Idyllic lake view cabin with excellent amenities and supplies. Adjacent road can be a bit loud at times.Hosts are friendly. Hot tub with a great view was uber relaxing. Highly recommend.
The cottage was fantastic, with lots of extras like sound system, well equipped kitchen and lots of towels. The access from the road needs some work, and was a bit scary for me with a cane. Loved the hot tub annd outdoor heaters, BBQd some steaks, even a chilly lake swim. Overall we had a great time.
The view is gorgeous, and the water accessibility is excellent; the hot tub and deck are luxurious. They have made everything easy for a relaxing, connective, simplified holiday. The hosts were so easy to communicate with and everything was comfortable and clean. We would definitely come back to this same rental! Amazing!!
What a gem! Check-in was incredibly easy, and Candice came to meet us and explain a few things to make our stay even more comfortable(how to work the stereo and heat lamps outside… Fantastic features)The place was incredibly clean, comfortable and what a location. We had a fantastic weekend, relaxing inside when the weather was bad and playing on the lake in the kayaks provided. Highly recommended and will be back for sure
We had a blast staying at this VRBO. Scott was so awesome and gave us a really great tour of the place when we arrived. The location, amenities, and cabin were perfect. Scott even let us dock a float plane at his dock which was very cool! I would highly recommend this place to anyone! Thanks again Scott!
Honestly, the pictures don't do it justice, especially the location on the lake. It is situated possibly on the best part of the lake, giving maximum sun exposure on a quieter bay, all the way up to evening sunsets. Location location location. And if you enjoy, swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking or other activities on the water, this cabin has a great set up. For the colder or rainy days, the cabin has plenty to do inside as it is loaded with great tech, and the area has so many hikes shops, wineries and breweries/distilleries/cideries. You'll never run out of things to do. Finally, hosts were great, easy to work with, and highly responsive. Clearly they take great pride in the cabin and role as a VRBO host.
We had a fantastic stay here during the off-season (November) and it was exactly what we were looking for. The area is more active and noisy in the Summer but when we went it was very quiet and laid back. It rained a lot but that didn't bother us at all in the surprisingly large hot tub on the covered deck. The house amenities were modern and in great condition. It felt more like a luxury resort than a cabin by a lake. We had 4 adults in our group but there would have been more than enough room for 6. While you're standing next to the lake, it feels like you're hundreds of miles from civilization, but you're actually only about 40 minutes outside of Victoria, which makes the location ideal if you want to explore southern Vancouver Island. The owner met us when we arrived and gave us a tour, they were very helpful.
This is a really nice, well equipped home on Shawnigan Lake. You cant beat the view and all of the well thought out touches to the place. Outdoor and indoor fireplaces, outdoor heaters, hot tub, kayaks, sound system indoor and out, outdoor ice machine and fridge, massive indoor fridge and freezer... We spent a lot of time in the hot tub and on the dock looking at the stars! I would definitely come back. Important things to note.... Parking is across the busy road and then the house in down a flight of precarious stairs. Don't bring big bulky suitcases...watch your head on the steps as you leave....there is a large wooden roof beam that our taller guest hit his head on a couple times. If you're a light sleeper bring ear plugs. The traffic is loud and constant at night. Ear plugs did the trick. Don't let the traffic deter you though as you won't notice it during the day and the place feels like an oasis despite being off the road. The owners have done a beautiful job making it feel peaceful and secluded. You won't be disappointed.
Stop looking and book this property. The lake is literally at your front door, kayaking around local islands and spending time on the dock, deck and in the Hottub was perfect! Amazing indoor / outdoor music and beer fridge/ice machine set the perfect tone for our staycation. Our group of friends had the best week!
The lakefront is beautiful. The home is a quirky, comfy mix of rustic and euro-modern. The beds were comfortable; the kitchen is well-equipped. The deck is great for outdoor dining even in cooler weather. Kayaking was fun. We enjoyed going between the hot tub and the lake.
The property is right on the water with a wide open view of the lake. It had a great little private sandy beach and a private dock. There's lots of deck space for lounging outside including both open and covered seating, along with a hot tub, gas grille, overhead heaters, and fireplace of cooler nights.
The owner, Scott, was very responsive to any questions about how to use any of the many amenities including a HUGE television in the living room, the A/C, or any of the numerous built in speakers throughout the house on on the deck.
The kitchen was very well equipped with all the appliances you'd want and a huge fridge and freezer. All in all it was a great stay and we plan to return for a longer stay later in the summer!
This property was the perfect place for our family get away and enjoy some lakeside living. The well supplied kitchen was ideal for cooking our Thanksgiving feast. We were also able to take advantage of the kayaks provided and spend some time exploring on the water. Scott was incredibly easy to communicate with and his responses were timely and helpful. A great spot to stay!
The pictures didn't do this cabin justice! It was the perfect getaway. The amenities were beyond expectation. Great set up! The host was lovely, easy to get ahold of, and gave a thorough review of the cabin at check-in. Would definitely recommend!
We booked the property for 18 nights so our renos at home could take place. Was a nice break from a COVID year. Scott was very easy to communicate with, he checked on us often and completed weekly maintenance of the hot tub. November on the lake with lots of rain but still used the Kayak's and had a fantastic time enjoying the views. This place has a wonderful feel to it where relaxation is easy. Thank you Candace & Scott.
The views out the lakes side windows are simply amazing! The covered deck and heaters allowed us to enjoy the views on colder days. The inside has some renovations however flooring needs some work. The main bedroom is spacious however other bedrooms are very small and limited storage. The parking is across a busy road and requires caution! Overall this is a great property and if your after some amazing views and a place to relax this is your place. Scott was very attentive to anything we need and a great host.
Beautiful location, lovely landscaping, home was clean, all amenities were available. Love the little sandy "beach" nice dock, deep water for swimming. Friendly, accommodating hosts, always available when needed. Everything I looked for in a vacation home for my family. We will stay again! Thank you Scott and Candace!
This property is fantastic. Great spot on the lake, with the provincial park island just a short kayak away. It gets sun all evening until it finally sets behind the hills on the opposite side of the lake. The house was very comfortable and the large deck was perfect for BBQ's and drinks. Scott was very responsive and friendly, we had no issues at all during our stay. Awesome place and can't wait to return next year.
We had a terrific time at this house on Shawnigan Lake. It was perfect for us. And the owner was exceptionally nice and helpful. We’d return in a minute .
Scott the owner was so accommodating. It was our first time to the island and he made great suggestions from day trips to restaurants to vineyards. And don’t miss the Whale watching in Cowichan Bay.
The house as super clean and had everything you would need for your stay. The desk ran the full width of the property and overlooked the lake, which has outstanding sunsets. There is a little beach area my granddaughter enjoyed building sandcastles and we all had a turn on the Kayaks and explored a couple of islands.
Perfect dock for your water toys and good fishing.

Great lakeside cabin
Wonderful lakefront cabin - we very much enjoyed our time on the patio and the easy access to the lake. Bedrooms and washrooms are quite small but sufficient. Great location for any water activities.

Amazing lake front getaway!
This was the perfect location for a summer getaway - we will be back! We wanted to visit the Cowican. Valley to check out some of the local vineyards, and this house was the perfect place to call home for the weekend. The house has a great layout and you can’t beat the deck and lake views. From morning coffee on the dock, to an afternoon paddle to explore the lake, to an evening BBQ on the deck followed by a hot tub - this house really has it all. Comfortable beds, cozy, clean, and stocked with all of the essentials plus more - we were really at home. The owners are incredibly helpful and attentive and have thought of all of the details. Great spot to relax and enjoy all this area has to offer. Thanks again Scott and Candace - a weekend we won’t forget!
