We do not recommend renting this unit. It is not as described. We booked for 2 weeks and after 3 nights left because we could not stay comfortably. This unit is actually communal living, which is not clearly outlined in the description. Upon arrival, we expressed our disappointment with the owner and asked for at least a one-week refund. We were given a flat answer of ‘no’ without any attempt by the owner to try & correct any of the misconceptions. Kitchen- Listed as a gourmet kitchen. At best a basic kitchen with 2 pots, 2 cheap frying pans & one large stock pot. The knives were of poor quality that did not even cut a tomato correctly, & very few serving dishes. Bedroom/” Walk- In” Closet- There is no privacy as there is no door to close the bedroom off from the rest of the unit. The closet is of normal size. It has two hanging rods & shelves in the middle. Some of the shelf space was taken up by linens & one half of hanging space was occupied by cleaning equipment such as vacuum, making it impossible to use. Living Area-There is one leather sofa, but the 3 cushions (attached to each other) slide off together regularly. The only other seating are 2 counter height IKEA stools, not comfortable at all for more than eating quickly. Amenities- it says the renter has access to the facilities on the estate, which is true, but there are none available at the unit. We asked for a barbeque to be placed on the deck & were told there was a ban on barbeques. This was completely untrue. We checked with authorities & there was no propane barbeque ban whatsoever. The expectation was to pack everything you wanted for barbequing, lug/drive it up hill & barbeque on the communal barbeques. The description does not say any of this transporting uphill to access estate facilities. There was not any furniture on the deck to enjoy a coffee in the morning. The expectation was to go up hill & use the lounges available to all. Unrealistic for first thing in the morning. The only outdoor furniture at the unit was a cheap set of plastic table & chairs, which we had to move onto the deck, & not at all comfortable. Laundry was available for use, but the description did not say it was coin operated. Also expected to take garbage each day, uphill again, to dispose of in the estate’s facilities. The expectation of guests, no matter age or mobility, to trudge uphill is unrealistic & should be clearly stated.
After leaving, we contacted the owner again, still no refund

This suite is a new little house set in the trees of a private 11-acre estate. It was carefully designed to fit in with the trees, and be private. It is not communal.
The kitchen is gourmet. Appliances are stainless steel, there is a European full-size refrigerator, and a Bosch oven. There is a black glass 4 burner cooktop and a stainless steel to the ceiling vent with LED lights. There is all underfloor heating, a dishwasher, white countertops, white backsplash and all silent closing cupboards.
There are white china dishes and bowls with a setting for 4, quality wine glasses and coffee mugs, tea pot, and a full set of stainless-steel Italian pots and pans. The kitchen is equipped with a stainless-steel toaster, coffee maker, good knives, utensils, Pyrex mixing bowls, and several serving platters and dishes. Everything you might need.
The queen-sized bedroom is very private. The bedroom is down a long bright hallway with windows that look to the trees, and past the beautiful fully tiled bathroom. In the bathroom, there is a large walk in shower with a rain shower, and warm tile underfloor heating with a view out to your own private forest.
The Escape suite was custom designed and is bright and open. A bedroom door would not fit in with the style. The bedroom is private, and is spacious. There is a 12 foot mirrored closet, desk, large dresser, side tables, and a comfortable queen sized bed. All white linens, towels, and white bedding.
The living room has a 3-seater leather sofa, a fireplace, TV, a conversation chair, 2 end tables, a coffee table and a colorful wool rug. We have never experienced the guests’ issue with the seats on the leather sofa sliding off, so we can only imagine what the guest was doing to cause this issue.
There is a large grass common area for guest use with a large stainless-steel barbecue, gazebo and large Muskoka chairs for sitting, vegetable and flower garden, and patio tables and several lawn chairs. There is a real outdoor fireplace and a trampoline. From this suite you can walk the gentle hill to the common area in two or three minutes (if you walk slowly), or you can drive in less than a minute, as there is parking right beside the common area. Barbecues are not allowed on the large outdoor deck of this suite, as it is a fire hazard with the tree canopy.
There is a white round table and 4 chairs on the private deck of this suite. There are also two yellow art deco lounging chairs on the deck. Please see the photos.
There is a guest laundry with a high-quality commercial washer and dryer. The cost is only ONE dollar. This is just to cover the electricity use. Not expensive at all.
It is suggested that guests remove their garbage daily. Guests can easily drive to where the Estate garbage bins are beside the common lawn area. Again, this is not difficult. VRBO policy does not give refunds after the cancellation dates.
We are sorry that this guest was disappointed. We know that you won’t be. Come and enjoy the peace and privacy of The Escape, and the beauty of Xanadu Estate.

quiet, serene, pretty, secluded ... sleep so well!
Great spot, great space and lovely hostess who happily showed me all the features and benefits of what was to be my new home. Also thought this spot worthy enough to google review ... so I guess that would give it 10 stars!
