We invite you to come visit Mentone at Moonflower Cottage. Mentone is a charming little town in northeast Alabama, just a few miles north of Fort Payne and 45 miles from Chattanooga. It was recently named one of the top 24 small towns in America. It sits atop Lookout Mountain, where the views are not only spectacular but there are wonderful places for hiking, the 104-foot DeSoto Falls just three miles away, and we are close to DeSoto State Park. The flora and fauna are spectacular year around and Moonflower is an easy 1/4-mile walk to the heart of Mentone, where there are charming stores and restaurants and more on the way. Be sure to visit the nonprofit Mentone Arts Center, as well as Elevation Bistro, Wildflower Cafe, the Mentone Market, The Hatter Restaurant and other specialty stores in town and nearby.

Moonflower Cottage will be the star of the your visit. Imagine being surrounded by antique furniture and oriental rugs, granite countertops and stainless appliances, two king en suites with full baths, and a fully equipped kitchen that's been described as "extraordinary."

Our Mentone Getaway

This was our third time staying at the Moonflower cottage. It is by far the best place that we have stayed at. The house is very clean and inviting. The owners have thought of everything that you may need. The view is spectacular. I would highly recommend staying at the Moonflower cottage. We will definitely be back!

A wonderful getaway

Serene sunsets

My brother and I are both single people over 60; Mentone is a good place for us to meet to spend a little time visiting with each other.This cottage is quiet, clean,and gorgeous: it's well-arranged with two identical primary bedrooms, two en-suite bathrooms and comfortable living space between them. No stairs! which begins to matter at our age, and two porches, one looking out over the brow of the mountain and one looking into a wooded area of quiet backyards.This is our second time to stay here, and I suspect we'll be back. For me, at least, stress dropped away the minute I opened the front door of the cottage. I loved the quiet mornings sitting on the back porch, drinking tea and listening to the birds. If you want to be busy, there's plenty to do in the Mentone area. If you want to be quiet--well, there are the porches. (or in the winter, a large gas fireplace.)Highly recommended!

Once again- a great stay

We have stayed at Moonflower many times. Every visit is wonderful. The house is always clean and welcoming. The fireplace makes everything so cozy. Appliances and bathrooms new. Beds are comfortable. And the house is within walking distance of Mentone Market. Highly recommend!!

Cutest Place for a Girls Weekend

Moonflower Cottage has to be the cutest, coziest cabin in Mentone. It was so adorable and we had trouble getting motivated to do anything other than laying around in front of the gas logs and laughing until we were hoarse. We had the most beautiful views and sunsets and Ben, our host, was simply the best. He stopped by as we were checking in to make sure all was good and then came and "rescued" us at 10:00 that night, as we had a lock code mishap. Whoops. Do yourself a favor and stay here. There were four of us and it was very comfortable. We definitely plan to return.

Home Away from Home

Our group has rented this beautiful cozy cottage ten times. It never disappoints. Conveniently located to the center of Mentone & yet very quiet & peaceful with fabulous views. We made a point to try to be at the cottage for each sunset because they are spectacular. Moonflower Cottage is a gem with beautiful furnishings, oriental rugs, gas logs, & a well-stocked kitchen. We even have been looking at our calendars because we want to book the 11th adventure!

AMAZING PROPERTY

The property was wonderful. We loved that there were two master bedrooms. The view from the brow was amazing. Out of the 4 nights we were there we had wonderful sunsets for 3 of them. Ben was a tremendous host and the few questions we asked were answered within minutes.

Mary and I chose to retire in Mentone after having a part-time home here for about 10 years. This special place grabbed our heart with its special spirit and incredibly friendly people. We were drawn to living atop Lookout Mountain, the beauty of all four seasons, the 100-foot waterfall and the charm of this place. It's our forever home.

Why they chose this property

We couldn't resist the location, location, location. The property is located on the west brow of Lookout Mountain, with a fabulous view of terrific sunsets from the rocking chairs on the front porch.. It's in Brow Park, just one-tenth of a mile to the city center, and easy walk to several restaurants and charming shops. It's time for a visit to the mountains of Alabama!

What makes this property unique

Location is the key – rock on our front porch and enjoy spectacular sunsets on the horizon. We're at an elevation of more than 1,860 feet so you can see for miles and miles and we have cooler than normal weather here so you can avoid hot summer weather almost all the time. Take a short drive to one of the highest waterfalls in Alabama at more than 100 feet. Perhaps best of all, you can walk to downtown Mentone and enjoy dining, the Art Center and speciality shops. Moonflower Cottage is equipped with every amenity we could think of and, if we're missing anything, let us know. There's a sweet, sweet spirit about Mentone. Come see us!
