The condo looked great, and appeared to have been professionally decorated. It was well-stocked with kitchen equipment, linens, and even beach chairs. It is on the ground floor, which is what we wanted. It was very quiet, and had that lovely view.

Kona Condo

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kona Makai property. The ocean and garden view from the lanai was amazing and the nightly sunsets were incredible. We also enjoyed the nice pool and barbecue area on the property. Location was great for walks to markets, downtown shopping and restaurant areas. The property management company was always very informative and great to work with.

Kona Makai 4104 review

The property was nice and clean and was in a great location with a great view. A little more amenities would be nice so you didn’t have to go to the store to purchase daily use items such as coffee filter, paper towels,napkins, TP, tin foil. It could have provided a few items that could be used by the barbecue area since everything must be in a non-glass material.

Clean unit with great views.

We stayed here for a week with our 2 kids 11 and 15. Place is pretty clean and well kept. AC in the master bedroom should be a little bit stronger but it’s ok since there is a ceiling fan. The views are beautiful from the lanai. The gym whether it be cardio or weights can need some work and definitely an upgrade. Overall I would highly recommend this unit.

Great stay at Kona Makai

My husband and I had a lovely stay at this property. The view from the back door and lanai were spectacular. We enjoyed the pool and barbecue area as well as the opportunity to clamber on the lave rock at water’s edge. The gardens throughout the complex were beautiful and very well-kept! The condo was very well furnished and had everything we needed with a couple of exceptions. The shampoo, conditioner and soap were scanty - barely enough for one shower each. We also would have appreciated not having to replenish toilet paper and Kleenex so early in our stay. Other than that, we were very comfortable and would rent this unit again

Beautiful one bedroom condo in paradise!

Loved the quiet property, parking was easy, pool refreshing, gardens spectacular. The view is incredible. The unit itself is top quality and the cleaning service does an excellent job. Everything in excellent condition. Everything very well maintained. Newish appliances, kitchen very clean and had just the right amount of supplies. The decorating of the condo was very well done. Just love the walk in shower. Fans and air conditioning in living room and bedroom worked well and was quiet. Trash was located near to unit, area was clean and well maintained. I liked that everything was to be separated for recycling. We never had a reason to contact the property manager. Everything went smoothly the entire time we stayed here. We will definitely come and stay here again. Thank you.

Great location and wonderful sunsets!

We really enjoyed our four nights at Kona Makai. The property is gorgeous and well maintained. The unit is tidy and has everything you need. The photos online are very accurate. The only issue we had was a bad smell occasionally when we were on the lanai. On our last morning we looked over the railing and saw what seemed to be toilet paper and water flowing from underneath the building into the bushes. Not sure how that was happening, but pretty gross. We alerted the management and they were really prompt to reply and send someone out. We were heading to the airport so not sure what the problem or resolution was but assume it has been taken care of now. Wish we had asked for help sooner!

Beautiful condo, great location

Overall we loved our stay. Our first 2 days were a bit tough due to both air conditioning until not working. The management company was able to replace these but it did take 2 days. They refunded us these days and we were able to find a hotel for the nights. We happened to arrive in a heat wave with very little trade winds to keep us cool. Without the air conditioning, the condo was pretty miserable. With the new units, the place was very comfortable. Everything else was wonderful. The condo itself was clean and comfortable. It would have been nice to have a TV in the bedroom or loft but not a huge deal. The location is great and I can’t imagine a better condo set up. We used the pool and spa daily and everyone at the condo was kind and courteous.

Great place!

Easy to find, clean and welcoming, fun to visit. Would stay there again. DO NOTE: THE HOME (HOA?) HAS WEIRD RULES AGAINST TALKING ON YOUR CELL PHONE WHEN SITTING ON THE LANAI. Not sure why it's different than talking to another person or zooming a conference call, but it made working remotely kind of a pain. Also the community is undergoing a repipe project (Jan 2022) so the electric hammers go off at 9am and run sporadically during work days.

Kona getaway

We had been looking forward to getting back to Kona for a vacation after the long 1.5 years of the pandemic. Check in and arrival was super easy. The pictures made the property look bigger than it was. The living room and kitchen were smaller than we expected and our daughters were sleeping on the pullout couch in the living room, so that made quarters even tighter. However the bedroom and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. The first night we arrived, the pool was quite dirty and the kids didn’t want to swim (very unusual!). However, the water cleared up the next time we visited the pool (3 days later). There were also so many rules around the property - no phone calls on lanai, no kids in hot tub, etc. These are all understandable but wish we knew in advance.

Best time at Kona Makai

We were very pleased with the property & with our condo!! When we come back we will definitely try and stay at the same place. Very comfortable, clean and easily accessible to Kona attractions. It was a very quiet and relaxing place. Loved the view!!! The condo was well stocked for a comfortable stay. The remodeled bathroom was lovely. I would highly recommend a change to the shower curtain situation. It fell down twice & we had to have someone come in to secure it. Where it ended up being placed caused the water to go all over the floor during the duration of the shower. It was necessary to use towels on the floor to soak up the water. I would say that this is more of an adult facility. My 3 granddaughters visited one morning from the resort next door. The swimming pool experience with them was certainly not geared towards kids. Anything a kid would like to do was on the "do not" list. We'd give it a 10 rating and would highly recommend this facility and condo!!

Everything was wonderful except for Bob, the pool bully, who has lived there for 8 years. He harrasses the visitors! No food at the pool. Not a nice man.

Kona getaway

Well appointed property. Lovely welcome basket. Communication with property management was easy! A plumbing issue occurred, but management was responsive and prompt. The property is located adjacent to the parking lot so there was more noise in the morning. We loved our time at Kona Makai, it is a lovely unit and we will return! Mahalo!

Kona Makai mixed review

The unit, 4104, did have a nice view from the lanai as is shown on their VRBO listing. If was clean and free of any insects that we have encountered in other Hawaii condo rentals. We were just a party of 2 staying 14 nights and felt that the kitchen was lacking plates and dishes, storage containers, pots and pans, and did not have any measuring cups or spoons at least that we could find. So in short the kitchen was not well stocked. They had a few boogie boards, one of which was broken, two rusted out beach chairs, so we bought a couple of chairs and left them. The ice cooler was small and did not hold much and the washer and dryer capacity was LIMITED!! They did have 2 beach towels, not sufficient, but they did have enough bath towels. We were left only 2 rolls of toilet paper for 2 weeks so had to go buy more, again not sufficient, and I am not certain that it was mentioned in the description that the condo was mostly retired elderly people so there are many noise restrictions, no talking on your cell phone on the lanai, keeping any noise after 9pm to a minimum, etc... Grounds were nice, pool and surrounding area had an awesome view, parking was sufficient, workout room was limit and very basic. Road traffic on Alii Drive was horrible at several periods throughout the day due to several construction spots along the way going into town making it a challenge, but this is beyond the condos control. I would recommend the condo be better equipped and make mention of the noise restrictions and road construction in the description so guests have a little more information prior to making the decision to stay there.

We really enjoyed our stay. Our hosts left a lovely welcome basket as we were celebrating our 30th Anniversary - it was so thoughtful! The condo was comfortable and clean and had all we needed to cook meals. Sunsets from the lanai were lovely. The whole property is fairly old but well-maintained and the residents are very friendly.

They very kindly extended our checkout time as our flight left very late in the day. Nick and the restof the staff at Boundless Hawaii were great. I recommend using Boundless Hawaii and Kona Maki condominium resort.
