We enjoyed staying the weekend. Home is slightly under a mile to downtown which was very walkable. Home was as advertised, newly renovated and worked well for our family weekend trip.
We had a wonderful long weekend. We enjoyed a nice fire at the end of the day and were able to relax and unwind after spending the day in Saugatuck and Douglas. Would definitely go back.
We stayed in this property for a friends plus dog long weekend getaway. The house was very clean and cozy and had everything we needed to make it feel like a home away from home. The location is perfect for trips into downtown Saugatuck, Holland, and South Haven, close to restaurants and handy for take out deliveries. It was also great for walks for my dog and there is a wonderful dog park close by. We had a great time and would recommend this propery if you plan to visit Saugatuck!
We thoroughky enjoyed our time here in Saugatuck. The home suited our needs perfectly. The cypher lock needs attention as it was difficult to lock until someone came out to adjust the mechanism.
Great house in a decent enough location to be able to walk in to town. We had a few cleaning issues but the property manager has assured us they will be addressed.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Saugatuck! The property was exactly as the pictures appear - newly renovated, and beautifully decorated. Clean and well kept, great to have a garage - we brought our e-bikes and were able to store them when not in use. So much to do in town - water, shopping, great restaurants and nightlife - lots of live bands. Definitely coming back!
Overall it was an enjoyable experience. The house was clean and it is an easy walk into town. My only thing is it lacked comfort and coziness. The beds were really stiff, pillows flat and no cozy blankets. But other than that everything was great.
Great location and clean property. Kevin was an awesome host despite a utility issue outside the home that required him to move us to another property for part of our stay. This issue was out of his control but he really handled it beautifully. My only suggestion would be some updated decor and nicer bedding.
Wonderful neighborhood, quiet, close to wedding venue, and residence was nice. I would suggest can opener, dish cloth, and frying pans be replaced. We had 4 towels between 4 adults and 2 children on a 3 day stay, could have used two more.

Fine
It was fine. There were some issues with check-in, the AC unit and refrigerator which were ultimately resolved during the stay but it was frustrating to have to deal with them over the course of a three night stay. The fire pit area was nice and the kitchen was well stocked. Communication with the management company was just okay. They addressed the issues but communication regarding when things would be fixed was lacking. I'd consider staying again but it wouldn't be my first choice.
Very nice property… I’d probably give it a 4.5 rating but I rounded up to 5. Check in process was easy. Property was exactly as listed and in a nice, quiet area. It is a very convenient location—probably a 5-10 minute walk or a very short drive to downtown Saugatuck. Also not far from highway access if you’re planning on going outside Saugatuck. A couple minor things could use a touch-up: there were cobwebs on the outside of several windows, the fire pit could be cleaned out, and one of the hallway sliding closet doors was off it’s track. But none of that took away from our stay. We would definitely stay again.
Kevin the property manager was incredibly helpful in ensuring the property would be clean. The house it in a fantastic location, and has tremendous potential. We enjoyed the stay. I would say that for the money, the owners should invest a bit to update some of the house which will make a huge difference. At the very least, remove the carpeting (unsanitary, and not right for a house that accepts pets), and replacing the blinds. That with a few other updates to the bathrooms, this place would be absolutely perfect. It was fine, but I would not choose this place again. Regardless, I would 100% work with Kevin again.
Thank you!

231 North RESPONSE:
Dear Jen, thank you for your stay, we appreciate your feedback and agree with everything you’ve said. The blinds were replaced the day you checked out and the plan to replace the flooring is scheduled for Spring 2021. Thank you for choosing 231 North and we hope you’ll give us another try in the future and enjoy Saugatuck/Douglas during your next stay.
Thank you,
231 North owner
Spent the first night cleaning bed sheets and towels due to blood and soil stains. Also had to clean both bathtubs/shower due to hair and grime. Ice machine handle was disgusting. After notifying the owner on Day 2 that the TV sound wasn't working, someone came out and didn't determine a solution. Went the entire stay (5 days) without a working TV. No other TV's in the entire house. Window blinds throughout the house stained and dirty, many non-functional. No screens on any windows to let a breeze through. Bathroom doors scrape along the tile floor making it difficult to close the doors.

231 North RESPONSE:
Dear Shane, thank you for taking the time to give your feedback during your stay and we deeply apologize. Our priority is cleanliness (we pride ourselves on how often guests refer to cleanliness during their time with us) along with a relaxing stay, and you inexcusably had neither. We pride ourselves on cleanliness (always and especially now) and have taken further steps to ensure a situation such as this does not occur moving forward. With regards to the TV, whilst it didn’t help you, we were able to get it fixed immediately following your departure. We completely agree about the blinds and they were in production during your stay and have now been replaced throughout the entire house – clean and fully operational. And, last but not least, thank you for highlighting the bathroom door, this is now fixed. Thank you, again, for taking time to share your experience. Best regards, 231 North owner

Don’t stay here if you have other options.
We booked this place for our wedding weekend in Saugatuck, and it was a good size and pretty good location. However, for the nightly price, we were disturbed by the lack of cleanliness and amenities and did not find the place comfortable.
Immediately we noticed 2 inches of thick dust on the fan blades, and the wood floors were filthy (the soles of our socks were black after walking around.) In addition, the master bathroom sink was clogged and there were cobwebs on the lighting above the mirror with bugs trapped in them. I notified the property mgmt and they offered to have their housekeeper come back, but we were too busy with wedding activities to coordinate them coming back. The whole point of a check in time is that the place is ready before then.
We could not find oven mitts, and the fridge leaked constantly, causing a puddle on the kitchen floor that I slipped on right after we checked in which was beyond inconvenient, it’s actually dangerous. The windows had no screens and when we tried watching TV the speakers on the TV were blown out and sounded fuzzy. One of the beds was rock hard and the pillows were all way too firm and uncomfortable.
Finally, on our last morning there we were cleaning up and getting ready to leave, and someone from their cleaning team arrived an hour before checkout and sat at the end of the driveway (15 feet from front door) for the next hour just watching us as we packed up and checked out. It was invasive and unpleasant.
We loved our stay!!! Beautiful, peaceful pet friendly home. Excellent location close to downtown Saugatuck and Fennville where we went to pick apples. We enjoyed the relaxing around the fire pit. So quiet and relaxing. The home was very clean and comfy. Thanks so much. We will definitely plan to stay again in the future.
