About this property
Waterfront Family Retreat with Pool on 7+ acres!
Looking for a place to really enjoy nature, boating, fishing, swimming, family games, campfires and more? Bring your boat! Bring your whole family! Cherry Point Vacation Rental is recently under new ownership and the owners aim to make this vacation the best ever! The picturesque 7.4 acre property can be all yours for the week and includes a deep-water slip, sandy beach (when the tides out) and a floating dock, along the 1,200 feet of waterfront. Eagle, osprey, heron, hawks and waterfowl are as common as the sunrises. The grounds at Cherry Point include an older tennis court: perfect for tennis, basketball, hockey, roller skating and more; a 32’x16’ in-ground swimming pool (surrounded by decking, tables, lounge chairs and some pool toys); and lots of open space on the property with a large field for softball, soccer, badminton, horseshoes, and more including some wooded areas and private little sandy beaches for exploring and relaxing.
Cherry Point is perfect for multi-generational family getaways or multi-family vacations. There is a large main house (the original portion of the main house dates to 1919, featuring unique wood trim, beautiful old wood floors and some unique historic features...) and a newer updated addition which was added in the 1990's. And, if you need more room, there is additional living space we refer to as the "Annex" or “cottage” space with 3 bedrooms, a full bath, and large living area on the 2nd floor of the detached garage, overlooking the pool and water views.
The main house contains 7 bedrooms, 4 1/2 baths, living room with fireplace, den with fireplace, kitchen and dining area for group dining and family CRAB FEASTS, laundry, and screened porch with outdoor furniture and an additional picnic table, overlooking the water. The large Master Suite includes a 2nd floor deck overlooking the water. The new (2020), fully equipped kitchen, includes an induction electric cooktop and range, dishwasher, microwave, 2 refrigerators, drip pot coffee maker, Keurig coffee maker, blender and tons of kitchen accessories.
The "Cottage" is above the garage, overlooking the pool and has 3 bedrooms: one with 2 bunk-beds (sleeps 4 ), one with a queen bed, and one with 2 twin beds...along with a large family room and a full bath. All rooms at Cherry Point are air-conditioned via central air, or window units.
This destination property offers swimming, fishing, crabbing, boating, dining and relaxing all in true maritime atmosphere of the Eastern Shore of Maryland! Watch the boats go by while dining alfresco or sitting by the pool! We include the use of canoes and kayaks, as well as stand up paddle boards during your stay.
There are many shops, restaurants and boutiques in the quaint maritime town of Cambridge which is about 15 minutes away. Cambridge is filled with history and unique out-of-the way sights. Travel through the countryside which James Michener wrote about in "Chesapeake" and let it take your breath away. Also, there are many seasonal events worth checking out in the area. Several golf courses and wineries are local. The world renown Hyatt Regency waterfront golf course is nearby and is open to the public. Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park and other underground railroad sites are a short drive, and the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge is our nearby neighbor and offers paths for walking, hiking, biking and more and also adds additional waterways for canoeing and kayaking.
Grocery stores in Cambridge include numerous options such as Food Lion, and Walmart and the local Simon's market. Excellent seafood everywhere you turn. The local Woolford general store is about a mile away. Slaughter Creek Marina just 10 minutes down the road. Buy fresh and mostly local produce, meats, eggs and flowers, crafts and more at the Cambridge Farmers Market every Thursday from 3-6 pm from May thru October at Long Warf in Cambridge near High and Water Streets. The Dorchester County Tourism Dept. operates out of the award winning Visitor Center at Sailwinds Park in Cambridge. There are exhibits, a playground, a beach area, a monument fountain, restrooms, a native garden, and a mile long boardwalk to stretch your legs. Check their website for local events! Linens and towels are provided for your convenience.

Great stay for a large group of friends with kids! Plenty to do, beautiful property! Had everything you could need to enjoy fishing and crabbing off the dock and a very well stocked kitchen! We are already talking about coming back! Also loved how the doors locked with small children!
Nicely appointed home. Beautiful location. Family enjoyed the canoes, kayaks, fishing and crabbing from the nice dock. We even used the tennis court for pickle ball. Property is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. We'll be coming back!

So glad your family enjoyed CP. Looking forward to hosting you again.
Great house. Fantastic setting for playing outside. Lots of sports equipment for all ages. And the swimming pool! We enjoyed the pool and deck for hours everyday. The house and accommodated our large and active family. Unanimous vote to return next year.
Our big family spent our annual vacation at Kathleen and Allen’s beautiful home. We had so much fun crabbing and fishing on the dock, singing and dancing around the campfire, swimming in the pool, playing badminton and wiffle ball
The pictures do not do the place justice! From the beginning the host was more than welcoming with lots of helpful information. We experienced Hurricane weather / tides and he was communicative through the entire process! Our whole group could not of loved the place more - between the awesome pool, pickleball court and overall house layout. The kitchen was well stocked whihc made cooking for a big group helpful. We look forward to staying again!
We loved having many kayaks and canoes ready to use. Wonderful swimming pool with lots of toys. So much to do inside and outside. It was great all around for all ages. Everyone felt this was a favorite place to gather.
The house was wonderful for a large group. Owner was extremely good with communication and quick to respond and fix when one thing went wrong. Would absolutely rent from them again. Great setting and having the pool and pickleball / tennis court was a fantastic added feature that we used.
We had a group of 17 for our family vacation and we truly enjoyed every aspect of our stay! The beautiful location, the house, pool, the kayaks and canoes, yard area! It was fantastic! The house and cottage supplied ALL the space we needed for 5 family units. The only bummer was jellyfish in the bay!
We've stayed here for our big family vacation (3 generations) for several years. There's so much to do without leaving the property. The property is very clean, and the owners make updates / upgrades every year. The owners are very friendly and responsive and always check in with us to see how we're doing. I can't say enough nice things about the property and the owners.

Thanks Mary, Always great to hear that your family enjoyed Cherry Point again. Look forward to hosting you again next yr.
Another enjoyable family vacation! Again we had a hot week first 5 days, we bought umbrellas for the lounge chair side of pool to get some shade. Pool area needs some refreshing, reinstalling handrail for pool steps would be great especially since we have seniors with us. All in all great experience. Even caught enough crabs this year to steam and my nephew made his delicious crab dip. Thank you, Peg Weininger
The title says it all. We love Cherry Point! We are a multi-generational family, ranging in age from 2-80, and we look forward to this trip every year. The property offers so many activities for all ages. We swim. We crab (off the dock and our boat). We play cards and board games. We play table tennis, basketball, and pickleball. We watch storms from the screened-in porch. It’s a great place for families to get together and relax!
We had a fantastic week with our children and grandchildren. This property offers something for everyone, all ages. Volleyball was a nightly event and the pool was always being used in the 90 degree weather.
The property has everything you need from the kitchen to outdoor games....very highly recommended.
There's something for everyone at Cherry Point - pool, boat/fishing dock, tennis, basketball, volleyball, big lounge areas (including a screened-in porch). The house and the grounds are well kept, the kitchen is well stocked, and the owners are great at keeping in touch. This is our third time staying here, and we will be going again.

Thanks Mary. Looking forward to hosting you again doon.
We’ve stayed here a number of times, and it’s always been enjoyable. From taking sunrise pics to boating, crabbing, and fishing, to cannonballs in the pool, to hoops on the tennis court (and maybe a little tennis), to fun family dinners, to painting parties, there’s always something to do.
The place is neat and tidy, with lots of amenities.
The owners are super nice, informative, and very responsive.

Thanks Mary. Always great having you all stay with us. You're always welcomed.
Excellent house & pool. Family had an outstanding stay. We rented a boat part of the week, tubing, fishing, and general water fun. Kitchen was well laid out, allowing us to cook and serve family of 21. Equipment included canoes, paddle boards, ping pong, horseshoes and a tennis / paddle ball court.
A first class experience.
This property offered many activities and space for our group of 23 family members! We explored the creek while canoeing, played tennis on the courts and were able to come together during meals and game nights. Everyone slept well in comfy beds and appreciated the hot showers after a long day. Central to the historical locations and an hour drive to beaches, the location works! Thanks for a great time, Allen!
We once again had a wonderful stay at Cherry Point! Our family ranges from ages 9-73, and there is something to do for everyone. The proximity of the dock, pool, and house is something we’ve learned to appreciate after staying at other properties that don’t have this. Everyone can be doing different things, yet we don’t feel too spread out (though the property plenty is large enough!). We love the vintage bay house feel while enjoying the modern amenities as well. Every detail has been thought of- extra pool towels, games, well stocked kitchen, and on and on- there was nothing lacking. We left with many wonderful memories, and we hope to return next year!
We gathered as an extended family for a wonderful week at this beautiful property. The house is just perfect for a large group. We could all eat together and there was plenty for us to do- pool, pickle ball, tennis, paddle boards, kayaks, fishing, crabbing. One of the highlights was a double elimination cornhole tournament! Allen was very responsive and made us feel welcome. We would like to return sometime.
House was great. Beautifully kept and well equipped for guests with 2 fridges and plenty of storage space in the kitchen. So much to do between the kayaks and crab traps! As the description provides, the internet is very spotty so streaming shows, particularly at night, was impossible. Hope to return!

Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed some of the amenities. They are starting to install fiber for internet this summer. We are hoping this improves by sometime this fall.
About the host
Hosted by Allen & Kathleen
We live in PA on a small farm. With a large and extended family we often sought vacation rentals off the main drag... We searched for properties that offered something for everyone and a place for us to reconnect and create memories. Cherry Point was one of those amazing rentals which we visited with our family of 20+ people in 2016. It was a vacation to remember with members of our family from ages 6-83 years old... all enjoying their week. We recently decided to purchase something on the Bay and couldn't resist Cherry Point when we found it on the market! We hope you make as many memories as we did and return to visit year after year...
Why they chose this property
Having vacationed here at Cherry Point, ourselves, with our family and a few friends, we know what fun this place can be! Every single person found something that they enjoyed at Cherry Point. The older members of our family enjoyed sitting on the screened-in porch (they didn't want to leave! Books in hand, they relaxed and took it all in) and watched the teenagers on the water and the younger kids playing badminton on the back lawn by the water. The views were amazing and melted our stresses away. This place is MEMORABLE.
What makes this property unique
Plenty of room for everyone, easy access to the water and plenty of room to play, crab, make memories, relax, and bond. (If you're looking for night life and the commercialized boardwalk life, this is not the place for you.) We think this property is unique for what it's not: It is not commercialized. Come learn about the Eastern Shore of Maryland and fall in love like we did!
