About this property

Authentic Log Cabin - Family, Fishing, Fun - Private Waterfront

Welcome to Creel Lodge, a beautifully appointed cabin on Mountaintown Creek in Ellijay, GA. If you are looking to fly-fish and snag some rainbow and brook trout, experience solitude in the North Georgia mountains, or just a relaxing, fun weekend with family and friends… Creel Lodge is the place for you.

Ninety minutes door-to-door from Atlanta, the final approach to the cabin takes you through quaint farmland and protected woods. Don’t plan on unpacking the car straight away because you’ll want to explore the huge game room and hot tub; and then race down to the river to check out the rushing water, huge boulders, and calm fishing pools.

This authentic, Chinook log cabin is bright and spacious offering three levels for you to spread out and take advantage of the abundant amenities and the charming decor (think Pottery Barn & Rustic Chic). You’ll enjoy the large, screened porch surrounded by the sounds of nature – the river, the birds, and the mountain breezes.

Whether you’re looking for a place known for incredible fly fishing, watching the kids float on tubes in the river, or enjoy some down time to read a book and warm your feet by the fire... you’ll feel at home here at Creel Lodge. The private enclave encompasses nearly three acres of beautiful, pristine property with 600 feet on Mountaintown Creek... It's actually a river and our property is the largest parcel in the area. Truly a family-friendly "Fisherman’s Retreat."

Kids of all ages can tube, canoe, or kayak. For an even bigger adventure, the Cartecay and Ocoee rivers provide challenging whitewater, and the Lower Toccoa River is ideal for a casual half-day float on tubes or kayaks. When you schedule your outing, ask the outfitter about the timing of the dam release if you want swifter water on the Toccoa.

Nearby activities include hiking, horseback riding, apple orchard hayrides, wineries, plus small town shopping and great dining options in both Ellijay and Blue Ridge.

Without a doubt, you’ll join the many repeat guests to Creel Lodge… we know you’ll love the luxurious simplicity, rustic charm, and unparalleled comfort.

Please note: Fishing is highly regulated in our community. It is imperative that all guests respect the community guidelines.
1) All anglers must have a valid Georgia fishing license
2) Catch & release with fly rods only

We strive to maintain a healthy trout population. The property owners along this section of Mountaintown Creek are committed to preserving and protecting the trout contained in these waters which are stocked by the small community of homeowners.

Therefore, fishing is limited to fly rods with trout flies having single, barbless hooks. Spinning rods and lures with treble hooks are prohibited. Fishing with corn or worms is not allowed. These bait products and barbed hooks make it impossible to release the fish without harming them. Fish caught should be handled minimally and returned to the water as quickly and gently as possible.

If you have a larger group, consider renting one of the neighboring properties. An ideal setting for a family reunion or corporate retreat. We’d love to hear from you and discuss your vacation plans in our home away from home. Happy to send more pictures and answer any questions to make your vacation one to remember.

Outdoor enthusiasts. My husband is on the river twice a day with his fly rod and we hit the links at the Toccoa Golf & River Club. I kayak the nearby Cartecay (Class II-III) and Lower Toccoa (I-II) Rivers. For even more adventure, we head over to the Ocoee River in Tennessee which is the site of the 1996 Whitewater Olympic games. If you're an adrenaline seeker, you will love the guided, river rafting adventure on this challenging Class III-IV wet, roller coaster experience.

We’ve rented all over the area since 2000 and bought our cabin 9 years ago. We're native Floridians who escape to the North Georgia Mountains as much as possible. We hope you'll enjoy Creel Lodge as much as we do. A family-friendly Fisherman’s Retreat.
