Michael and Dawna could not be nicer hosts. They had everything we needed for our family of 5, even access to their extensive spice collection, stocked paper towels, toilet paper, detergent, floss, lotion- the works ! They really went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay. The property itself is very secluded. I liked that all 3 bedrooms are located on the same floor. At night we could hear owls which was really cool and during the day we picked fruit from a variety of hearty fruit trees on the property (lemons the size of baseballs , limes, oranges, grapes, advocados , and figs). There is no traffic where the house is tucked back on a private road and it Is so peaceful and quiet . We did a lot of day trips during our stay- Monterey , 17 mile drive , San Fransico , big basin , Santa Cruz, etc and chose the house for its central location . There is a little market , coffee shop and pizza shop nearby. Of course downtown Santa Cruz is not a far drive and that has a lot to offer. Loved their iron skillets for cooking and reverse osmosis system drinking water from the mountain spring. We are from Maryland and couldn’t believe we could sleep with the half door open and no bugs came in. Perfect weather at night . Oh and the hummingbirds come out to visit around 6 pm along with the deer. Lovely property , great location, private hot tub, majestic redwoods on the property, lovely hosts - thanks again Description:

We are centrally located on the Monterey Bay on the central coast of California. Coming in from San Francisco area it takes about 1 1/2 less depending on traffic. You will be heading south from San Francisco on highway 101 or 280 headed to Hwy 85 and going through the Santa Cruz mountains- hwy 17 - until you drop down to sea level in Santa Cruz. Then you are on Hwy 1. You can also take highway 1 south along the coast from the San Francisco area. It's a lovely ride.
For reference purposes we are approximately 5-6 hours north of the greater Los Angeles, CA. This depends on which route you take. The coast route along highway 1 will be more time consuming than highway 101

This is a remarkable house, hidden in the redwoods on a small mountain road several miles from Watsonville. It's a uniquely designed home, a great kitchen, and four bedrooms. The road and driveway up to the house are themselves quite an experience, and guests should be aware that there are quite a few stairs up to the large deck.
You won't find another place quite like this! Custom built from the surrounding redwood forests. Beautiful, unique home with relatively easy access to hiking and beaches in the area. A magical setting!
We had a great stay here, the home was very pretty, peaceful, and secluded. We had plenty of space for everyone and found everything we needed, the kitchen is exceptionally well stocked. Hosts were very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway near Santa Cruz area!
Close to the Bay Area for a weekend getaway. Excellent location for disconnecting from everyday life and a place to enjoy the beautiful trees, blue sky, and wildlife (deer, birds).
It is rare to find a large property like this in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Our group enjoyed the expansive deck, outdoor space, and well equipped kitchen.
This property is beautiful and the house is very unique and well equipped. There are lots of areas outside to gather and play or relax. We were 3 generations of our family from 2-78 and we all enjoyed it. More toys than I’ve ever seen at a rental. Mike was very quick to respond when we had questions. We saw many deer and wild turkeys. There were many things to do within half an hour and nearby grocery stores, but at the house it felt secluded and relaxing. The redwoods are incredible.
Beautiful location secluded in the woods for a fantastic relaxing retreat. The hot tub adds a wonderful extra along with the outdoor grill. Thanks for such a great place to relax and getaway from it all. Can’t wait to come back!

You are welcome back anytime... you are a 5 star guest indeed. As you have stayed here 2 times, you are becoming family.
Nice vacation home surrounded by beautiful redwood trees in the secluded Santa Cruz mountains. House is well equipped. Great place for relaxing and unwinding.
The property is amazing. It was remote, but had the necessary amenities. Redwood trees, lime, avocado trees, hummingbirds and close enough to Santa Cruz and other fun areas. The hosts were very active and responsive. Great stay.
This house is beautiful inside and out. The surrounding property showcases the natural beauty of the area. Kitchen and house have everything you need to cook and enjoy a comfortable stay. Would love to come back again for a longer stay!
Really appreciated how quickly Michael responded to all our questions and how clear all the communication was before our arrival. It made finding the house so easy! Everything was very clean and well kept. Would love to come again someday!
This is one of the most peaceful places we have ever stayed at. What makes it even more incredible is knowing that the entire house was made by the owner and his wife from trees on the property over a 5 year period.. Bring all you need and stay the entire time in the shadows of the beautiful trees and you will not regret it.
We'd come up to Corralitos for a wedding at the Amphitheater of the Redwoods (a wonderful place in itself!) and this house, just about 10 minutes away, was the perfect location for the bride and groom and thier attendants to stay. The property is beautiful, and the house is well loved and comfortable. Highly recommended! And Michael, the owner, was a pleasure to work with!
Beautiful and unique property. Very private and located in lush clearing in the woods filled with birds, wildlife and flowers. The last mile of road to the house was a very steep winding incline, which did take us by surprise
The house was well stocked and contained everything you might need. It was an amazing place to relax and spend time with family. Spa, table tennis, multiple areas to socialize and play area for kids.
We really enjoyed our stay.
My family and I had the pleasure of staying in Michael and Dawna's beautiful home for a few nights and we couldn't have been more pleased. We were visiting family throughout the Bay Area and despite the home being a bit remote, it was within a good distance of Morgan Hill, San Jose, Half Moon Bay, etc. I am quite opposed to modern architecture so naturally, I was delighted by the home. You can tell how much care went into building it, as Michael would be happy to tell you, there’s a warmth and character you don’t find in most vacation rentals. The stained glass windows and Redwood throughout the home are especially beautiful. You can feel the love that Michael and Dawna put into this place, and it makes staying there feel really special. If you’re looking for somewhere peaceful, unique, and full of charm, this is it.
Great place. Large home, bedrooms roomy , kitchen great. Large patios all around house, hot tub, bbq. And magical lighting on trees ( you’ll see what I mean ). Michael was great in accommodating even after I changed dates. Much Appreciated. Go. Need I say more ?
Didnt realize we had booked our stay during the Perseid meteor shower and it was absolutely breathtaking. Theres barely any phone service, and the wifi is slow, but that was the whole purpose of our trip, to disconnect. If youre super scared about losing service in the forest for a weekend, accept it with open arms :)

Dawna and I lived on the property for 3 years without electricity ( we had a generator) during that time, we harvested redwoods. We had the redwood milled into lumber. The lumber dried for over 2 years. During this time period , we also had 2 children and adopted a 9 year old boy. We then developed the property. We designed and built our home using the redwood lumber from the land. We also brought in electricity, developed the artisan well and paved the private road. We raised our four children at our home. They continue to come back and stay as often as possible, They and our 14 grandchildren love the home as much as we do. The homes name is Kopjekia, which is an Africiakans word that means: mountain home. It had this name when we bought the property. (Quite a story about the name) We truly love the home and property. You will too. !!!!!!!
