Greet house, river front location was as promised and the sockeye fishing was absolutely amazing in the back eddy. Lots of snags to get around but once you find the sweet spot it’s constant fish -on action
Fantastic fishing and beautiful home!! The water was low enough so it was easy for younger kids to get in and out of the water to fish. The fish cleaning station worked out great. The outside and inside fire places are dreamy. The house is close enough to the river you can hear the rapids from 3 of the 4 bedrooms. Can’t say enough great things about this property. We will be back!!
What a comfortable modern lodge like feel for yourself to enjoy!
Firewood’s stacked
Woodpeckers pecking
Jackrabbits hopping by and the occasional moose so one must keep the gate shut…
The entire experience out of a storybook
We checked in to this property at the peak of autumn colors.... the huge windows in this home and the outdoor patio areas themselves were great for maximizing outdoor time- even when it was necessary to stay in with a sleeping baby. Beautifully equipped, very functional home and nice home base for all kinds of activities, not just fishing! Flight tours, hiking, dining, or staying in an making good use of that kitchen! The game room was great to take our little one and let her run around and squawk while our elderly parents enjoyed their coffee in the living room.
Tyler and Tina were great. This place was worth every penny.
We recently stayed at this beautiful property and had an excellent vacation! The property exceeded our expectations and provided us with a comfortable and cozy home base for our winter activities.
The location was perfect for us as we were able to go snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ice fishing, and even downhill skiing at Alyeska! The property was well-equipped with everything we needed and more, including a fully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and a great living space to relax in after a day of adventure. We especially enjoyed the outdoor fireplace even as temperatures dipped below zero!
The highlight of our stay was the stunning views of the Northern lights! We even had the pleasure of seeing moose walking down a nearby street! The property was also conveniently located near local shops and restaurants, which made it easy for us to get everything we needed for our stay.
Overall, we had a fantastic time at this property and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-equipped vacation home in Soldotna. We can't wait to come back again!
We enjoyed the property with a few exceptions.
1. No curtains in the living room and in the afternoon the sun makes it impossible to sit on the couch as it blinds you. We got up at 2:00am and needed to get to sleep early but the curtains in master bedroom allowed the bright evening sun shine right on the pillow area.
2. Mater bathroom shower is dangerous. When the cement floor gets wet its a slip and slid. Be very careful ...
3. Im a hard care coffee drinker and there is not one mug in the house. They provide small white cups.. more like tea cups..
4, windows and BBQ were not clean. We were the first people in this year so lots of cobwebs and dust on windows.
5. there is a public park across the river with lots of singing and noise.
6. They have Wolf appliances and the stove top burner is SO CLOSE to you it just about catches your shirt on fire. Im a chef and cook on a professional store and have never seen this.
7. since its a fishing retreat it would be nice to have a freezer for the fish.
Its a great property and would stay there again. Tine is accommodating. Alex the river guide they recommend was fabulous and knows the river well.

Thank you for the nice review and constructive feedback! I am so glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay with us! Even though it was early in the season I think you were able to take advantage of the many opportunities Alaska has to offer during the long summer days! As you discovered, it is difficult to block out all of the sunlight when there is 20 hours of sunshine each day. We have shades in all of our rooms that do a pretty good job at blocking direct sunlight but they are not very good at completely darkening the rooms. We have bath mats available in the master bathroom for guests who find the floor a little too slippery. I guess you did not see them so we will be sure to move them to where they are more plainly seen. We have many coffee mugs in the cupboard by the wine refrigerator. We also have two large freezers outside in the wood shed area for guests to use. Please be sure to bring any concerns you may have to Tyler the next time you stay with us as I am confident that he will be able to resolve to your satisfaction whatever concerns you may have.

Not for fishing
We rented both the main house and guest house for a week of fishing . We make the trip every year around the third week of July to try and hit the peak of the incoming Reds .The ownership group that owns the property was aware that our main purpose was to come up and fish away from the crowded public areas.. The price was a little steeper than other properties that we had rented in the past but having private river access was worth it to our group.
On the first day of our trip a few of the guys went down to the river to try their luck . Within an hour of fishing one the neighbors bordering our property approached my son who was on our property attempting to fish . The man was visibly upset and began questioning my son about our group. Did we rent the house to fish ? How many of you are there ? Do you know the owners ? My son did his best to answer as to not make the man any more upset .The neighbor began to threaten us with being arrested, that it was Illegal for us to be fishing here . He yelled at us that the covenant and restrictions in the development preclude VRBO type rentals that allow guest to fish .After his tirade the neighbor went back to his home . I immediately contacted the caretaker of the property and explained that we had paid top dollar for a peaceful fishing trip and that this was far from it .The caretaker said he would go talk to neighbor and that had problems with those owners before. On his return from talking with the neighbors he said everything is ok now go and fish .
Well the talk didn’t have affect we all had wanted . The next day the same neighbor and his neighbor came at our group on two more occasions each more aggressive than the last . They blasted the same speak , that we had no right to be fishing the river as vacation renters . That we were trespassing and would be arrested . If looking at the river the neighbor to the left said we will make it so uncomfortable for you that will never be back! This guy took it as mission to get us out no matter what he had to do to make it happen.
I must clarify that at No time did any member of our group set foot on anyone’s property other than the one we had rented .
By this time we had enough of this boorish behavior and tried to find a way to save our vacation and fishing trip . We decided to rent two boats in town and use them to find uncrowded public fishing areas.
We stopped fishing the property and used the boats the remainder our trip.
We paid for river access ? Why ?

Although not every request can be accommodated we do our best to provide for our guests’ needs and to resolve problems as soon as possible. We were pleased that during your stay you enjoyed our property and expressed how nice our home was and how happy you were with the service being provided. Despite the unfortunate disagreement with the person next door you had indicated that everything else exceeded your expectations. As soon as you alerted us about the situation with the person next door we immediately took action and met with him to discuss his actions. He explained that there were many people fishing in front of his property and he sent us a picture showing your group in front of his property. He was very upset but apologized for his rude behavior. When you told us that his behavior continued the next day we contacted our attorney he made sure that the person understood the law and understood that he was mistaken. After the second day the person next door no longer caused any problems. You had made the decision to rent two fishing boats prior to your arrival and you showed up on our property with two boats. We have no control as to the amount of fish in the river and this year was a disappointing year for sockeye on the Kenai. We were pleased to know that you caught a lot of fish from your boats. Our property manager cleaned, vacuum sealed and packaged over 450 pounds of fish that your group caught – at no expense to you – as this was a perk we offered this first year of operations. Although tipping was not required it would have been much appreciated. A couple of weeks after your stay with us you contacted us to request that we pay for some of the cost of your rental boats. We believe this request was not justified as we had resolved the situation with the person next door. After explaining this to you, you stated that your rating on VRBO would be dependent upon whether or not we provided you with a kickback. You made it clear that if we were to give in to your demand you would give us a high rating, and if not, you would give us a low rating. We are two home
My family rented both the main house and guest house. We had such a wonderful time, everything was immaculate. The property is very roomy and relaxing, had everything we could have needed for cooking, extra blankets, marshmallow skewers, fish processing station, you name it! The property is a perfect base for fishing, easy to move around/drive to new spots on the river where the fish are running, The property manager, Tyler, was very helpful and very responsive. We hope to stay here again next time we visit Alaska!
We rented this property along with the smaller house on the property for 7 adults and 5 children in July 2022. This property is Amazing and Tyler the property manager is terrific. These houses have everything you need for large groups and Tyler is very easy to communicate with and very helpful. Check-in/check-out was easy. The kids loved the pool table, and other games. The outdoor fire place is so much fun, we enjoyed it very day. The fishing dock on the Kenia is wonderful and fun for all. The property is in a perfect location, close to town and right on the river.
Thanks for sharing such a special property right on the Kenai River. The house is beautiful and thoughtfully designed and maintained. We had a long travel day to arrive and were greeted with snacks and wine on the counter. The house was well stocked to cook in the beautiful kitchen. We loved the game room and the fire place in the back and of course, fishing off the pier in the backyard. What a great vacation, can't wait to come back!
This house was perfect for the 8 of us. Great location. Loved the private dock and outdoor area to hang out at night and roast marshmallows with the kids. Loved all the amenities in the house and the large kitchen, game room, laundry room and bedrooms were great. Property manager was very helpful and friendly. 5 stars!!! Hope to go back someday.
This is house is amazing and everything I want in a rental. Very Luxury and clean. Located prime on the Kenai river. This place has a private dock with everything you need accommodated. Most important the house manager reaching out and makes sure you have everything you need and directs you for a good experience. With my four trips to Alaska, this will be the place I am booking for all my return trips.
Had a great stay in Soldotna with some friends looking to escape Anchorage for the weekend. Despite being close to the neighbors on either side, the house and yard felt private and quiet. Great design for entertaining and socializing.
The house was well appointed with everything one would need for a second Reds run family fishing trip. Indoor and outdoor space was plentiful. Having the Kenai River out of back door provided a beautiful backdrop to watch fish caught across the way and evening family fires. A large covered picnic table was perfect for family dining and outdoor fire pit provided the heat for many a smores. We experienced more positives than negatives at this property yet there were a few worth mentioning. Fishing in back of the house is NOT doable. The water is too slack in the eddy. This was a BIG disappointment and falsely claimed both in my communication and on the site in the home description. The master bath shower was dangerous- scalding water that was difficult to control and a very slippery floor. Cameras on the property were a little unnerving too. Overall ,we had a great stay but accuracy of house description was not as it was written. When you pay the kind of money we did you expect to get what you paid for.
We loved our stay. Tyler the property manager was amazing. The house was wonderful. The setting was perfect. We had not problem with the other guests in the guest house, but I don't feel like initially on the listing it was noted in the major description that someone else would be on the property. We had no problems with the people there, but I think that is important to put in the major description. The beds were comfortable. The house was stocked with everything! Could not have asked for a better vacation!
The house was just as described and lived up to all our high expectations. We managed to catch over 50 salmon in 5 days just at the back of the house! Thank you for helping us realize a 20 year old dream!!!
This is a amazing property with great service from Tyler the property manager. The house had everything that you could think of just awesome.....We are coming back for more memories.
Tyler, the property manager was excellent!! He was very knowledgeable of the property and of the area. He was helpful and pleasant during our stay. The property was gorgeous and well maintained . The only negative was the fishing dock. Because of the location relative to the flow of the river, it made it difficult to fish for Red salmon. (There was an Eddy just off the dock, so it hindered the fishing when the river water level was high. If the dock could be extended out 6 or 8 feet, it would be ideal.) Overall, very pleased with the stay!
Our Alaska 50th Anniversary Family Vacation, July 2019
Tina's house is great. If anything, it's better than the description on VRBO, especially if you have fishermen in your party. Our grandson had his 19th birthday at the house last week and Tyler (property manager) spent a lot of time helping him to learn how to fish from the fantastic dock. They caught 3 trout and a salmon that first day and we had them for dinner. Then next day Tyson and his dad hired Jim (Alaska Boat Rentals) and Jim took them salmon fishing and they had a great time and caught their limit of Sockeye salmon which they had processed and shipped home. We had a great birthday celebration, played cards and did puzzles, watched some tv, had an outside fire and made Smores … I highly recommend this VRBO location. Note that am sending a bunch of photos directly to Tina by email and she may post some of them here.
