Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Cotswold village of Winchcombe, Castle Cottage this charming Grade II listed, semi-detached two-bedroom retreat. Located just a stone’s throw from Sudeley Castle, it’s the perfect escape for a relaxing weekend or a centrally located base to explore all that the Cotswolds has to offer.
The Space -
Tucked behind Winchcombe’s bustling high street, Castle Cottage is a serene haven surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Cotswolds. With its idyllic location, it’s perfect for families or friends seeking a peaceful retreat or an adventurous getaway in the heart of this charming village.
Upon entering the cottage, you’ll be greeted by a delightful kitchen with exposed beams and the iconic golden Cotswold stone walls. It’s a warm and inviting space, fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy a relaxing stay, including a L'OR barista machine with coffee pods for your morning brew.
Castle Cottage, believed to be around 200 years old, boasts separate living, kitchen and dining areas on the ground floor. The entrance opens to a small area for coats and shoes before leading you into the kitchen and dining space. The kitchen is thoughtfully designed with all the essentials for preparing delicious meals. Beyond the dining area is the cosy living room, where original floorboards and golden stone walls create an inviting atmosphere.
Here, you’ll find a comfy sofa with fluffy blankets, a log burner fireplace with plenty of logs to keep you toasty, and a wall-mounted TV with access to Netflix for your entertainment.
A door leads from the kitchen to the downstairs bathroom, where soft-panelled walls surround a freestanding bathtub—perfect for a long, relaxing soak after a day of exploring. We also provide fluffy bath towels to make your stay even more comfortable.
Upstairs-
Upstairs, you’ll find a traditional 18th-century crooked hallway that leads to two bedrooms, each full of character. The master bedroom is a spacious and luxurious retreat, featuring high ceilings, a stunning four-poster king-size bed, and an en-suite shower room for added convenience. Down the hall, the second bedroom is equally charming, with exposed beams, giving it a cosy yet stylish feel. This room is furnished with two antique-style single beds, which can be pushed together into a double upon request, for added flexibility.
Outdoor Space -
Castle Cottage offers a lovely south east facing terrace to the side of the cottage, complete with a seating area that comfortably accommodates four.
The cottage is also equipped with a gate to the road, ensuring your four-legged friends stay safe while you enjoy the surrounding greenery. Plus, there’s plenty of open space in the area for dog walks and toilet trips.
The Village -
Winchcombe is charming and historic, offering a delightful mix of natural beauty, quaint architecture, and rich history. Surrounded by rolling hills, lush woodlands, and expansive countryside.
Winchcombe is a dream for walkers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts. The town is located near the renowned Cotswold Way National Trail, where you can enjoy scenic walks that lead to landmarks like Sudeley Castle and along the picturesque slopes of the Cotswold Hills.

Guest access Guests will have access to the cottage and side patio area. There is no separate rear garden.
Other things to note Please note the following:
- We can accept a maximum of 4 guests and 1 dog.
- There is no rear garden at Castle Cottage. There is a south east facing patio area to the side with table and chairs. For any four-legged friends, there is plenty of space out and around the cottage for toilet trips!
- This is a very old cottage (c.200 years old!) and as such, has some quirks - downstairs doorway to the living room is fairly low, and a free-standing bath which elderly or less mobile people may have difficulty stepping into.
- There is no allocated parking for Castle Cottage so please do not park on or block the lane outside of the cottage. There is a car park at the bottom of the lane on Bull Lane (approx. 100 yards from the cottage).
