About this property
Loft in San Lorenzo, two minutes from the Acquario; optional parking
In the most elegant and well populated areas of the old town, only 50 m away from the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and 300 m from Porto Antico, we rent a newly renovated loft, with kitchen, bathroom and a small bedroom.
The apartment, that is under preservation order of the Ministry of Fine Arts, combines ancient elements - such as a beautiful, carved wooden ceiling, the red tiled floor in the small bedroom, a gorgeous marmor sink and even a water pipe, all dated around 1500 - with modern elements, like iron tie-beams that hold up a balcony. Because of its aesthetic and structural peculiarity it has been published on both architecture and furniture journals.
It is entirely furnished and it offers high quality household appliances, ranging from a dishwasher to a combi oven (microwave and convection), a DVD player, TV, locker, washing machine, hair dryer, fridge and deep freezer. There are foru beds - a double bed on the balcony, two sofa-beds in the living room (yellow in the pictures; a single and a double one) and a bed in a small room, that can be turned into a double bed.
The apartment is located at a second floor without lift, all windows face south and get the sun light for several hours, since they have a rather open view on a beautiful little square, full of green: you will be waked up in the morning by the birds singing. It is located in a car-free zone and it is therefore very silent. Nevertheless, it can be directly reached by car - check www.genovaparcheggi.it for conditions and details.
In less than five minutes you can reach several public parkings as well as the main metro stations. It is the ideal starting point to visit the aquarium (3-5 min by foot), downtown (again 3-5 min by foot) and the main museums by foot. In less than 15 minutes by public transportation you can also reach Castelletto, that offers one of the most fascinating and beautiful views of the city.
NOTE 1: There is the possibility to rent a parking slot until December, in the Garage Marina Park in Via della Marina for 15 Euros / day. The garage is 700 m (8 min by foot) from the apartment.
NOTE 2: This loft can host at most 7 persons. Large groups can also book the loft on the first floor in the same building (ad nr. 1877468). There are 13 beds alltogether, 7 here and 6 in the other loft.
To compute the correct total quote, please add the quote for this loft + the one for the other loft, always entering the correct number of persons in each apartment.

About the host
Hosted by Paola

My name is Paola. I spent in Vico Indoratori my first 6 years of marriage. When our second child arrived, we moved to a larger apartment. The loft has become my studio - here I come to work and I can spend entire hours undisturbed, forgetting about life outside. Also Lorenzo, our first child, loves coming back to visit the house where he was born: he climbs up the stairs and goes back to what has been his first room. Of our three children he is the only one who lived the sounds and colors of the old town, he is the only one who has memories of this apartment dunked in centuries of history.
I graduated in Computer science and I am currently working as IT at an international school. I speak german, english and french, I spent long periods abroad and I love meeting people from around the world and showing them corners and secrets of a city that is known to be reserved and closed.
I love traveling myself and discovering the secrets of other countries and cultures. I love photography and each trip represents for me a new oportunity. I love reading, music and sport, in particular we very ofthen spend the best days of the year sailing on our J80 boat.

Why they chose this property
An overview of the surroundings.
The ideal stay in Genoa is of three, preferably four days. The must does are:
1. Portofino and its surroundings, with Camogli, San Fruttuoso and, possibly, Santa Margherita: 1 day visit. You can reach Portofino by car, by train or by ferry from the Expo, two minutes from the apartment. You can also hike on the promontory of Portofino, or stroll through the villages, transfering from one to the next by car, train or ferry. Keep in mind that San Fruttuoso is only accessible on foot or by sea.
2. Cinque Terre: 1 day visit. The best way to reach Cinque Terre is by train, with an Intercity to the first village, Monterosso. To reach all the villages on foot it takes about 5-6 hours. The nicest as well as shortest path (30 min) is between Rio Maggiore (the last village) and Manarola.
3. Aquarium and the historic center: 1 day, i.e. half a day for the aquarium and another half for the historic center. For lovers of architecture and history, however, I suggest a whole day for the old town, visiting Via Garibaldi and its museums.
If you want to stay a few days longer, you can not miss Bocadasse (half a day, or better, one evening), reachable by bus or by foot along the waterfront); Villa Pallavicini in Pegli (half day), accessible by train, bus, car, or ferry from the Expo; a quick ride with the Castelletto lift to see the whole city at your feet! The cimitery of Staglieno, one of the largest monumental cemeteries in Europe a real open-air museum.
Remember, finally, that from Genoa you can reach even the French Riviera and Pisa in just a couple of hours, and in both directions there are wonderful stops, such as for instance Dolceacqua, or Sestri Levante, Lerici and Portovenere.
