The space
Lancaster’s Lair comfortably accommodates up to eight guests, making it perfect for families or a group of friends looking for a peaceful mountain escape.

Enjoy time together in the open living area, featuring a cozy stone fireplace and large windows that bring in plenty of natural light. The recreation room offers a pool table and ping-pong table for friendly competition. Step outside to the covered porch to relax with a morning coffee or unwind in the evening while taking in the mountain views.

The well-equipped kitchen includes modern appliances, a dishwasher, microwave, and all the cookware and utensils needed to prepare meals. Fire up the outdoor gas grill for a cookout, or head to the nearby lodge for a buffet breakfast or dinner.

Feb 2026. Had a great stay. The front porch steps are steep but once inside, the home is open and inviting. Used the fireplace all weekend. The kitchen was nicely socked. Plenty of seating in the dining room and living room for everyone. Sarah checked in to make sure everything was ok, so that was nice of her. Would definitely stay here again.

We absolutely loved Sarah’s place. Ideal location for visiting the area with kids. The house was very clean, well equipped, and we all had a blast in the game room. The location next to Cacapon State Park was great. We had a wonderful time at the lake. We would definitely recommend staying here and we hope to come back in the future!

Happy, Happy Thanksgiving

I wanted a spot for Thanksgiving that was close enough for me travelling from NC and my family coming in from PA. None of us had been to the Berkely Springs area and nothing disappointed. The area is awesome, right across the road from the state park, the house is terrific and just what we all needed, and the owner was just the best!

The property was exactly what we needed for our weekend! The view was stunning, the house was clean and had everything you could possibly need, including toys for our children. Property owner was very nice and easy to work with leading up to our stay and for the duration of our stay. Definitely recommend this property and would use it again if we are in the area.

Very chill cabin

If you wanted to have some competition in the basement with friends in ping pong, pool and darts you can hangout down there all night and have a good time. If you want to watch tv with a cozy fire, upstairs could keep you comfortable all night. Overall a great place to stay no matter what you want to do on a weekend awah

Wonderful Stay

Lancaster Lair was a great property to call home for a few days. It is extremely well maintained, feels rustic, yet has all modern amenities, including a basement game room. It is located across the street from Cacapon Resort State Park, which offers many outdoor activities. The town of Berkeley Springs is just up the road, so you're close enough to it, yet feel not in the middle of it all. I'd highly recommend. Great stay! Thank you!

There were live assertive mice that weren’t afraid to run right under our feet. When one friend took the sheets off her bed there was mouse poop on the comforter she slept with!

Nice Visit to the Lancaster Lair

MY wife and I and the dog had a relaxing 4-day visit to Berkeley Springs.. The Lair was conveniently located and would be great for a family visit. We enjoyed hanging ion the deck and n the upstairs living room and lighting the wood burning fireplace. We also made good use of the downstairs pool table, dart board and AV setup. Very convenient to the Cacaton park and its hiking trails.

Very Pleasant Stay

The house had everything we needed for a lovely three day family gathering. The weather had turned cool so we really enjoyed the plentiful wood provided for fires in the fireplace. The kitchen is better stocked than most with lots of pans, kitchen tools and plenty of dishes and glassware. Our only concern was that there’s barbed wire in several places near the house which could be a problematic surprise when walking the dog.

Serene and beautiful

This well furnished and spacious house is set among the trees in a quiet, lovely, wooded neighborhood. It is directly across the entrance to the Cacapon State Park and is a wonderful retreat. The only down side is that it does depend on well water, so you don't have an unlimited supply of water. We rationed our showers and kept them short, and bought bottled water to drink, and we had no problem.

My wife and I spent three wonderful nights with friends at Lancaster's Liar. Sarah, the host, was wonderful and easy to communicate with. The home is located in a small vacation home community but out of sight of neighboring properties and is very quiet. We definitely hope to come back soon!

Just got home. The house was as pictured and described. Very clean and comfy, situated within a gorgeous community. Close to state parks, groceries, etc. Property manager was very responsive, even late on a Saturday night. Would gladly go back.
