t be any issue operating the A/C. There is a laminated sheet attached to the remote with step-by-step instructions.
Regarding the A/C unfortunately that was on you. You did not follow the instructions provided. The remote must be pointed directly at the split system while pressing , just like a TV remote—otherwise, the system will not respond. I am sorry you missed that in the instructions.
This house is so darling and just as pictured with plenty of room, fun decor, and loads of towels (which was a nice treat!). Neighborhood is great, and very close to the zoo, and just a short drive to the beach, Gaslamp Quarter, and other common destinations. Thank you for being such great hosts!
This super comfy house is in the Hillcrest area with charming bungalows in historic neighbourhoods. Just two blocks off University Ave which unlimited food and entertainment options. Can get anywhere easily too or walk everywhere.
This was a nice place for me and two friends to stay for a few days in San Diego. Neighborhood was quiet and safe, and the outdoor patio area was great. The host was very responsive. The ceilings were quite thin and creaky so we did get woken up by the neighbors upstairs a couple times—not an issue just a slight inconvenience. We enjoyed our time here!
This house is conveniently located to everything. You can walk to major tourist attractions and nice local restaurants. Comfortable beds. Very clean. The hosts are very helpful. Perfect place for us to stay on our 1 wk vacation.
Property was a little musty smelling when we first got there, but it might’ve been closed up for a while. Once we aired it out it was good. People upstairs were a little noisy but overall a great stay.
We loved being able to walk to restaurants, shops, and coffee shops. We loved the location.
Convenient location. Had a parking space which is absolutely necessary in this location. The furniture was not comfortable. :( Lighting in the bedroom was poor. No propane for the grill. (If it’s not provided it shouldn’t be included). There are upstairs neighbors and you could hear them. We did not expect that. Overall it was acceptable.

Most guests who stay with us are out and about enjoying all the incredible sights, food, and culture that San Diego has to offer—not sitting inside nitpicking or looking for things to complain about. That’s the spirit in which this home is enjoyed and appreciated by the many respectful guests we host.
Our home is located in the heart of Hillcrest, one of San Diego’s most vibrant and eclectic neighborhoods. Having a driveway and free parking here is a major perk.
The leather couch is brand new:)
The bedroom lighting is intentionally moody and stylish to match the mid-century vibe. Most guests understand the bedroom is used for sleep at night—in the dark. If you had bothered to read the listing, you would have seen that propane is not supplied. Had you actually read, you also would have known there was a backup tank next to the BBQ. You didn’t.
As for your noise complaint, my parents—two elderly people in their 90s—were upstairs. To suggest they caused the level of disruption you described is laughable. Again, this fact was disclosed in the listing, had you taken the time to read.
On top of that, you left my home a complete mess, which is both rude and disrespectful.
Great place and location however the kitchen needs better utensils, cookware (handle about to fall off pan) as well as more dishes and silverware. There was an abundance of coffee cups and drink glasses ! There needs to be window coverings in the livingroom other than the sheer blinds,it gets to hot in there . The heating/cooling unit is not ideal . The front room cools but it does not get to the bedrooms . Maybe a fan should be provided or ceiling fans installed.Lastly the rule of keeping the gate locked at all times is a safety issue . If something should happen you may not be able to escape due to the locked gate.

Thanks for the laugh!! hahah You clearly misunderstood the basics: the gate is to be locked when you are out—not because of any safety concern, but because that’s what responsible guests do. Two adults needing a place setting higher than 8? Seriously?
You told us you loved the house when we checked in with you. If you actually had issues, basic communication would have allowed us to address them. Instead, you chose not to speak up and are now making excuses after the fact. We could of provided a fan if you had communicated but you did not.
The property is fully fenced, covered with bougainvillea, and offers complete privacy—something any reasonable person would appreciate. That you somehow missed this only confirms you're not exactly the sharpest.
As for your departure condition, here's the HK report:
Sink drain full of food and plastic
Food crumbs all over the counters and floors (from kitchen to living room)
Toaster left out and plugged in
Soiled food in the fridge
Stove filthy
Bedding thrown on the ground and swapped between rooms
Ran the dishwasher, but the dishes were still dirty
Bathrooms left disgusting, full of hair
No checkout instructions were followed.
You disrespected the space, disregarded the rules, and then had the nerve to complain after the fact. Spare us the revisionist nonsense.
DO NOT BOOK THIS HOUSE
This is the creepiest, most unsatisfying listing on VRBO. The apartment is hot, small, and in need of renovation. If you were looking for something nice, then continue to keep on looking. But the worst part is the patio cameras. Cameras are great for security, but these cameras are used to creep on guests. We felt so uncomfortable in the space as the host would text us in real time about things he saw on camera. Our group felt demoralizingly uncomfortable. The eye is always watching.
For the perfect example of this hosts behavior just look at his responses to some of his reviews. He has been rude, called someone fat, and is all around just an unpleasant person to work with.
If you book this house, may God have mercy on your soul.
Pros: This place is very clean and for the most part comfortable. The owners are very good at communicating and responding to questions quickly.
Cons: The property is located on a very busy corner due to being very close to the 163 hwy so the traffic is loud. There is very little privacy in the front of the house due to all the windows , which are beautiful but the shades don’t do much especially at night. The people upstairs are loud and quite active late at night, on one particular evening it sounded like they were dragging furniture across the floor right above the room we were sleeping in at midnight . In regards to amenities, in all of the other home shares we’ve stayed there has been at least coffee, cream and sugar. I appreciate there being coffee but would’ve been nice to have cream and sugar to go along with it. Overall if you don’t mind the noise I would recommend this very cute and stylish place.

Here we go... The yard is completely fenced in and covered in lush bougainvillea, and colorful lush shrubs which you cannot see thru. The house looks on to the courtyard- while you can see out - NO ONE can see in. This is called --Complete privacy. The 163 is 5 blocks away and you cannot hear the freeway(that's a first in 10 years :) As noted in the listing we are located on a corner , in a vibrant neighborhood where families are out walking with their children , dogs or enjoying a stroll with their morning coffee. People are out loving life in beautiful San Diego!

weekend away
I am not one to give a bad review but this stay was not at all what I am use to. The communication with the owners was terrible. Our fist night there when my sister went to bed she found sand all in her bed so we suspected they were not cleaned. The only way to get in touch with the owner was a message through the app and they only answered you during business hours. I sent them a message to call us asap, after waiting 3 hours for a response we sent another message and they responded to that. I did not know this was a 2 story house with people staying upstairs. They were so noisy they were up at 5:00 am making a racket and then did not go to bed until late. We were unable to get a good nights sleep. When I sent the owners a message about this problem all they said was have a nice day. If they handled our concerns better this would be a much different review.

Your review is completely false. Shame ! You went to the beach and asked if we had a change of sheets. We replied no. HK does not change sheets during a guest stay unless you want to pay an additional HK fee. We sent HK to change the sheets and you disputed the additional charge. So please explain to use how the entire floor was covered in sand and the beach towels were also covered. When you arrived, you had no sand in the house, no sand in the bed , no sand in the towels nor on the hardwood floors. . You were upset that we do not provide additional bedding for 3 nights stay. It is disclosed that there are guest upstairs but it was empty during your 2/3 nights stay. The guest arrived at 9PM on your last night. For someone who did not read that the driveway is for our guest says all a lot. It was an unpleasant hosting experience with unpleasant guest. You left a complete mess in our home and are not welcome back.
