Finnwood - Idyllic Pet Friendly Woodland Retreat in Wine Country

Finnwood is the ultimate destination for a pure Michigan vacation. Enjoy a truly relaxing retreat at this minimalist getaway nestled among ten acres of maple trees. Located 4 miles south of Suttons Bay, minutes from Lake Leelanau, Lake Michigan, TART Trails, quaint beaches and in the middle of Michigan wine country, you can enjoy a quiet getaway and all that Leelanau Peninsula and northern Michigan have to offer.

Charming and cozy cabin- style home offering 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and an attached garage for your stay (one spot is available for guest use, the second spot is used for homeowner personal storage). Home includes full kitchen with electric stove, oven, refrigerator and freezer. Washing machine and dryer are available for use in the basement. Home is equipped with A/C and heat; all vents are downstairs so additional fans are provided in each upstairs room to help with air movement.

Wood- fired stove is not available for guest use
Due to the secluded nature of the property, cell and hotspot connectivity is unreliable. We have good luck with AT&T and Verizon but T-Mobile users are often out of service here. The home does not have high speed internet (it is not available in this remote area), so consider bringing your own hotspot or using your phone as a WiFi hotspot if needed. Alternately, the Suttons Bay Library and coffee shops have unlimited WiFi for those who need to connect reliably.

We ask all guests to be respectful of our surrounding neighbors and their property during your stay. This is the perfect spot for those looking for a quiet, peaceful stay-- no parties, fireworks, or illegal activities will be tolerated.

The home runs on a well (which is safe to drink but the taste is not for everyone!) so you may prefer to bring your own drinking water.

Spring Break

We had a great stay at Finnwood. The location was perfect for what we wanted to see and do. The views were great inside and outside of the house. The only negatives are completely subjective the beds were a bit too hard for us and the furniture wasn’t the most comfortable or child friendly. Again completely subjective.

Weekend getaway

The property was very nice and perfect for what we needed. Allowing our 3 dogs stay with us is a huge plus! Couldn’t figure out the coffee maker though, instructions might have been helpful although not convinced it isn’t broken. Regardless the coffee maker had not been cleaned and still had grounds from previous guest. Would love to stay again but in peak season this will be out of our price range. But definitely nice in the off season.

Finnwood is an incredibly special place for our family. We purchased the home and were married here in 2016, and cherish making memories here with our growing family. We love sharing this space with others to enjoy it's magic and make their own memories.
