We did not have a car but did notice street parking. The stairs are challenging, but certainly worth the climb if you are able. The flat has been beautifully updated. I would definitely stay again. Do not check in early.

This top floor apartment was perfect for our family vacation. Clean, very spacious with nice conveniences. Quiet neighborhood location with easy access to all the big sites to see in Edinburgh and lovely local restaurants and bars nearby. The host have a great "guide' book when you arrive but the stairs are not for the faint of heart. Highly recommend to families with active young adult children.

This apartment was just perfect for us. We were six adults and two children and were very comfortable in the three large bedrooms (one had a pullout sofa). We appreciated that we were able to spread out and use the good-sized living/dining room and the well-appointed kitchen. This was Festival week in Edinburgh. The flat was close enough to walk easily to all the events yet removed enough to be quieter. We also enjoyed the area’s shops and restaurants. Communication was both friendly and prompt. If you have a good number of people, this flat is ideal! We really enjoyed our stay…. It’s worth the climb up 72 stairs!

However coffee maker did not work ( or was impossible to figure out), rough towels, very dirty under the beds - debris present, fridge set so high everything froze. Shower in large bathroom only got Luke warm, other shower worked fine. Wish the listing was a bit more transparent.

Do not hesitate! This gorgeous 200-year-old 3rd floor flat is exactly as advertised. So much better than any hotel. Our family of 7 thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Great location near Calton Hill. Many restaurants within walking distance. The only caveat - there is no lift (elevator), so all guests must be able to climb 70 steps. Martin was an attentive and helpful host. So glad we chose this as our Edinburgh home base.

We loved staying here. The apartment is close to everything and we walked everywhere. Communication was great with the manager, it was very clean, and I highly recommend staying here.

A group of us (7) recently stayed at Hopetoun Grande (May 2026). The flat is large with four bedrooms, kitchen and a lovely common room which we enjoyed immensely. Location is excellent for a multi-day stay in Edinburgh: walking distance to the old town, new town, Leith, the train station, and restaurants. The apartment is located on the top floor with interior stair access only - 72 steps (no lift). Everyone in our party was 60 and we had no issues but a consideration for those with mobility challenges. Communication with owner was excellent leading up to our arrival and during our stay. The location was excellent with royal mile within a 15 min walk and good restaurants in the neighborhood. Very spacious living area easily accommodating up to 7 adults.Warning to those with mobility concerns that the apartment is on the 3rd floor with a spiral staircase and no elevator.We had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend this property.

At check-out, the owner requested we give nothing less than a 5-star rating, and further asked that if we had any issues to contact the owner directly. We were uncomfortable with the owners wanting private feedback, especially when several of our concerns have been repeatedly expressed by renters over the years.We requested an early check-in but it took four communications with the owner over several weeks before we received a response. We were ultimately allowed an early check-in. We arrived 30 minutes before the posted 3:00 pm check-in time. Thankfully, the owner said there would be no charge for the early check-in.The three-bedroom apartment is charming, located in a nice area and is well-equipped for renters who have infants. Good internet, well-equipped kitchen.Here are concerns worth noting:Many winding steps to the top. The hallways are very dark at dawn and dusk when the automatic stairwell lights are off The Master Bedroom Door cannot close unless you use the deadbolt since the mortis is stuffed with tissue paper. (See photo)Filthy headboard in one of the bedrooms (See photo)We did not use the bedroom with the torn couch that blocks the doorway into the Master bathroom. Excellent Penthouse

My family and I loved our stay at this large penthouse conveniently located in Edinburgh. We walked to all of the key areas of the city from this property. Also a short walk from the tram / trolly that takes you to and from the airport.

Amazing light filled apartment in central Edinburgh

This is a lovely apartment in a historic building in central Edinburgh. It was perfect for our extended family, and we could walk to the major sites. There are some very tasty restaurants nearby. The hosts were quickly responsive to questions.

Edinburgh Stay

Our entire family loved our stay. The apartment was close to everything!! We used the train, buses, uber for longer distances but walked all over the city as well. Grocery stores are very close by as well as restaurants, bakery, deli and pubs. In addition the accomodations were wonderful! The beds are comfortable and the entire place very comfortable. Lots of room for everyone.

Weekend stay for a group of 8 friends looking for home comforts within easy access of Edinburgh centre. The steps to the top floor aren’t for the feint-hearted but they’ll keep you fit, and the apartment is worth the climb!Well-appointed and comfortable apartment for sitting, dining and sleeping for 8 adults. 2 showers came in handy to get everyone out of the door at the same time.Recommended for a short stay.
