About this property

Villas Lambeau #2 - Ocean View - Fiber Optic / 1BR 1 BA

This is an ocean view property sitting about 350 meters above the small town of Uvita. The "studio" cabin was built in 2017. It has full kitchen (Stove, fridge, microwave, all cooking utensils, plates, silverware), full laundry room with washer/dryer, full bathroom, wifi, cable TV, air conditioning, and a front balcony with ocean view. The cabin is one of three similar white stucco small houses on the property, each with privacy. You do not need a 4x4 vehicle to arrive at the property. You will wake to singing birds in the morning, and often see parrots over head and occasional toucan visitors. You can walk to the Marino Ballena beach in 25 minutes and walk to the BM supermarket in 20 minutes.

Had a great experiencing at Villa Lambeau! The property is private and tucked right above some trees and nature. Lots of birds and a great view. The property is open and spacious… there’s all the amenities you need while on vacation. Scott was an outstanding, friendly and attentive host. He provided some great recommendations for things to do in places to eat-they were very helpful. He was there on my arrival to show me how to lock the doors and navigate the lights and fans. There was a small maintenance issue and he fixed it immediately! The bed was extremely comfortable. I slept very well. The shower worked perfectly. Five stars! Would stay again.

Beautiful Location

This property consists in a large spacious room with all the functionalities of a small apartment. The outside balcony has a large roof to protect you from the adverse weather where we could observe birds while dining. It is located up a steep hill on the perimeter of town. It is surrounded by forest and offers a view of the ocean beyond. I would highly recommend a stay there.

Mixed experience

Pros: -The space is nice, great to have laundry access. One of the hosts was responsive when we reached out with maintenance issues.Cons: -The shower backed up and wouldn’t drain for an hour. The host said he’s never had this problem before, but we saw a review on another site with a complaint about their shower drainage. If you stay here, the drainage issue seems potentially related to running the washer at the same time, although water pools a bit even without that.

-There was an ant problem in the kitchen (and some ants in the bed)-The hosts had gardeners using leaf blowers directly outside of where we were sleeping from 7:30AM to at least 10:30AM one day

-I am immunocompromised and asked one of the hosts if she could not go inside the property when we checked in. She said sure and that I could just read the instructions inside. Shortly after, I asked if we could have spare towels, and she started to go inside. I reminded her of my request and pleaded with her to not enter, but she said “don’t worry” and entered anyway. -She also told us we don’t need to worry about mosquitoes, but we then got extremely bitten up by them.-The hosts say you don’t need four-wheel drive to get to the property, but you definitely do.All in all, this place has potential to be a great spot if there was generally more consideration towards guests' experiences. I wouldn’t stay here again since it kind of ruined our time in Uvita, but that may not be the case for everyone.

Respectfully, this review requires a response. From the start it was clear that Amanda and partner were going to be high maintenance guests. She even contacted us days after the reservation was made "to ensure we were honoring her reservation" because other places in CR had not honored her reservations. If you look at our past reviews you will see 4-5 across the board with very satisfied guests. Her views of the property do not coincide with the majority which includes many returning guests over the years. We have a gardening crew that comes once per month on a Saturday. In the tropics frequent lawn pruning is necessary to prevent the property from becoming a jungle. Yes -the gardeners use blowers and grass cutting machines and yes - gardeners work from 7 am to noon to avoid the mid-day heat in CR. As for ants, we do not have "an ant problem" in the houses. We live in the tropics surrounded by a tropical jungle. We clean every house every week regardless of whether it is rented or not and we wash and change bed linens and bed covers at a minimum weekly as well. Bugs in a tropical jungle are part of life in CR and get into all houses here. I assume there may have been an insect or two in the house - like anywhere in Costa Rica. That being said, we clean routinely to reduce insect exposure. We have never had "drainage" problems in the shower. We did not have issues before her stay nor after her stay. Curiously..... only during her stay. A simple bottle of drano fixed the problem in about two minutes. Although this was simple/routine fix, she threatened to leave if the drain wasn't cleared. Amanda also complained about some intermittant electricity outages. If you have ever been to or lived in Latin America you will know that LATAM country electricity is not as stable as the USA and short (in this case a minute or so) of electricity outages are quite common wherever you stay and it is out of control of residential property owners. To protect guests we do have a battery back up for the internet connection if this occurs. As for entering the house to bring towels, the person she spoke to does not speak fluent English so there may have been a communication issue and I am sure the person was just trying to be helpful. It's also possible she did not understand Amanda through the face mask she was wearing. We had not had guests with facemasks since Covid.. However, Amanda did not have an issue with someone coming in to clear the drain with Drano.. Many of our guests do not have a 4x4 and have no problems accessing our property. The property is only about 250-300 meters up from the main road through Uvita. In fact we have a tiny front wheel drive Suzuki Celerio that frequently is driven to the property. Several times per year the neighborhood association contributes to "grade" the road to keep it smooth and occasionally it does get a bit bumpy but even so it does not impede two wheel drive cars. Dirt roads are also common in CR - part of the charm of the country. While we do not require our renters to tidy up when leaving, most people do. But Amanda and guest left the house very dirty and cluttered when they left. . I am sure that there are always things to improve and that there are always unexpected things that can arise - just like any homeowner. It sounds like our place was not a match for Amanda - and that is fine - but we stand by the excellent reviews we have received on this and other websites and we are proud of the quality and condition of our property and the work that goes into maintaining the property in a tropical climate. Fantastische Sicht, fantastischer Balkon

Gerne wieder.
