We had a wonderful time. The house was “bleary” cheerful and so comfortable. The setting was peaceful and the stream so close. Caught some native trout and had such a restful vacation. We plan on a return trip in the autumn. Thank you!! And the food was delectable!!
The setting says it all!! It’s the lovely spot you will wish for! The creek is perfect for children to play in and the walk through the woods is gorgeous! The cabin was very clean and well stocked. We enjoyed our time here very much!
We loved this property! The cabin is super clean and very cute - the pictures don’t do it justice. Remote getaway for folks looking for some peace and quiet. Lovely breweries and vineyards nearby. Highly recommend!
Could not have asked for a better stay. Pictures did not do it justice. Beautiful place with everything you need. Absolutely wonderful in every way. Thank you!
This is just the place we needed to get away and spend quality time with kids & nature. Fishing, hiking, and 4x4. The cabin had everything we needed and was very comfortable and decorated so nice. The area surrounding the cabin was beautiful; we spent loads of time outside at the fire pit one night and fishing all around the stream just steps from door.
You could not ask for a more beautiful setting. The fall colors as a backdrop to this great cabin were stunning. The house is beautifully and comfortably decorated. We loved the outdoor gas fire table. This is our second stay and we will be back. We recommended this home for any VMI family as it is a quick beautiful drive to post and a peaceful respite for your cadet, with a permit if course.
The property was well maintained, clean, and in a quiet secluded location with a creek running nearby. A few other cabins are on the property, but it was a peaceful location for a short weekend get away with the family. Kids loved playing in the creek, we were greeted by the neighborhood dog, and ventured out to all the hot spots in the area. Hosts were responsive and very friendly.
Will definitely look into a stay in the future.
We were so happy with everything about our stay at Bear Necessities. This is a beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean home. It is nestled in the woods and has a beautiful outdoor gathering space with a gas grill, fire pit table and dining table. An easy beautiful drive to Lexington (25 minutes, but seemed faster) made it perfect for Parents Weekend at VMI.
This beautiful cabin exceeded our expectations. The pictures don’t do it justice. Two sets of families in one home and we had everything we needed from king-size bed, additional two comfy large pull out beds in two separate rooms for privacy, fully stocked kitchen, extra toiletries, and plenty of linen and blankets. The propane gas fireplace was the highlight of our evenings. Can’t wait to visit again!
This cabin in the woods was perfect for our family as we were in Lexington celebrating my son's graduation from VMI. The kitchen had everything we needed, including spices for our hamburgers :) Linens were clean and comfy. The outdoors was amazing! Sitting outside while listening to the creek was very relaxing. Despite the fact that you won't have a cell signal, there is wifi and a landline. I wish I had found this place earlier because we would have definitely stayed here on football weekends!
This was a beautiful cabin with access to the creek. The cabin was well stocked with linens and was very tidy. Internet was great for the location! The owner was quick to respond when we had questions about the heat. Overall, it was an excellent stay!
A beautiful property in a beautiful part of the world. The house is charming and comfortable and the host is immediately responsive to any questions you might have. Definitely worth a visit!
The cabin is WAY nicer than the photos. Everything was clean, convenient, and well maintained, with spotless bathrooms and kitchen and luxurious linens. The grounds around the house are well tended and the creek is delightful. A neighbor’s dog accompanied us on walks and helped socialize our anxious rescues. Although it was just the two of us, this house would also be perfect for a family with kids. The internet was as good as promised and we were able to work and attend video meetings. There’s a shortcut to the Blue Ridge Parkway if you turn right from the house with excellent hiking. I wish we were going back next weekend!!!
My husband and I along with our yellow Lab wanted a nice remote getaway near water. The cabin was everything we asked for and more. The dog couldn't stay away from the creek. We have never slept so well. The owner was very welcoming and helpful, It was a great mini vacation!
Our family enjoyed fishing in the front yard, tubing and exploring the area. Perfect trip for our family and we enjoyed visiting the caverns nearby and the safari park. Great spring break trip.
This is a must stay, if you are looking to get away from it all. The property, creek and house were better than the pictures. Host was really nice in helping us get to the property. Beautiful views all around. House and property have all you would need or want to stay in comfort inside and out.
