This is the perfect home for an anytime getaway. This is a great location, with private access to Sengenkontacket Pond, tennis courts, a lovely fish pond within the development, affording guests an easy access to local golf options, bike paths, and public beaches; conveniently located offering a quiet respite while affording you easy access to the towns, beaches, the airport, and Up Island. Its’ head to toe renovation/remodeling welcomes new and old visitors alike. Our tenants are our guests that we treat as long family friends. We rent by the week (although there is some flexibility) and need a minimum of 2 days notice before your arrival.

Although, on VRBO the house is listed as being in Edgartown, the property actually sits in Oak Bluffs (and has an OB address) with the Edgartown boarder transversing the rear of our wooded yard.

Come experience your memorable Vineyard respite in this recently updated home with all the modern conveniences, making for a ‘home away from home’ vacation. This wonderful classic cape with all the modern conveniences captivates all visitors, with many returning guests. With MV wind chimes reminding you of a bygone era, hardwood floors, an open floor plan, Anderson sliders that open to an inviting wrap around deck for great outdoor living, it retains the Vineyard rhythm, charm, and appeal for your relaxing stay. The living room features a grand beach-stone hearth and vaulted ceilings, which flows into an inviting dining area. A pristine kitchen affords flexibility of summer dining whether grilling or preparing your lobster in the pot.

The entire house has all completely new interior furnishings with tranquil summer colors, delightful seascape artwork, and elegant yet functional pieces for your comfort. Our new fully finished basement featuring a family room with 65” flat screen TV, a bedroom with a queen bed and large double hung egress windows and privacy French doors, a fantastic beach themed full bath, a game room, heated floors throughout and 2 Fujitsu mini-splits for all season comfort.

Decide to sleep in while enjoying blissful ocean breezes about your inviting bedroom. Sit on the front porch or the hammock and sunbath. Take a kayak and row the day away on Sengekontacket Pond, or pack a picnic lunch and row over to Joseph Sylvia State Beach for a swim or some bridge diving. End the day “chill-laxing” in the high backed Adirondack chairs on the rear private patio while you and the family roast marshmallows on the fire pit.

The vast island bike trails are inviting and sit near the house, or if you are a hiker, you can trek the ubiquitous land-bank trails for the offering, many in close proximity. You'll also be around the corner from the world-famous Farm Neck Golf Course, where the challenge of 18 holes rest among the amazing MV landscape.

Two upstairs bedrooms each have full private baths. The romantic master suite features a new king size bed. The 2nd bedroom hosts 2 new twin beds. The first floor family room has lovely french doors, and ample comfortable seating, a flat screen TV, and yet another full bathroom. In a pinch there is also a single pull out on the upstairs landing and a double pull out in the basement available for your use.

Ellen's MV Hideaway - everything for a great stay

Ellen's MV Hideaway is a great name for this property! Nestled in a quiet neighborhood the location is an easy and short drive to everywhere on the Island. There is plenty of space for visitor groups both large and small. From the large family style dining table to the comfortable couches and chairs in the den, living room, and basement all the furniture is first rate. Each bedroom has comfortable mattresses and a bathroom en suite, which we found to be very convenient. The kitchen is well stocked with all the essentials needed for those who enjoy cooking. The wrap-around deck and back patio are great features. We did use them a couple of times.Appliances are all modern and we put them to good use.Connecting to the Wi-Fi network was easy and we never experienced any glitches. The owner also has some sports equipment in the garage, such as bikes, tennis rackets (which we used), croquet, and kayak paddles. We found this to be a perfect setting that gave us a nice peaceful place to rest after being out and about every day.The owners were very communicative from the start of our trip planning to the end. We were provided very clear and reasonable instructions regarding "house rules" which we appreciated very much.We recommend Ellen's MV Hideway!

Amazing Property!!

This property is absolutely beautiful, from the outside landscaping to the decor inside. It is wonderfully located - minutes from both Oaks Bluff and Edgartown. The property owners were extremely attentive and helpful with recommendations on places to stay and things to do. Lastly, cleanliness is extremely important to me and it was impeccably clean from top to bottom.

MV Family Vacation

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Ellen's MV Hideaway, for a week long vacation with four adult children. The house is in a lovely, quiet neighborhood in a great location, and is just as it is shown in the pictures. The landscaping is very pretty. The kitchen is well equipped with nice appliances. The decor is beautiful with quality furnishings. There are three family room areas, and each bedroom has comfortable beds, with a separate, nicely designed bath. We all had plenty of room to gather and plenty of privacy. I'm very picky about where I stay and this house did not disappoint!

Absolutely wonderful!

We loved our MV trip and this property. The house is beautiful, spacious, secluded, yet close to everything! The property is gorgeous, on a quiet street between Edgartown and OB. Includes access to a pond and tennis courts. Plenty of space for the family to stretch out indoors and out. The finished basement is a huge added plus. We had access to beach chairs and bikes, which made packing and traveling easier. Owners were in touch regularly (via text) to check in and make suggestions. We were sorry to have to leave, MV is magical and this house allowed us to relax and experience it all. We’ll be back.

Wonderful and Relaxing!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ellen's MV Hideaway! A perfect location, convenient to all MV has to offer. The house is beautifully and comfortably appointed. The host was very responsive, thoughtful, and gave us wonderful ideas for our stay. My family of teenagers loved the home with it's many places to read, rest and relax. We highly recommend this property for your next trip! Many thanks for a relaxing vacation on MV!

About the host

Hosted by The Owner

Host profile image
I am a "mature" professional, married to a wonderful wife, and the proud parent of three amazing sons. I have been a summer OB frequenter my entire life, having grown up spending many a carefree summer on the island. Life motto: work hard, play hard and be true to self, while trying to help as many as you can along the way.

Why they chose this property

It is so comfortable that you may never want to leave. Really! Unlike other summer rentals which may be a little ‘campy’, Ellen's Hideaway will be a home away from home, with invitingly complementing seating/bedding and art work that make this home comfortable, peaceful and relaxing.

What makes this property unique

Excellent proximity to OB, VH, and ET, on the bike trail, 1 mile from the island YMCA...and 2 blocks from SENGENKONTACKET POND!
