Calling all hikers, bikers, and cross-country skiers… this is the one for you! The location doesn’t get any better. The backyard of Trailside Escape opens up to the meadows of the Tahoe City Nordic Center. Adventure is literally at your doorstep!
The home itself is an ideal blend of form and function. Enter on the lower level which contains all 3 of the bedrooms. Two bedrooms, one with a Queen and one with a Twin plus a set of Twin bunk beds, share a guest bathroom in the hall. The ample King master bedroom has a TV, walk-in closet, en-suite bathroom complete with jetted tub and separate shower, and sliding glass door leading to the backyard.
Upstairs, enjoy the open great room with kitchen, dining area (table seats 8), and living room with large sofa, wood burning fireplace and half bathroom. French doors lead to a cozy and well-equipped family room, featuring game table, wet bar, flat screen TV, and gas fireplace. For larger groups (maximum total occupancy is 9), the family room also offers a plush Queen sofa bed and a full bathroom.
Just off of the upstairs living area, a spacious deck with gas grill (SUMMER ONLY) and table for outdoor dining overlooks the tranquil meadow behind the house. On the lower level, a luxurious hot tub awaits. Ping Pong table for guest use as well
The community known as The Highlands sits just two miles east of downtown Tahoe City. This quiet residential neighborhood offers a serene setting and beautiful meadow views, but is just a five minute drive from the many dining, shopping and recreation options in Tahoe City.
Skylandia State Park and Beach is only a mile from the base of the Highlands neighborhood. The sandy beach features a pier and swimming area. While the beach itself is not pet-friendly, dogs are welcome in the park area. Skylandia Park provides barbeques and picnic areas, hiking and biking trails, and gorgeous lake views.
During ski season, it’s just 15-20 minutes to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, two of the premier Tahoe ski areas. A single lift ticket provides access to both resorts, and the Squaw/Alpine Express offers between-mountain transportation every 20-30 minutes. Five other amazing North Tahoe ski areas are also nearby.

- Winter access: Chains or snow tires are often required in winter
- BBQs (propane) are not provided during winter (November–Memorial Day). Charcoal grills are banned in our area.
- Firewood is not supplied during the summer months (Memorial Day through October)
- Shampoo/conditioner/bodywash are not included
- Most have supplies like flour, sugar, salt & spices, but these are not guaranteed items
- We do not provide additional towels for beach use and encourage renters to bring them for summer stays
- For all dog-friendly properties, there is an additional fee of $100+tax per dog.
- Placer County STR rules: The county of Placer implemented a new Short Term Rental Ordinance which is very important for guests to abide by. Fines range from $1,500- 5,000 and can be issued to guests who are not in compliance. A full list of rules is attached as a photo in this listing.
Some Highlights include: Quiet hours are from 9pm to 8am. No noise shall be heard across property lines. No outdoor speakers or amplified sound are to be used at any time. Dogs must be leashed at all times when outside a property, and all pet waste must be picked up. Street parking is prohibited year-round.
