3 Bdrm Cottage near Baddeck and St. Ann's<br>1 hour to Inverness
The ROOST is a bright and cheery, fully equipped cottage in the heart of Cape Breton. With views of the Bras D’or from inside and outside - you won't want to leave. But if you do, the cottage is close to amenities, shopping, tourist attractions, golf, nature and centrally located to all of the treasures Cape Breton has to offer - Nothing is farther than a day trip away.
The Master Bedroom has a Queen bed and private balcony over looking the Bras D'or. The 2nd (Queen) & 3rd (2 twins) bedrooms feel like you are nestled in the treetops. All of the beds are super comfortable with quality linens leaving you well rested.
The living room is equipped with WIFI and a smart tv and blu ray with tons of movies, but as the cottage comes with oodles of board games for kids and adults, you may never turn the tv on. We also have a sample of CD's of local artists for you to enjoy, but the stereo is bluetooth so you can still enjoy your own music.
The spacious kitchen is ideal to cook a large meal with the entire family helping out. It is fully equipped with everything you could need - including lobster pot! Added bonus - we have our own "lobster guy"! During lobster season he can bring a fresh catch right to your door!
Need to do a load of laundry, no problem - we've got you covered!
Upon booking, we can offer you suggestions on what to do and where to eat and recommend day trips appropriate for your group and budget.
The ROOST is Pet Friendly, however there is an additional cleaning charge

It was a pleasure to stay here! It's well located, very cozy, spacious, and full of amenities. We felt nestled in a restful, peaceful area, and our dog enjoyed his long walks along the lakeside road. The owner was very attentive to our inquiries.
We had an amazing stay in Big Harbour. The Roost was perfect. It was incredibly clean, had everything we needed and was in a perfect location to venture to all parts of the Cabot Trail. Jen was an amazing host, who gave us some perfect ideas for our adventures. We would definitely come back!
We thoroughly enjoyed this house! It was roomy and very comfortable with a well-stocked kitchen to prepare and enjoy wonderful meals.

Thank you for your kind words.
We’re so happy to know that it met your expectations and that you enjoyed your stay at The Roost.
Have a fantastic summer!
We travelled as a family of 4 plus my father, there was plenty of room for all of us and the cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. With its central location, everything was within a short day trip distance of 1 to 1.5hrs including Fortress of Louisbourg, and Cape Breton Highlands National Park. We had a fabulous time!
The place was wonderful…clean and kitchen well equipped. Bed rooms wonderful! Bathrooms great with plenty of soap, shampoo, etc. Common areas great too. The host was fabulous! Gave us so many recommendations for places to go and places to eat. Make sure you catch some music. Be aware that it is off the beaten path which is exactly what we wanted. We would stay again!!!
Our family had the most amazing 4 days in Cape Breton using The Roost as our base. The host was amazing and gave us many great recommendations on seeing everything we wanted to see. The cottage itself was in amazing shape and truly felt like a great family home. Would not hesitate to come back if we were going to be in the area or recommend to other friends and family!
The property was extremely clean and delightfully decorated. It was a great place to stay to explore Baddeck and the Cabot Trail. We had a wonderful time. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had. We would definitely use this property again for a vacation, it felt like a home away from home.
Beautiful, very well-appointed home with home-y, colourful, quirky decor. Thoughtful, pleasant, and timely communication from host. No complaints whatsoever. Would happily stay here again!
The Roost did not disappoint in any way! It was beautiful, comfortable and peaceful. Our host, Jennifer, was immediately responsive and gracious when I contacted her. All in all, the vacation was perfect and I would not hesitate to stay there again.Mary Ann Coulter
What a perfect stop to relax- beautiful setting-loved the gardens- and immaculate living spaces. Owner was very helpful with minor issues and provided great info on how to best navigate Cape Breton. The central location of this property made it possible to visit all the highlights of Cape Breton and return "home" for a relaxing evening. The house is more beautiful than the pictures on the VBRO listing
We thoroughly enjoyed your cute comfy home away from home! It was very well stocked, clean, had everything we needed! The itinerary guide was a bonus! Very informative! Our type of place!! Thanks so much!
"The Roost" is a large, clean, well-equiped and charming home located near Baddeck and within an easy drive of everything we wanted to see on this trip, including Fortress Louisbourg. The owner, Jen, was very quick to respond to any questions.
I would highly recommend "The Roost" for up to six guests!
We had a wonderful stay at the Roost. It's a beautiful home with every comfort you can think of. It's perfectly located in Cape Breton and I cannot say enough positive things about the owner. She's so responsive, kind and gives great recommendations for the area! We were traveling from the United States to Cape Breton for a wedding with 2 young children and the Roost was perfect for our stay! Thank you so much again!
Quiet, peaceful piece of Paradise.
The Roost was the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday living yet close enough to the beautiful attractions that make Cape Breton.
The house was clean, big and well supplied.
Thank you for sharing your home, it was just perfect!
A very comfortable and convenient home. Very nicely decorated and furnished. We stayed for three days, trying to see as much of Cape Breton and Baddeck as we could.
The owner Jen has a great book packed with ideas for your trip! Just a note, the road to Meat Cove is very rough but doable with prudent driving! Lol!
It was a great trip and we hope to return!
This is a great property to explore all Cape Breton has to offer. The property was clean and without question has one of the most complete kitchens we've stayed in. We kept windows open when we home allowing for nice breezes. From this base, we rove the Cabot trail, sailed on Bras D'or lakes, kayaked around Baddeck, hiked, ate lots of great food, and experienced local music. Cape Breton has so much to offer and yet remains a relatively uncommercialized, maintaining its' charm and culture. We had a great trip and highly recommend this property.

About the host
Hosted by Jennifer Blanchard
We are a family of 4 with 2 young daughters. We live and work in northern Ontario surrounded by wilderness where we spend most of our time outdoors.
Why they chose this property
We visited Cape Breton for the first time in 2015 and fell in love. So much so that we came back as often as possible and we will continue to visit as often as work allows us to run away. We have made many great friends and as lovely as it is to spend time with them we really wanted to have our own place when we came. We searched for the right property for a few years and finally found The ROOST. It is in a perfect location for when we are on holiday and it will be perfect for when we finally retire.
What makes this property unique
Big Harbour Rd is a dead end road and it is really quiet, but still close to town. On our first visit to the house we saw 5 deer and a few bald eagles which we really enjoyed watching.
