About this property
THE TICKET OFFICE, pet friendly, character holiday cottage in Ruswarp
This unusual and unique property is a Victorian, Grade II listed converted ticket office, offering a romantic retreat for two people.
This Victorian, Grade II listed ticket office has been imaginatively converted and has retained many of its original features. The sitting, kitchen and dining area are all on open plan, and the compact, well-equipped kitchen and farmhouse style dining area are cleverly screened by the spiral staircase from the warm and inviting sitting room with its original ticket office cast iron fireplace and tiles. Winding through this delightfully quirky property, the spiral stairs go up to the eaves where the cosy and intimate cabin style bedroom awaits, and the bathroom is also housed in this space. The lawned area to the front of the property may be enjoyed by the guests. Small outside seating area under the arches complete with table and chairs. Note: One dog welcome.
Amenities: Electric central heating with gas fire in sitting area. combi oven/microwave, hob, fridge, dishwasher, Smart TV with Freesat, DVD, radio/CD, WiFi. Small outside seating area under the arches complete with table and chairs. All fuel & power inc. in rent. Bed linen & towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 1 car. One well-behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 2 mins walk, pub across the road. Note: The bedroom is situated in the eaves and has restricted access from one side only. Note: Property is adjacent to station platform (5-6 trains daily) on scenic Esk Valley line.
Region: The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
Town: The little North York Moors village of Ruswarp is just two miles inland from Whitby on the boundary of the National Park. It has a general store, public house and tearoom. There is an impressive viaduct crossing the River Esk, which is one of the region's major landmarks. Over five million bricks were used to build the viaduct, it is 120 feet high and was built to carry the Scarborough to Whitby railway line. The line was closed in 1965 and now the viaduct is a walking and cycle trail. Visitors can enjoy river and sea fishing or spend time boating on the river. As well as the famous North York Steam Railway, train enthusiasts can also enjoy a trip on Ruswarp's miniature steam railway. This village is in a superb location for a memorable holiday.
