We had a great time staying at Cala de Hucares. Walk on the beach, swim in the pool, or choose from the twenty or so bars and restaurants that line the ocean, minutes away.

Loved the security of this gated home, we were less than a mile from lots of restaurants and bars, definitely try Kalizo Puerto Rico cuisine. Pool and private beach were definitely a perk. Would stay again for sure.
The owners were truly delightful and the fact that this property is in a gated community with very careful guards made us feel very good about our stay.

Julie and her family were exceptional guests. She was very communicative and attentive. We would be happy to have her and her family return as our guests anytime!
My wife commented that the master bedroom bed was the most comfortable she had ever slept in. Nice new kitchen setup, nice complex with good pool. Had to deal with road noise, most people used ear plugs. The restuarants right down the street were great, reasonably priced, generous portions, awesome.

Hi Jim. We love hearing that folks enjoyed their vacation. Please visit again. Thank you. Dalia
We really enjoyed our stay. Place had everything we needed. The hosts were wonderful answering all our questions and were spot on for recommendations of where to eat! We would def stay there again!!!
Our only issue was the pool, you can only reserve for an hour a day. If nobody reserved, then you can stay longer. When there was an issue, we went to the beautiful private beach on the property.
Great area, beautiful quiet beach, good pool, great tennis or pickleball court, right next to 20 restaurants all reasonable priced, supermarket and town very close, and a good public beachs 25 m away. Its not a big touristy town. Street is a little loud but its Puerto Rico they don't have noise ordinances and appliances and cookware were a little worn besides that I'd come back..

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Occasionally we need to replace items n im glad you mentioned it and yes the Malecon attracts lots of visitors but that's what makes it great.
The property is located in a cute little town with access to restaurants and ocean views within a 1 min drive. It included all amenities, plus extra. Other than the condo being a little old, it met and exceeded all of our needs for the price.
The whole property was nice and the landscaping was treated every day..
The apartment was nice clean and very home like... Everyone from property owners to the security was nice, polite and very informative when ask a questions..
Location was key.. close to all .. we had a ball.. thks

Kasa de Kay offered a distinctive experience, providing all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. Located on the beachfront of Naguabo, Puerto Rico, it features a pool, tennis court, basketball hoop, and more. Its strategic proximity to El Malecon, El Yunque, and the beautiful east coast beaches of PR makes it an optimal choice. The owner was warm and knowledgeable, offering suggestions for my enjoyable first experience in Puerto Rico. I strongly recommend her three bedroom condo to anyone, and I express my gratitude for sharing her well-appointed and comfortable home.
Perfect location. It was loud. But it was 3 kings weekend. And we expected it to be. Place needed a little update- But everything work fine. Holiday weekend and the pool was closed??

Hi William, Yes when there are festivities especially during the holidays not much can be done. Unfortunately, the pool lining was being replaced and it took longer than the complex expected. Im glad you were able to work out the remote control issue and the door locks. Hope you enjoyed your stay. Mrs Kaye
We enjoyed our stay overall, though there were a few hits and misses that impacted our stay. Some of these were well outside the hosts' control, but as far as recommending the property the issues are still valid.Let's start with the pros. The property is nice and the beach is great. While there are no private beaches in PR, this was as close to a beach as once can get I think. The pool is nice as well. It has a nice little covered gazebo area with chairs and tables which makes it a nice place to sit and eat lunch. The water was quite cold during our visit but then again the air was quite warm. The unit itself is nice. The kitchen is well stocked and the unit is spacious with three bedrooms. The beds were comfortable TNow for the friction points...- The gate guards don't speak English for the most part. So be prepared to know your unit number in Spanish and a rudimentary sentence on why you're there in case they don't have your paperwork (they didn't have ours)- The unit is on the flight path for Roosevelt Roads. No one can control this. But every night we were woken up by F-35s and F-22s landing between 2am and 6am.- The AC in one of the bedrooms stopped working on our last day.- The tennis courts are closed and unavailable due to resurfacing.- It is on Hwy 3. You will hear every motorcycle blaring its music at midnight that drives by. And if it's a holiday, you will hear the loudest fireworks ever as only shutters, no windows.

Hello Todd, im glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Even though many parts of the island is bilingual some are not especially the closer you get to the rain forest and the country but that should not ruin your trip considering that you run a program for students to study abroad. We are at the moment experiencing some flight activity over our area but alot less than San Juan. Our area is well known all over the island for the best fish and seafood and the food is fantastic so it does attract business but you doesn't want to enjoy a beautiful sunset while having dinner. I do hope you visit us again but try a different time of year instead of the holidays. Dalia
This was a great landing spot for our family. We loved having access to a small quiet beach and pool. And the location served us well for adventures to nearby beaches, el yunque, great local restaurants with fresh fish, vieques ferry, etc. the condo was well equipped and we appreciated having a balcony, an equipped kitchen, a w/d, and plenty of sleeping space for our family! Also so great to have beach chairs and towels.
The property is well kept and spacious. At first we thought the configuration of the A/C units and fans was a little off, but after seeing how A/C is generally done across the island, we realized that it is up to par. I don't mean this as a bad thing; but just as a note to folks coming from the mainland that "island style" is a thing and you need to be open minded. The bedrooms were cold enough to be comfortable, but if the doors were all kept cold, the rest of the apartment could get a bit warm. Again, not uncomfortable, just different if you are expecting central air.
The third floor location wasn't a problem, and the addition of the roof access was awesome. A great place to relax after a day of exploring or to watch the weather roll in over the ocean.
The only downside to the location was the proximity to the road; traffic starts early and some of the trucks were pretty loud. If you are an early-riser or heavy sleeper, you won't mind much at all.
As for the owners, Glenn and Dahlia were great. They reached out to us several times before our trip and had lots of excellent suggestions on activities, restaurants, and points of interest around the apartment. They were also extremely helpful in allowing us to extend our rental due to an unforeseen illness. I highly recommend renting from them.
The unit is nice and clean, perfect place to spend with family and friends.
Food in the area is delicious, eat at el malecón and the local bakery.
The unit owner are very nice and caring people.

Pros and Cons.... PLEASE READ!
We stayed here in cala de hucares on may 2021.
Pros: -check in very easy
- property maganer always a quick call or text away
-Pool always clean and available
-A/C rooms awesome always work very well
-Yes is fully furnished no need to get anything just your groceries to cook if that's what you plan on doing.
- it also has grills and things for the beach and pool wich is nice.
Cons: -Apartment was dusty when we check in, like if not been clean for weeks.
-left over stuff of pantry food in the small pantry, but they looked like they where outdated and never been threwn out.
-I know P.R. is hot, but the livingroom, kitchen and dining area are an inferno of heat after 12 and on, there is no A/C in that area of the apartment.
- We expirienced a power outage after our 1st week there and the manager was not able to find us a place to spend the night with 5 childrens, thank the Lord we had family and they help us stay with them for that night.
Plus after we pass by the property that same night the security guard told us that is nothing new on Cala de hucares apartments that always happens once a month, so that for me is no good, for that reason we not going back.
After all, the area is not bad, yes it's loud is not a quiet street so if you want something quite this is not for you, at night is loud and in the mornings the neighbors across street are always talking loud. Hopefuly all this helps you on your desition.

Cala de Hucares complex is located on beautiful bay of Naguabo on the countryside. There are local eateries which are very popular and may have music and street noise. The Unit you stayed in is up to date and cleaned the day before a guest checks in especially during covid but power outages are out of our control and an act of God just like bad weather. There happened to be a transofmer that went out down the street and affected our entire complex and these situations are not frequent like you mentioned. We go above and beyond for our guest and when we were notified of the power going out we tried to find a location for the night for you and your family but to no avail. Keep in mind that we are a private residency and not a travel agency and are not reponsible for outside accomadations. That being said we were told that you were staying with family that was not too far away and we compensated you for the nightly stay. I know its difficult to travel with 4 small children and especailly during covid but we always try our best to accomodate. Sincerely our best, Dalia & Glenn.
Such a fun place to stay! We loved the location and loved the condo. And the property owners were so helpful and great to work with.
