About this property
Special pricing in Sept! 20% off!! Close to RMNP, fishing, trails, shops!
Cozy family-friendly mountain home near others in a quiet HOA-controlled community, minutes to lakes, town, and Rocky Mt. National Park. Four bedroom getaway with cozy gas fireplace and large patio windows.
No matter the season, the Grand Lake area offers something for everyone! You'll enjoy your time in the summer, whether you're dirt biking, hiking, fishing, road biking, golfing, or boating (boat launch just a minute away on the other side of the highway). If you appreciate live theatre, we've got that too!
Winter activities also abound! Choose from cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, skating, tubing, and downhill skiing! Check out the Grand Lake Nordic Center! We've got sledding saucers available for hours of outdoor fun on our neighborhood hill! For you snowmobile enthusiasts, we are located just 200 yards off County Rd. #4, which is the main road that accesses the snowmobile trails. With enough snowfall, one can drive their snowmobiles from the house to the trails! Reasonable drives to Winter Park, Snow Mountain Ranch, Grand Lake Nordic Center, and Granby Ranch skiing.
After a day of activity, come back to the lodge to relax on the wrap-around deck. Sip some refreshing lemonade in the summer or keep cozy indoors with a mug of hot cocoa by the fireplace during the winter! Our outside fire pit is perfect for roasting hot dogs and melting s'mores!
About the house:
We feature three bedrooms (two queen and one twin over full bunk bed) and one bathroom on the main floor. Both queen beds have pillow-top mattresses. A spacious master bedroom awaits you upstairs. Sleep comfortably in the king-sized bed and enjoy the double vanity and separate bath and shower of the master suite.
Because the house can be warm on some summer afternoons, we have two queen bedrooms on the main level with ceiling fans, as well as three portable floor fans; two standing fans and a box fan. The mountains cool down beautifully every evening and we often sleep with our windows open at night. Evening temperatures can be in the 40’s and 50’s.
A loft area offers room for family games or relaxation. Send the kids downstairs for fun and games (and peace and quiet for you!). Here they will find a play area, a large comfy couch, a new Roku TV (no cable) and our third bathroom (and shower).
The vaulted ceilings of the living and dining rooms and the two large glass patio doors contribute to the beautiful views of the distant Lake Granby and Rocky Mountains. A washer and dryer (along with laundry detergent) are conveniently located on the main floor.
Moose Meadows Lodge is the ideal place to come and disconnect from the world, but if you need to stay connected to civilization, high speed wireless internet is available for your convenience.
The kitchen is fully stocked with all of the utensils and cooking supplies you'll need, whether you'll be cooking for a crowd or simply enjoying a light breakfast with coffee. You'll find a microwave, range, fridge, dishwasher, countertop griddle, crockpot, as well as dishes, drinking glasses, silverware, pots, pans, and wine glasses.
Please feel free to inquire if there is any feature or amenity you don't see on this list, but may be required for your stay. We'll always do our best to accommodate you!
We know this home will prove to be one of your very favorite family vacation spots. The quaint town of Grand Lake, with its friendly coffee shops and local boutiques will keep you wanting to come back year after year, and the locals will welcome you with open arms. So whether you're looking for a cozy nook to cuddle into or a grand wilderness adventure, we invite you to find it here at Moose Meadows Lodge!
About the neighborhood and surrounding area.
The town of Grand Lake is the western gateway to the Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP). RMNP is among the ten oldest national parks in the United States. It boasts more than 100 peaks above 11,000 feet!
Trail Ridge Road (Highway 34) runs through the Park and is famous for being the highest continuously paved highway in the United States (12,183 feet). It is a scenic and invigorating 40-mile drive! The goal of the Park is to open this road from Memorial Day (dependent on snowfall) through fall when the snows appear (typically October). That means there is no access to Estes Park from Grand Lake during the winter months. However, they do keep the first ten miles plowed for hiking, snowshoeing, driving, and sightseeing. Please keep this in mind when scheduling April and May vacations.
Grand Lake is Colorado's largest natural body of water. Home of the world's highest registered yacht club and the nation's highest altitude golf course with grass greens, it is also adjacent to Arapaho National Recreation area. Grand Lake has been dubbed the Snowmobile Capital of Colorado due to its access from town to Colorado's largest network of groomed snowmobile trails. A year-round vacationer's paradise for over 100 years, Grand Lake awaits you!
PLEASE NOTE:
Please be prepared before beginning your drive to Moose Meadows Lodge! AWD/4WD/chains are highly recommended during winter. Keep in mind that chain laws for non-commercial vehicles can be put into effect at any time. We do not advise driving Berthoud Pass in a front-wheel drive vehicle unless you are comfortable putting chains on yourself. Weather and driving conditions may change rapidly. Nearby highways, neighborhood roads, and our driveway are all plowed throughout the winter, although an overnight heavy snowstorm could delay the plowing. Our circular driveway is flat and can accommodate small open utility trailers. Our driveway ENTRANCE is steep and can be snow-packed and icy in the winter. BE SURE to bring your 4WD/AWD/chains! If your car needs a boost, you are welcome to use the sand and ice-melt in the garage.
Our two-car garage is available to guests throughout the year. Our garage has a low clearance of six feet. Some larger vehicles may not fit or you may need to remove your antennae first. Be careful as you approach the open garage door. Thank you!
There are two entrances to the lodge. Both require climbing a set of approximately 14 stairs (through the garage or up a flight of outside stairs.) There is not a main level entrance.
Additional cleaning charges will be applied for checking out on Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Day. Christmas Eve check-out is an additional $50, for a total of $305. Christmas Day check-out is an additional $100, for a total of $355

About the host
Hosted by Brian and Lola Printz

Brian and Lola are the proud new owners of this wonderful lodge! Both grew up in the Midwest, but have called Colorado their home for many years. Recently retired from the public school system, they are busy enjoying this new chapter in their lives: travel, hiking, genealogy, golf, reading, biking, hunting, and the best . . . . grandparenting! They are the grandparents of a rambunctious seven-year-old grandson and a sweetheart of a six-year-old granddaughter.
Having fallen in love with the nostalgic Grand Lake area when she first moved to Colorado 40+ years ago, Lola has long dreamed of owning a cabin in the area to share with family and guests. She had no trouble convincing Brian to share in this dream. They love the fresh, clean air of the Rocky Mountains, the old wooden boardwalks of Grand Lake, the many wildlife sightings, and the lake itself, which reminds them of "home". Ideally located, this lodge is nestled aside three large lakes, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Arapaho National Recreation area. It is surrounded by beauty in all directions! Additionally, the spacious master suite, roomy kitchen, gas fireplace, and two car garage makes this a cozy getaway for even large families. Brian and Lola feel so blessed to now be able to call this their second home!
