Twin Ponds: Intown Highlands Home-Close to Waterfalls and Hiking, 5 min to OEI
Nature Lover's Dream! Nestled in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Highlands made famous for Joe Webb Cabins, Twin Ponds is perfect for nature lovers! Beautifully appointed home within walking distance to Lake Sequoyah and On the Verandah restaurant. It is a 5 minutes' drive to Old Edwards Inn and Main Street (2 miles), 1-2 mile from Bridal Veil Falls, and Dry Falls, and Callasaja Falls. Our favorite though is to take the private trail right from the front of the house to Cliffside Lake, or walk to tour the famous Joe Webb Cabins. Sip wine on two large covered decks overlooking two ponds on our property, the community garden, , picturesque horse farm and mountains in the distance. Wake up in the morning and have yoga on the deck by the pond, with birds singing around you! Sip coffee on the dock glider to take in the fresh mountain air, and enjoy the beautiful lotus flowers in the pond and fish darting out of water. Read a book in the hammock on a lazy afternoon, or just sit in the rockers hanging out with friends and family. At night, roast marshmallows by the fire pit!
Our home is over 3000 sqft of interior space on three levels, with two full length decks overlooking the ponds, horse farm and community garden. It has 5 bedrooms, and 3 full and 1 half bath. It is a wonderful house with an open floor plan to enjoy the family gathering and entertain. Main floor has cathedral ceilings, a very large living room seats 7-10, with a Mitchell Gold sofa, smart TV, and a gas fireplace at the click of a bottom. Dining room has an enormous Restoration Hardware dining table that can accommodate 10, kitchen with a sliding window to connect to the outdoor bar area. French doors open up to a huge deck, with dining tables, a seating area and an outdoor bar area connected to the kitchen. We just went through a brand new kitchen renovation, with beautiful cabinets, leathered hard marble countertop, and a big island overlooking the garden and horse farm. We have a grill, and an outdoor cooler to make family meals and entertaining easy. Lower Level Deck has 4 rockers, a hammock and another sitting area. Inside the house, upper level has a master bedroom with a King bed, and another bedroom with a queen. Enjoy a soothing bath in the beautiful claw foot tub, big enough for two. Lower level has three bedrooms, 1 King, 1 Queen, and 2 Twins. It also has another sitting area with smartTV and DVD player, and a foosball table that converts to a small pool table. We have prepared lots of games, books and movies for the rainy days. We have four SmartTVs in the house in total for you.
We have attempted to make our home as comfortable as possible to make your visit an exceptional one. We have stocked the kitchen with lots of pots and pans, regular and Keurig coffee, bread maker, toaster, blender, crockpot, rice maker, popcorn maker and more. Contemplating buying a purple mattress? The lower level king bedroom has one. Try it before you buy it. We have also compiled a guide for your stay for various activities and restaurants. There is a starter kit to get your vacation started. We hope you will enjoy Twin Ponds!

A great location - close to town but secluded and tucked away for relaxation! Ample bedrooms so we all had our own space to retreat and rest well, but dinner and shopping and the spa at Old Edwards were only minutes away! Plus the host sent an email with all kinds of local activities and events that were happening during our stay. We would definitely stay again!

Hi Lauren,

We had a great time...really enjoyed the back deck and looking out over the woods and the pond. Walked the neighborhood roads every day.....closer to town than where we have stayed previously....and we had plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable. Loved our stay. You'll probably be hearing from us again for next year!

Absolutely LOVED this property! Cozy yet spacious. Plenty of room for our group of 8. We enjoyed conversations around the fireplace and games on the large kitchen table. Gorgeous deck space with peaceful surroundings, wonderful walks direct from the property. Very convenient to area hiking and towns. Will definitely come back another season to enjoy the outdoor space and fire pit! Such a gem just over 2 hours north of Atlanta!

Our lower level has a purple mattress for the king bedroom, and I always aim to make every bed as comfortable as possible with padded covers. In fact, most of our feedbacks referred to how comfortable the beds are. We will definitely look into it and make sure it will be as comfortable as possible for future guests! Perfect hideaway in Highlands
This home is beautiful! Ithas everything you need for a large group ~ even when it rains for 4 days straight. The back porch furtniure is super comfortable and a perfect gathering spot for games, conversations and late night drinks. The community it is nestled in is lush and quiet with lovely hidden walks just off the driveway. Lei graciously answered my questions as a first time VRBOer and made sure when had everything we needed. We loved it. Thanks, Lei!

Dear Todd and Carol,
Thank you for the kind review. We really enjoyed having your family, and look forward to having y’all back!
Great stay! Plenty of room for our group of 10. Close to town, well appointed, great outdoor space. My only thing would be the condition of the pans. Most were non stick and were horribly scratched. Having experienced this at multiple rentals over the years I bring one of my own when we rent. This doesn’t bother everyone and that’s great! Just mentioning it if it does. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!!
Pro:
Well-equipped kitchen
Nice view of pond, gardens, horses
Dining room table seats 8
Nice deck with comfortable furniture
2 king beds, 2 queen beds, 2 twins
Good Wi-Fi
Laundry room good
Good AC
Very convenient to town
Fooseball table game
Cons:
TV in living room works but not the other ones
Lots of stairs- bedrooms on the bottom & top floors
One bathroom on the bottom floor for 6 people
Only 2 wash cloths - I brought some from home & left them there
Need a new toilet seat downstairs - won’t stay up
Need cleaning tools - we were there for 3 weeks & could’ve used some

Hi Maylinda,
Glad to host you at Twin Ponds, thank you for your review. The TVs should all be working, though guests change the setting so you may have to play with it- they were working when we were there last. I will let the cleaning crew know about the wash cloths, but sometimes they leave them in the bath vanity themselves. I know they always leave more than what is needed. There are cleaning supplies in the cleaning closet in the laundry room, and the cabinets by the laundry, sorry you did not see them.
I am glad you enjoyed the views and decks at the house, that’s my favorite part! Also glad to hear you got to utilized the kitchen- I like to cook and stocked the kitchen with everything I can think of. Glad y’all had a nice stay, and have a great summer!

Disliked: Cleanliness
Lake Sequoyah
This property is not being maintained well. The outside needs a refresh, and the inside was not clean, at all. Dust everywhere except for obvious places. Smoke alarm had no battery in it. All remotes in poor working order due to battery issues. Not cleaned thoroughly and not maintained even close to expectations.

Response from VrboOwner on 24 Sept, 2022
Hi Cindy,
Thank you for the feedback. We keep batteries in a drawer for guests for remotes and smoke alarm (smoke detector was working fine recently. someone must have taken the battery out without our knowledge). It is impossible for us to know when the battery in remotes will go out. We always switch them out when we are there, but do stock extra batteries for folks to use.
It is early fall in the mountains so leaves start to wither and fall. The garden is beautiful in the summer but start to look a little sad before they die back in the winter. We always make sure the path is blown and yard well maintained. If there are any issues with the house, it is always immediately taken care of. We have a team of cleaners for the inside, always leave it nice and clean. I will definitely let the cleaners know, but this company clean for a lot of nice area rentals and were highly recommended by area professionals.

Absolutely beautiful home and location, but had some inconvenices while staying there.
The house is absolutely beautiful! Cannot speak highly enough about the cleanliness of the home and the furnishings. It was a great fit for a girls weekend in Highlands! It’s in a great location and in an easy distance from downtown shopping and eating. Unfortunately, when we arrived to the home there was no propane/gas and therefore no hot water, no working kitchen, no working fireplace, etc. The homeowner did help us resolve these issues but it remained a big issue and huge inconvenience well into the second night. Once the propane was filled, we discovered a leak and the entire house had a very strong gas smell that resulted in the fire department having to come out on our second night. We were given a reimbursement for some of the stay, and I certainly understand that things happen but don’t feel the renter should be expected to pay for inconvenience or when the house and it’s services do not match the posting.

Hi Aughtry,
Thank you for the review, and thank you for the kind words about the house! Again, I am very sorry for the propane running out during your stay. We tried to take care of this as soon as possible. We ended up having to pay $400 extra for the emergency delivery so y’all can be up and running that night. The propane delivery team told us that the gas smell is a result of the fill up.
Again, I am very sorry for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, things happen. Thank you again for your understanding. We did our best to get the emergency propane delivery. I hope the two nights’ refund we sent works for you. We also shipped Laura’s items left behind the next day- hope she received them. Thank you for your understanding.
Our best wishes,
Lei
Twin Ponds is a wonderful, serene spot in which to relax and enjoy the beauty and peace of the mountains. It's convenient to town, but once you settle in you may not want to leave! The home is spacious and bright. Lei is a very responsive host--cannot recommend highly enough.

About the host
Hosted by Lei Shan Stockton
We love to travel, we love good food, and we love the outdoors. Highlands combines the wonderful qualities of fine dining, arts and music with the outdoors. The amenity for this little mountain town is unparalleled in this region. This makes it a perfect location to explore the mountains, waterfall, fishing, golfing and everything it has to offer.
Why they chose this property
We have been looking to purchase in Highlands for several years. When we saw this property, it was love at first sight. As beautiful as the house is, what we LOVE the most is the property and its surroundings. It is dynamic and ever changing. We love the beautiful garden in the summer, watching the horses throughout the day, the laurel lined street, the beautiful flowers throughout the property, and the mountain in the background. And best of the all, listening to water flowing at night while hanging out on the deck. We love just grabbing some wine and soaking in the mountain air. It is so magical!
What makes this property unique
There are several walking trails only known to locals without having to get into any cars... This house has two huge decks that overlook the valley: whether the Arabian horses grazing, life in the community garden, or or smoke from the trees in the mountain... it is an ever-changing scenery. Or is it: Coffee on the dock of the ponds... I can't decide:)
